Cat Box Deli is a great place to grab a quick lunch or breakfast in the downtown area. There's no space to eat in, it's just a spot to grab a quick bite, but the food is great. And the owner, and guy who works in the shop/makes your order, Evan, is fantastic! He's super friendly and always remembers everyone. Cat Box is located in the PNC building, so lots of the folks who work in there frequent the place, and you can tell. When you're in there placing an order it's not uncommon to see people welcoming each other by name and having more in-depth conversations with Evan than you would normally have during a food order/pick-up. It's great! Always puts me in a good mood to go in there and grab a bite. The breakfast is fantastic. They have breakfast sandwiches with your choice of bagels, croissants, flatbreads, bacon, ham, sausage, egg, cheese, hash browns, onions, peppers, etc. They also have cinnamon rolls and other pastries. And everything is really reasonably priced. You can get a hearty breakfast for under $4, including a drink. Lunch at Cat Box is also great. They have a daily special, which you can find located on a board inside the restaurant as well as on one outside the door, in case you're just a casual observer. I don't know the entire schedule, but I know that on Mondays the special is tacos and on Wednesdays it's nachos. I think Fridays may be BBQ pulled pork. It's an eclectic menu, ranging from salads and sandwiches, to more hearty fare like those items listed in the daily specials. They also have baked goods, like brownies and cookies, chips, soft drinks, bottled beverages, shakes, smoothies, and probably a lot of other stuff I don't know about or can't recall at the moment. I definitely recommend Cat Box Deli as a quick lunch or breakfast spot when you're in the downtown area!

    All the yumminess inside.

Smells delicious!! The aroma to this place is the first thing that caught my attention... After finishing up a meeting in the building, I was on my way out to the car and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. I quickly grabbed my phone and looked up "cat box deli", the reviews made me want to give it a try! I was not disappointed, but I will say I was starving! The BBQ smelled amazing but I opted for a "chicken Philly" and a cookie. Pretty tasty, and hit the spot. The ciabatta bread was fresh and soft. It definitely has a greasy spoon type of feel and the smells from this place consume the air throughout the lobby. Definitely was not disappointed and would love to stop in and try another Sandwich the next time I come through here... The staff was extremely friendly as well!

Divey, but great quick food and service. Essentially just a counter and a kitchen. Casual as can be.

This place is the best kept secret in downtown Louisville. Great food at the best price in the area.

The pastrami, the rye bread (specially made for them) and the potato salad were excellent. I was glad to have ordered the 1/2 sandwich as it was quite enough with the potato salad. There is a large menu board as you walk in the side door (the deli is located in the back of Dittos restaurant). They primary have soups salads and sandwiches and daily soup specials. You order at the counter, pay for your order, get your drink at the beverage area and have a seat. They will then bring your order to your table. We both opted for the pick two combo. I had a half ruben sandwich and a bowl of white chili. Both were excellent. A huge half sandwich and a large hearty bowl of white chili. The chili was flavorful but not spicy. It had lots of shredded chicken, beans and corn (which could have been left out in my opinion). My friend had the chicken salad sandwich and the white chili and said her sandwich was good, also a very large. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, parking on the side and in the back of the building. I had not been for years but it was a good choice for a late lunch.

The meat was slightly on the fatty side for me but nonetheless still amazing. The coleslaw was out of this world. House made chips are fantastic. Based on that video, my expectations were pretty high. My wife and I made the trip out there, and I ordered the Reuben while she ordered the Turkey Reuben. The restaurant itself was clean and nice enough, although nothing particularly memorable. Their homemade chips were definitely the highlight of the meal--they were fresh, crispy, and probably the best part of our visit. Unfortunately, everything else fell short of what we were expecting. The Reuben lacked the bold, savory flavor that makes a great Reuben memorable. I was hoping for something that reminded me of the oversized, flavor-packed deli sandwiches you'd find in New York City, but this just wasn't it. In fact, I honestly think the Reuben at Jason's Deli has more flavor and is a better sandwich overall. Service also left something to be desired. While ordering drinks, we asked what they had available since they weren't listed on the main menu. Instead of simply pointing us in the right direction, the employee gestured toward a small drink menu sitting on the counter and made us feel like we should have already known it was there. As first-time customers, that wasn't a great first impression. Another thing that made the experience uncomfortable was an employee who continually walked around the dining room, clearing tables while closely watching people who were still eating. I understand keeping the restaurant clean, but it felt like we were being rushed, and several times it seemed like he was hovering over diners rather than just checking on the dining area. To top it off, I ended up with heartburn shortly after leaving, which didn't help my overall impression of the meal. I really wanted to love this place because the online videos made it look like a hidden gem with giant, authentic deli sandwiches. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the hype. While the homemade chips were excellent, the sandwich, service, and overall atmosphere just didn't justify making another trip. Sadly, this is one place I don't plan on visiting again.
