I LOVE the Red Pepper. The food, all of it, is delicious. In fact the Bow Thai pasta is so good I have to order a large pan of it any time my friends and I have an event. My go to is the Fiesta Turkey, a toasted turkey sandwich with the tiniest of kicks from the chipotle mayo. I also recommend the Miss Madison. It's got cream cheese and cucumbers and turkey, it's the perfect sandwich for a picnic (which's is what we did when we got lunch this week) Cute pepper decor adorns the walls. There is a decent amount of space but it can fill up fast at lunch time. Service is always quick and friendly. Insider tip, they prefer you pay with cash (but gladly accept cards) and if you are drinking water, bring your own cup to save .25¢! AND ask for the ruffles chips, they go best with their sandwiches. read more

Oh wow! I was antiquing in town and asked for a recommendation. . . and was led to this little gem. One of the best Tomato artichoke soups I have ever tasted. (Like I'm craving it now!!!! Lucky for me I just moved into the area.). On a separate day, I had the Venetian sandwich - and that was to die for. Everything is so delicious, and shareable. . . portions are generous. I had one half of the sandwich that day and the other for dinner! Wow!! I'm from Texas, and I was visiting a friend who had recently moved to Indiana. We found this and it was amazing. The girl at the register was so so but the food was amazing. I love Lagrange. It's such a cute town. This weekend was even more special because the town was hosting a local Arts & Crafts Fair. Main Street was filled with vendors offering anything from fresh veggies to wine and homemade wood carvings. In the middle of that street is The Red Pepper Deli. Stopped in for a quick lunch. To be honest, I wanted to go to the more expensive and classier place up the road but hubby was hankering for a sandwich. The lady at the welcome center recommended this place cuz if the soup special - tomato artichoke. Hubby ordered that and a sandwich. He loved the soup. It had some artichoke chunks in it and looked very savory. My sandwich was turkey and bacon. Red Pepper is the best! I have so many fabulous memories eating here over the years. My best friend and I stopped in today during the Oldham County Day craziness (presumably their busiest day of the year) and received great food and amazing service as always! I highly recommend the grilled pimento cheese and tuna melt! Not a huge fan of their chicken salad personally. There is no excuse for eating here and not getting bow Thai pasta salad - this is a MUST! You can't go wrong with any of the desserts either. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable! We are frequent flyers at the red pepper!!! I normally don't eat deli meats and sandwiches for lunch because they're usually bland and boring but red pepper are the best sandwiches I've ever had hands down. They rotate the pasta salads and always have specials! It's worth a stop in especially during festivals or events downtown that are always happening. They are so friendly and it's become a favorite spot of ours. The Lagrange location is our favorite. If it's nice we try to snag one of the small tables on the street and watch the trains go through downtown. They also have a catering location in crestwood that gets pretty busy (so maybe call ahead to order if you go there). My favorite: dirtball My husbands favorite: diamond back *we've tried almost all the grinders sandwiches and have never been disappointed Be sure to ask for a loyalty card. I like this place and have gone a handful of times now. Every time I go the sand which has been pretty good and brought out to me pretty swiftly. Good choice of sides-which I've never had and they have a rotating selection of soup. Soups food, just gotta hope the one you like is being served that day. So, why only 4 stars? I've never gotten that warm and fuzzy feeling from the service. The guy at the counter is always off putting. And he's usually the only one up there. I have very little experience with the joint. That is to say that I have been here often but I only get the Chicken Pesto because it is AMAZING! This deli was an amazing find in a small town. The Ham melt my daughter got was amazing & the cheese could be pulled for days. I got "The Four Way Stop" on Rye bread with homemade coleslaw and Thousand Island dressing. It was the perfect combo of flavors. I got the Pesto pasta salad for my side & it was so delicious my daughter ate more than I did. Not pictured was the cup of loaded potato soup which tasted like i was putting a true baked potato with all the toppings in my mouth. Every bite was as good as the first. Living in Oldham County for a long time, this place has become a favorite! There are two locations in Oldham County, one in LaGrange and one in Crestwood. There sandwiches are phenomenal, unique with very creative names! Different breads, panini's, etc. Homemade soups, salads, and pastas to choose from also. They have daily specials, and many sandwich and combination choices. You can order individual items, or combinations, like half sandwich and half salad. Each order comes with chips and a pickle. One of my favorites that I tend to get each time is the mandarin pecan salad (romaine and iceberg lettuce, blue cheese, mandarin oranges, toasted pecans and red onions with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing), and The Belle Pepper of Louisville (Honey turkey, colby-jack, marinated green peppers and onions grilled on a sourdough bread)! This was a cute deli in a college town. We happened to be stopping for lunch and I found this place on Yelp. Everything had a little spice which was nice, even the potato salad. The restaurant was very clean and decorated to reflect the local community. The service was great and everyone was very friendly.
