    Twig & Leaf Burger

Amazing customer service our waiter was very attentive to our orders as I'm picky and so is my girl. Burger exceeded my expectations, didn't need any condiments which says a lot to me. Can't lie best burger I've had in a while.

Love the service here. This place is amazing, I come at least three times a month. It's just a nice place to come and relax and enjoy great breakfast food.

Twig and Leaf is not what it used to be. I hadn't been since it reopened under new ownership, but I've been hearing the buzz about authentic Guatemalan cuisine. Apparently, it's served everyday except Tuesday. You'll have to get your taco Tuesday fix elsewhere and save this place for every other day of the week. I had the Guatemalan taco platter. I've heard it's the most authentic around. I haven't been to Guatemala to be able to confirm those accolades, but I can confirm that these tacos are phenomenal. My husband and children ordered chicken and pork tacos and our experience was both affordable and a crowd pleaser. There were multiple sauces available on the table, but my favorite was the one on my plate. It was spicy, but not so spicy that it overpowered the flavor of the tacos themselves. It was super fresh tasting with cilantro and chunks of avocado. The meat portions were generous. It's hard to imagine the meals I had decades ago were from the same location now serving these tacos. If you're a Louisville native and haven't been back, it's time to give this place another try. The atmosphere has changed. The food has changed. The service has changed. All for the better. We look forward to putting this restaurant in our regular rotation!

New ownership and new menu. The authentic tacos are really quite delicious. Tried and assortment - chicken, pastor, chorizo and all were extremely tasty, mixing zesty flavors with fresh veggies. The Tostados and Taquitos made for a lot of food, but were delicious in their own. Queso isn't on the menu yet but they serve it so be sure to ask - it has a kick that adds another layer to an already good app. This is a big step uo from the old menu. The old school vibe is still similar but the new owners are incredibly friendly and warm. Encourage you to try it out!

It's crazy that this place doesn't have more stellar reviews than I see here. My experience was top notch! We had the papusas and empanadas, and I couldn't get enough of it. Perfectly seasoned and authentically prepared. Inexpensive, large potions. Service with a smile! Plus I can't resist a quaint diner setting like this. I can't wait to come back and sample every single thing on their Guatemalan menu.

I have been past this place many times as often as I have been on Bardstown Road and never came here until recently with a friend. They have changed their hours from 7am-3pm as of this review being posted, we basically came here for an early lunch since they close early. Street parking available, we went in at around 1-1:30 in the afternoon. Place was somewhat busy and there were a few empty tables, most of them hadn't been wiped off yet but, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt beings there was a counter/server and only one cook that we could see working. Coming in there is an overwhelming old building smell that I will say is unappealing but, this place is old so it is expected. We did find one table that looked somewhat clean and sat there. It did take a few minutes to be waited on. We both ordered the Single Twig which is a Single patty burger. I got seasoned fries and my friend got the crinkle. Now to the food. I will say the burger was well cooked which that's how we like it. Not the best burger out there but it was decent. Seasoned fries were delicious. We were both satisfied with the food and left full. My understanding they used to be open later but, I assume that there isn't enough help like it is most everywhere. I hope to see them open later at some point in time and hopefully I can come in earlier and try their breakfast that is served from open to close.

Bacon looks like it should be good. But it's burnt crispy and bland. The egg.. well that's a 2-egg scramble.

Tried twice in 4 years and the original experience was enough to put this off my list for years, but I came back for another shot. I've always heard you don't come here for the quality of the food, but you come here for a cheap breakfast that could barely shrink your wallet. This time, as the last, the bacon was over-crisp and crumbly, my scrambled egg was more like an omelette shell and bland, and the OJ tasted much like Sunny D. I'm not sure what's going on here, but with all the breakfast options in town that are amazing, inexpensive, and near this one, I'll be skipping it for another 4 years. On the plus side, the service staff were very friendly, prompt, and considerate, but that's not enough to offset the food experience.

I ate all of it and there was 6 French toast

They have everything the food was grate nice and hot and ready recommend best place and when I mean everything they got everything it's grate food and service 10/10 and there was 6 French toast and it was grate

Twig and Leaf now has a Mexican/ Guatemalan menu after 4 pm. The food is amazing, portions large and the prices are very low! .We usually try to eat at different places all the time, but the food is so great here we've been back 3 times in 2 weeks. Everything we've had has been wonderfully flavored; their green and red sauces are the bomb. My favorite so far is the campechano gorditos. Highly recommend!

From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a warm and friendly hello. Everyone was very kind and the food was the perfect feeling of diner comfort food. The setting is quaint, dive-ish, and simplistic. The perfect place for weekend breakfast. Great price point and delicious food. I can't wait to visit again.

The staff also encourages you to walk through the dining room and if able they will walk along as your own private docent, explaining a lot of what you see. We had to pause the dining room and bar exhibit tour for a short time to have breakfast which included: - BREAKFAST SANDWICH - Scratch Biscuit, House Sausage, - FRENCH TOAST - Ricotta, Strawberry, Pistachio - BISCUITS & GRAVY - House Sausage Gravy, Sunny Eggs, Chili Crisp Scrambled Eggs, Melty Cheese, Hash-brown - STEEL CUT OATMEAL - Spiced Apple Butter, Apples, Candied Walnuts I will not go items by item but I will say that everything was so perfect-tasty-fresh. The portions are very robust here and I am sure no one goes aways hungry. They have a lot of unique twists on items as you can see by the menu we had. After breakfast, we resumed our tour of the main floor then the basement. It's hard to describe just how large the viewing area is and all spots within the area are used for some kind of art display... Even the bathroom. Set aside an hour or two to stop in and relax with some great food and art. KUDOs to the team at Proof on Main.

The modus operandi here is that you stand in line to place your order, then go find a table. At Sunday brunch time, the line can be long and slow to move. After you are seated, a runner will bring your food out. Our orders were correctly prepared and came out quickly. We ordered fried green tomatoes, loaded tater tots and donut holes as appetizers. The green tomatoes were just okay, but I would say that the dipping sauce that came with them was fabulous. The loaded tater tots didn't really seem like tater tots but tasted okay. The donut holes were decent. I ordered the Chick N' Ditch (chicken breast and waffles). The unpleasantly salty chicken was a filet. The French toast that looked like pancakes were good JP ordered the Avocado Toast and said it was just okay. The Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit was good. I was able to order a biscuit on the side (even though the paper menu didn't show biscuits as a side). The biscuit was good. I'm torn between three and four stars for Biscuit Belly, but because the ambience was lively and the interior appealing, I'll go ahead with four stars.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here two Fridays ago ahead of a bourbon tour (thinking, correctly, that we should probably have a hearty meal beforehand so we didn't end up face-first in a gutter somewhere). Several Kentucky natives told us that we had to try a Hot Brown during our visit, and since it was literally created at the Brown Hotel, this seemed like the logical spot. The actual Hotel has some gorgeous interiors, especially upstairs in the lobby. We didn't see that area until after our meal, so when we laid eyes on the Lobby Bar & Grill, we knew immediately that that was where we SHOULD have gone for this Hot Brown dish. J. Graham's, I'm sorry to say, doesn't have the history and personality of the rest of the building and just looks like a generic breakfast spot you'd find in any hotel. It probably exists solely because the other dining options in the hotel aren't open until later and they want to give tourists and their own customers a place to eat at all times of the day, which isn't a terrible reason in my book. But it's also unfortunately not very good, and the dirty walls and overall meh appearance of the establishment just make it very clear that the hey day for this hotel overall was decades ago. The service was the biggest miss here. Our waitress was scatterbrained, often not around or around but hanging out with co-workers or talking up other customers. It was honestly pretty mystifying because when she DID come by, she was often overly apologetic and trying to make amends. But the best way to make amends is not to have to keep doing that throughout the meal. She forgot my friend's coffee (didn't write anything down when we ordered, which is fine if you remember everything but...) and when my chum asked what was in the hummus (one of just three apps), she didn't know and had to go ask someone in the kitchen. That's arguably a nitpick and she DID try to figure it out, but the lunch menu is pretty small and it was a little odd that her menu knowledge was that limited. The bigger problem was that we were in there for over half an hour longer than we wanted to be because she wouldn't come by our table. I actually actively looked for her on the way to the bathroom so I could remind her to come to our table, but instead found her off to the side gossiping with other staff. Not a good look at all. So this might have been an overall positive experience if some of the hospitality from the hotel had spilled over here. We actually both enjoyed the apps, which were the only real positives of the experience. The Bourbon Barrel Fries and the Two Timer, featuring Smoked Bourbon Hummus (bourbon tends to be the theme of your days in this town, I've found) were both really good, and I probably ate more of those than the actual entree. The fries were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned/addictive. The Hot Brown was fine for what it was (we split it to try). It's basically a dramatic turkey melt, with slices of turkey coated in cheese and other sauces. It also came with strips of bacon on top, which on a personal palate level I didn't think really helped the dish so I barely nibbled on those. It's definitely a solid entry but it wasn't mind-blowing for either of us. Maybe it's just from where we come from in the Northeast, but I'm conditioned to like my turkey with accompanying stuffing, and usually in the latter part of November. I think it felt kind of weird to be eating turkey with warm cheese. But I'm glad we tried it and got the context at least. You might have a completely different experience with better service, but I'd still recommend going upstairs for any dining. It's a much better atmosphere and you can really appreciate where this hotel fits in the chronology of Louisville. You're not going to get that from going here.
