We purchased three keiki sized shaved ice n two 2 of them were cotton candy flavored. I noticed the color wasn't as pink at it as it usually is, but we ordered snow cap with this so it still had some taste. Once the snowcapped area was eaten.. there was zero flavor. I told the owner n he added more syrup. Again no flavor. All he said was sorry. Didn't bother asking to get a new one since I had half..but he should have offered something esp two of us complained n threw half of it away. Not bad at all. I got the shave ice with the rainbow flavors. It was perfectly sweet without feeling like you'll get diabetes. The shave ice is soft yet has a good crunch to it. I also ask for vanilla ice cream on mine but I feel they use low-quality ice cream as I barely tasted the vanilla on mine. The ice cream visually looked crystallized as well like it was thawed below temp and refreezed causing the separation of water and the ice cream ingredients. Ewa Seed Company is an iconic hole in the wall shave iced spot located in Ewa Town Center. I've grown up in this place. For the past 20 or so years, I've visited this shop consistently with my dad and brother. The owner, an older Japanese man served us for a long time, making us the best shave ice ever and having great customer service. My best memory of this place was when they sold 2 for $1 hotdogs about a decade back. One time, we went to go in for hotdogs, and my dad accidentally forgot his wallet. My dad mentioned that he would be right back while he ran back to the house to grab some cash. The owner was so kind enough to say 'no need, the next time just come back.' The next time we came back, the uncle said 'that's okay. It was on me.' Yes, it was only a dollar but I still remember that act of kindness even though it was a decade ago. Although I don't see him in there anymore, the workers consistently show the aloha spirit and serve the amazing shave ice that I remember as a little kid. From shave ice, lemon peel snacks, and li hing mui everything- Ewa Seed Company has the goods to bring you back to the good ole days. Come here and visit Uncle Ben at Ewa Seed Company in Ewa Beach! I recently returned home for a little RnR before Thanksgiving and had to pay Uncle a quick visit. I would frequent his shop while living on island from 2012-2015. He is the sweetest and the portions he serves gives you so much for your money! He has a whole list of flavors and also offers other goodies in his shop. Some things you'll find are various li hing mui items, gummy candies, chips, drinks and novelty items too. I'm not sure if it's his ice shaving machine that's different from all the rest but OMG it makes the ice so fluffy and perfect! I hate getting shave ice and trying to scoop it out with a spoon only to be disappointed when the top falls off because it's ROCK HARD!! Lol! You won't have that problem here, TRUST!! I usually get a child size or small and even that's big to me, hahaha! You can choose up to 3 flavors and add vanilla ice cream and mochi for a small fee. I always do because it's so yummy!! Stopped in for our last shave ice fix before flying back to NYC later that day. I got the guava and the dreamsicle, which I assume is like an orange creamsicle but I wasn't getting any of the cream flavor. It tasted more like tangerine, which I didn't love. The guava was good though. Texture of the ice was also good. My sis and hubby both got mochi balls but that wasn't good. It ended up melding into one giant ball for some reason, so I would skip it. After we ate our shave ice, we went back in to order a medium one to take home to my BIL. They live about a two minute drive away so some of it melted, expectedly so. But the guy asked if we were taking it to go and when we said yes, he gave us a large one at no extra charge. So nice of him! It's a small store but they sell other things like snacks and candy. It's also located in the same lot as Foodland and CVS, so there is plenty of parking. read more

Every time I come back to Hawai'i, I always stop here for some shave ice and I always get a medium with li hing mui and pickled mango syrup. It's the only the only place I've ever seen this flavor and it's so delicious & refreshing. The medium is a perfect size for me and only three bucks with some change, it's a good bang for your buck. They have a few sugar free flavors too which are also tasty. Uncle who runs the shop is always super friendly. He always offers me a punch card even though I'm never home long enough to get it filled out and I lose it before my next trip. One of my favorite things about living in Hawaii will always be the plethora of tiny hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop crack seed stores that you can find in almost every neighborhood. My boyfriend grew up in Ewa Beach and has always bragged that Ewa Seed was one of the best crack seed shops on the island. As a true townie, you know that I had to rebuttal and support my local crack seed shops in Manoa and Kaimuki. On a sunny and beautiful Mother's Day, we decided to go for a walk in the neighborhood my boyfriend grew up in to walk off our Mother's Day brunch. After 30 minutes of walking in the scorching Ewa sun my boyfriend saw this as the perfect opportunity to show me why Ewa Seed was the superior of crack seed shops on island. We decided to cool off with a shave ice and a handful of goodies. I usually hate to admit when my boyfriend is right but one bite into my large shave ice from Ewa Seed and I was in absolute bliss. The kind man named Dean running the shop didn't skimp on the ice or syrup. He definitely didn't skimp on the snow cap topping, ice cream or mochi as well. With plenty of flavors of syrup to choose from in pretty sure we stood there for a good five minutes staring at the wall behind the register, picking out what flavors we wanted. Super small mom and pop shop. They sold all types of different candies and shaved ice! Plenty of flavors and all delicious. I loved their Mochi the best. Seemed hand made as it wasn't uniform in shape, but it was so soft, chewy, and kinda sweet. Definitely my favorite mochi. Ewa Seed Company is a loved snack shop in the Ewa Town Center. It's a small snack shop with lots of treats. Our favorite is the tasty Shave Ice which you can get in so many flavors and styles. They also sell many different types of seeds, toys for the children, ice creams and Hot Dogs. My favorite thing about this cute snack shop is the owner. He is so kind and patient. Many times I have gone with my grandchildren and they didn't have a clue of what they wanted and he waited so patiently. The shop is well maintained and clean with lots of parking in front. Oh my goodness, I can't believe I haven't written a review here yet, I was so sure I did. Anyway, this little store is a childhood favorite of mine. I grew up coming here with my family and my friends so when I'm in the area I like to pop by to pick up some goodies and grab a shave ice. The last time I went I grabbed way too many snacks lol but I decided to pick up some small treats to wrap up as stocking stuffers for the family, how great right, supporting a small local business and I get to treat my family to some yummy goodies, oh and just a few for myself, too. They've got lots of favorites here, fish jerky, kaki mochi, iso peanuts, lemon peel, all kinds of candy, and of course some of my favs, chocolate covered gummy bears and li hing watermelons hehe. So after my mini shopping spree, I ended up with way more than I anticipated getting (haha, I was only going to pop in for a shave ice) I also realized it was quite late in the afternoon and I hadn't eaten yet that day (I was so busy) so I got a hot dog, bbq beef stick, and a small shave ice (that is HUGE BTW definitely a good size to share with another person). I'm always stunned by how many flavors shave ice places have these days and the amount of creative and fun flavors always amaze me, but I spotted some fun ones up top and ended up with li hing gummy bear and pickled mango with mochi and wet li hing gummy bears in it ! The shave ice is always great and the hotdog and bbq beef stick made for an excellent quick meal for me to enjoy in my car before driving back to town. The bbq beef stick is a little dry, but still very tasty and a perfect snack and all of that made for a quick and very affordable little meal ! Overall, the snacks, the food, and the shave ice is always delicious but the service and seeing a friendly familiar face is ALWAYS nice. I am doing this not because of the owners' and daughter that runs and work at business. I go there alot but they have an employee there' young girl but very cocky mouth. In all the years i go to get shave ice this was the 1st time i went in at 543pm and was happy i made it in time as they close at 6pm. i was told by this employee that said they ran out of ice to my disapointmemt and couldnt provide shave ice. surprised but ok. This employee i felt was just wanted to close shop early as i went in my car' had to take a call and 6pm she was out the door. So i went in the following Fri and was looking forward. Pops was there and i told him' " Pops" first time you guys run out of ice on Weds your employee said. He looked surprise and as I was telling him' his cocky mouth employee came running out from back like she did not like me telling her boss that she ran out of ice on Weds. she denied it and says they were closed but i was in shop at 543pm. Their employee started arguing with me and I dont know if her name is Elisha as thats what she gave me. But I really felt she was hiding something. I see Pops & daughter running this business and English is Pops 2nd language. But you can get bad employees and this girl is one. I think they should monitor her as shes argumentative' not customer service at all' and she says she work 3 years here yet this was the 1st time I saw her. Good business can be ruin by bad employees. My mom was on the hunt for red pickled mango...she was determined to find it before we went back to the mainland. There aren't many crack stores anymore and Ewa delivered! I called ahead and they had plenty of pickled mango for her. The shop is small but full of treats. It was a great mix of crack seed and modern candy. Auntie was so patient with me as I filled the counter with goodies while I waited for my husband to answer my texts of what do you want me to bring back...such good service. My favorite flavor is vanilla with vanilla ice cream, azuki beans & to top it off with a snow cap. I call it a deluxe it's SO ONO! The reason I went in was for the shave ice, yes the shave ice. It's actually a pretty darn good shave i might add! The gentleman owner is really nice, he interacts with his customers a lot & he has manny different offerings for everyone that won't dent the wallet - I observed a note on the wall stating that they offer hot dogs for $1.00!!!! 1.00 is a deal nowadays!
