The carpet was very wet after it was cleaned and took more than two days to dry. I was worried about a possible mold problem underneath the carpet. After the carpet was dry, I saw a few very dark reddish and brownish large stains so I contacted the owner. He came out right away and removed most of the stain but left one big stain untouched. When I contacted back, there was no response. I'll have to have someone else come remove the stain now. read more

I had a hard time finding this place and drove around the neighborhood for 10 minutes looking for the Excellence Van...my appointment was moved from 4:30pm to 5:00pm. Which is fine but since I've never been here to drop my car off (for a cheaper rate), I am confused. There is no van out front as of now and it's 5:16pm.. the receptionist is really nice and keeps calling him back to help me out. I don't think I'll come here again. It's now 5:30... I was able to schedule an appointment very quickly for the next day. Over the phone I gave told them the couches, chairs, and approximate square footage of carpet that needed to be cleaned. Todd arrived on time and began cleaning. My appointment was originally scheduled from 12-2 pm on a Saturday. Todd did a very diligent job and it became clear that the job was going to be larger and take more time than we discussed over the phone, and Todd asked for a very reasonable price increase. Extremely disappointed with this company. I called to get a quote. explained that I had 2 rooms of carpet for cleaning (size 13x15 and 15x20) and also a large 9ft loose pillow sofa that needed cleaning. He told me the price would be $70 for the rooms and $125 for the couch. I questioned whether the price of $70 was for both rooms (because I thought the quote very low and he seemed very distracted) and he said yes. Cleaner arrived and immediately said, "I don't think this was the job I was supposed to do, (he knew nothing about the upholstery cleaning). But show me what it is that you want done and what the charge you were quoted because I have no information and I will call the office. The office called and quoted back the prices that he had told me of $70 for the carpet and $129for the couch. He immediately started back tracking and telling me he must have misunderstood and telling me how much he had to pay the cleaner that was there. I told him that the problem was his, that I had specifically explained sizes of room and couch. At that point I no longer had any confidence in this company abilities and I cancelled. It's too bad. I had wanted to give the business to a local Davis company. I might add that the cleaner was very abrupt and chastising. Some minor furniture needed moving, which my husband and I could easily do while he got equipment ready to go. We wouldn't have "wasted" his time. His company cost him the time by sending him to the wrong job And making the quoting errors. Both he and the company lost on this job and wasted my time as well. read more

Todd has saved us not once but twice!! I am incredibly clumsy and about a year ago got blue acrylic paint on my carpet - Todd was one of the only people I contacted that offered to give it a shot and remove it as opposed to patching it or replacing the carpet (and we live in an apartment so it's not as easy as you'd think!). Acrylic paint is also virtually impossible to remove from carpet and he managed to get it out and leave not one mark behind!! He is also the lowest price in the area. Flash forward to present day and we had spilled hot red candle wax on our floor in a different spot - again, called other places to check out what it was looking like and remembered Todd, who again was the only one to offer a good price and say it would be no problem to remove. He is an honest and amazing cleaner. Definitely go to Todd for any mishaps because he can remove them no problem and is an incredibly hard worker!! Believe me, save yourself the trouble and just call someone else. Don't even bother. The technician was late, rude, disrespectful, and angry, the owner was unhelpful and incompetent, and their equipment turned out to be broken. I'm moving out of an apartment and needed to have the carpets cleaned. I called a week in advance to ask for a quote, and after giving the number of rooms and total square footage to the gentleman I spoke with on the phone, he quoted me just under $100 to vacuum, pre-treat, and clean the carpet. I set an appointment for 10:30 this morning, and relaxed. I arrived at the apartment at about 10:15 to be sure I was there to let the technician in. At 10:45 when no one had arrived, I called the office and left a voicemail. The owner called back about ten minutes later, and said the technician must be running late and should have called. He got in touch with the technician, and told me he would be there in 'about 20 minutes' (at that point, he would be arriving at 11:30). I explained that I was going to return to work, and asked that the technician call me when he arrived so I could let him in. The technician arrived at 11:45, and when I arrived to let him in he seemed incredibly annoyed with me and did not offer any apologies for being over an hour late to the appointment. He rolled his eyes and bemoaned how low the quote was that I had been given, and made it clear that cleaning my carpets was hardly worth the time ("I had to leave a high paying job to come do this one, cause they told me the tenant was mad."). He said because he was running so far behind, he was not going to vacuum or pre-treat. When he encountered my landlord to ask for help connecting to a water source, he was incredibly rude and disrespectful to her. He spoke to her like she was a child, making exaggerated gestures, and when she turned to walk away he made a derogatory comment to me about her ethnicity. I called the owner and expressed my concern about his behavior and about not receiving the full level of service I had contracted them for. His response was "yeah, that guy has an anger management problem" with no apology. He said he would call and instruct him to vacuum and pre-treat. About 15 minutes later, I checked on the apartment and found the carpets unvacuumed and the technician setting up the steam cleaner (unsuccessfully). I called the owner again, explained that I was losing faith in the technician's integrity and ability to clean my carpets well, and asked that the owner please come either supervise the work or complete the job himself. He said he would do that. 15 minutes after that, I returned to the apartment again and found the owner there with the technician. They were struggling with their vacuum, which appeared to be broken. The owner told me "it doesn't matter, vacuuming doesn't really do anything anyway," which means they have been charging clients for a service they believe adds nothing to the cleanliness of your carpet. The owner proceeded to whine and argue with me for the next half hour about how busy he was, how much of an inconvenience my appointment was for them, and how he can't possibly be held responsible for the attitude and behavior of his employees. He told me he was still willing to clean the carpets and be done within an hour, but refused to talk about lowering the price to account for the lack of vacuuming or the huge amount of hassle, trauma, and wasted time I had endured. I told him I was no longer interested, and asked him to pack up and leave. The technician started packing up the equipment while the owner continued to try and justify his petulant and abusive behavior to me, and the technician kept inserting snide comments about how unreasonable I was being that I expected to receive the contracted services at the price I was quoted. Each time, the owner would beg him to "please, just don't say anything else right now." It's clear the owner is aware that this employee is a lawsuit waiting to happen. All in all, I wasted over 3 hours of my time and endured a truly emotionally disturbing encounter and didn't even end up with clean carpets. I cannot believe this company is still in business, if this is how they operate. read more

Hired this company on Nove 22nd. The carpet was wet for two day (despite being told 2-4 hrs) AND the carpet was not cleaned AND still dirty. I posted a comment and was felt chastised and it was suggested I should have called. In addition, I was told, "So I think maybe we deserved a chance to make it right?" I took them up on that offer to "make it right" and requested a time they could come back out? To my surprise, on November 25th, I recieved this message, "We are not available at this time to "make it right." We appreciate your review sir. Happy holidays" Sooo instead of correcting their mistake, they continued to offer POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! After I reminded them of this, I received a phone call on November 26th at 9:00pm from someone within the company indicating they could refund me. I was sleeping and asked them to call back the next day. It's December 2nd and I haven't heard from anyone. Based on some of the reviews I've read, my experience is similar. I hired Excellence Carpet Cleaning to clean my carpets before I moved out of my house. One of Todd's employees did the job. He was very nice, professional and on time. A part of the service I paid for, however, was to receive an invoice for the job in order to receive my security deposit. The employee told me that he was not able to give me an invoice there, but I would receive one within a few days. This is where my long and laborious experience with the owner, Todd, began. I emailed Todd many times and called on numerous occasions to set up getting the invoice. He mostly ignored my calls and emails. Once I finally heard from him he said he would get me the invoice within two days. It took him another 4. In total, it took 11 days to get the invoice, and only after a lot of pestering. When I turned in the invoice, I learned from my landlady that the carpet cleaning job had been botched and the carpet had to be re-cleaned to get rid of a smell and the cleaning was deducted from my security deposit. Between the invoice issue and now the botched job, I called Todd and asked for a refund. After much haggling, he told me he would call my landlady to try resolve the issue and would give me a full refund if he could not. Again, I waited over a week for him to respond. He finally sent a quick email saying he would only be refunding the amount my security deposit was charged and I could expect it within a week. It has now been well over a week and I have still not received my refund! There are plenty of other carpet cleaning services in Davis, I would highly recommend not choosing this one. If anything goes wrong, Todd is not the type of person you want to deal with. read more
