In mid-December, I was called by Advanced and told that I had one more free furnace service call and they scheduled it for the afternoon a few days later. They called me late on the scheduled service day and said the service tech had run into a problem so they wouldn't be coming that day but maybe sometime after the first of the year they would be in the area and could do it then. Their serviceman Kade called me on Jan 3 stating he was 10 minutes away and coming for the service call. I told him I didn't know he was coming that day and no one had let me know he was going to come then. I wasn't available that morning. He let his office know and about noon that day, Advanced called and said he would come that afternoon. Late that afternoon Kade came and started checking the furnace. During his checks, he handed me an official looking sheet of paper which showed what damaged parts look like on the heat exchanger unit. Kade told me that when he safety checked that unit if he found any dangerously corroded parts like shown on the paper he handed me, by law, he would have to Red Tag the furnace and shut it down so it couldn't be turned on until the unit was replaced or fixed. He couldn't pull the heat exchanger out to view it because he said he didn't have a ¾ inch PVC elbow with him to put the pipe back together that he would have to cut. It was blocking him from pulling the unit out. He said all he had with him was a PVC straight-thru. I don't know why he couldn't have gone to a store a few blocks away to get the 69-cent part? Maybe it was because it was getting close to quitting time and he had to drive back to Idaho Falls or maybe Rigby? He tried to view the heat exchanger unit by looking thru a small hole he was able to make in the tin triangle cover of the "A" portion of the evaporator unit above it but he still couldn't view anything from there. He gave up and just reassembled what he had removed, closed the furnace and said, "I don't think there was anything wrong with the heat exchanger because I couldn't smell any gas or anything." That is funny since he had earlier said the visual check was for a real safety problem and him saying if he had seen anything dangerously cracked or corroded on the heat exchanger, he would have to Red Tag and shut the furnace down. Why could he get away by just pass it off by saying he couldn't smell anything wrong? He then had me sign some billing forms on an electronic pad, turned on the furnace main switch, checked the upstairs thermostat, and left. Later that evening a lady from Advanced called me and asked how Kade did. I really unloaded on her with the problems I had seen with his service. The next morning, I awoke at 4:45 am and the house temperature was 56 deg F. After doing some investigating and reading my thermostat books, I finally figured out that if the furnace has been shut down for more than 15 minutes, you must go to the furnace mounted remote unit and press a reset button so it can communicate with the upstairs thermostat. The repairman evidently hadn't made sure everything was working before he left. Later that morning Josh, the Advanced Customs Service Manager called me to hear the complaints I had reported late the day before. I expressed them to him and he graciously apologized and said he would use what I told him when he met with the service technicians. I know it wasn't his fault but their slogan is: "My Father Can Do That". I'm sure he can but he has people that "Can't Do That" working for him that he sends out and they don't seem to really care. I'm sure that Advanced tries hard to have a good working team working for them but they have problems there. The result: I have had other run-ins with Advanced Home Services on their scheduling service and them calling at the last minute telling me why they can't keep the appointment, rescheduling and then the no show again, etc. They also charge $99.99 per item for each thing they do other than the few basic operations checks covered on the free service check call. I have tried contacting them by phone for information a couple of times. I got a recording saying: "We are busy helping other customers but your call is very important to us." "Please leave your name and phone number and we will get back to you." After an hour or so of not hearing back from them, I've called again and received the same message. I can't wait forever. I have other things to do too! In 2015 I had Advanced replace a new Air Conditioner, "A" coil unit, heat thermostat, and for 3-yr free A/C & Furnace checks. Since then, I have really regretted my contracted purchase. I later found out I actually paid over double for what I would have had to pay for everything from someone else. It was my fault though for not getting bids first! So, in the future, if I ever need something, they advertise they sell, install, inspect, or repair, I will look elsewhere for that service. read more

We had a great experience! Our old furnace ended up unusable with a big crack at 4:45pm the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday). Trying to find a company that could come out and replace it was a nightmare. I called 20 places leaving messages and the best I could get was a tentative "We can look at it Monday". However, Excellence called me back right away and he said he could get us a technician to come out Friday after Thanksgiving. Jordan arrived as advertised with the furnace in hand, expecting a simple job. Our house is an old nightmare, so it ended up taking him at least 6 hours. He never complained, and by 7pm our house had heat again! We were very happy with the fast and courteous service. read more

I would never recommend this company based on our experience with them. We purchased a new boiler from Brian in March 2017 and have had nothing but problems with it from the day it was installed. At first Brian was responsive but once he realized he had no clue has to how to fix the problems, he stopped returning calls and responding to text messages. It blows fuses constantly which shuts the boiler (and heat) off. We have been without heat several times. Brian said he was going to get a rep out here to look at it and never did. We were away this past week and a neighbor checking the house noticed a water leak from the boiler and called me. I was able to get a local HVAC guy to the house to look at it and he ended up having to shut off our water to the house which means we have no water and no hydronic heat in our downstairs. I sent a text to Brian on my way home yesterday and have not received a response. The other HVAC guy said he is going to try and find parts but we may need to replace this piece of junk for something that works all of the time. And here we are with no water and no downstairs heat with an expected 8 degrees tonight. read more

I used this company recently, and I had an AMAZING experience! The installation tech Mack was so professional, friendly, and knowledgable. He was very patient when I was expressing my concerns about the new furnace I was having installed. He answered every question with out hesitation. I felt so comfortable and secure about everything that was going to be done. Not only was the installation done quickly and efficiently, Mack left my home clean....not tracking in dirt like other companies I have used in the past. He even took all the trash out after!! This was an extremely pleasant experience, and at a VERY competitive rate. I would highly recommend Excellence Heating and Cooling for any kind of furnace repair or installation....And for the record ladies....Mack is VERY easy on the eyes!! Please do not make the same mistake we did and use Excellence Heating for your heating and cooling needs. We came home the evening of the 27th of November 2018 with no heat in our house. I spent that night trying to identify the issue myself instead of calling a repair man. After not being able to diagnose the problem, we called Excellence the morning of the 28th of November 2018. They sent out a repairman to fix our furnace. The repairman explained that the issue was not with the furnace but with our thermostat (our thermostat was a Nest and was installed June 2018). He sold us a new thermostat for $50, charged us $90 for the work and left. My wife left the home as the heat seemed to be working and went back to work. When we got home from work the evening of the 28th of November 2018, we had no heat again. We called Excellence and they sent another repairman out that evening at no charge. After he got the heat working again we asked if we could receive a refund for the thermostat as it wasn't a thermostat issue. He said he wasn't authorized to offer a refund on that and stated that there wasn't a misdiagnosis previously. He said the problem was still with our thermostat. We woke up the morning of November 29, 2018 with no heat again. Finally, we called a repairman not associated with Excellence. He spent approximately 4 hours at our home, the same amount of time Excellence did total, and diagnosed us with a bad circuit board. He replaced that circuit board and our heat is working and we have had no further issues. There was no issue with our thermostat. We have called Excellence multiple times to see if they would be willing to refund us any portion of our payments as they didn't solve our issue. At first, they were willing to refund us the $50 for the thermostat, but in subsequent communications through the Better Business Bureau, they have rescinded that offer. The only difference in my life prior to calling Excellence and afterward is that I lost $140. My heating wasn't fixed and they didn't take the time to do the job correctly. read more

You do NOT want to call Excellence!! We called and asked for them to come and check on our fireplaces in need of repair. We were informed that it would cost $6,000 to replace them, and that if he broke my tile that it would be on ME to fix! What?? I also need to mention, that after a second opinion we found out it they ARE fixable! Basically, Brian thought he could take us to the cleaners instead of being HONEST!
