Pros Our caregiver was a great emotional match for my mom…read more Our caregiver was trustworthy Cons Because I live in close proximity to my mother, I was able to see the concerns noted here, first hand. The caregiver provided to us told us she did not cook- I cooked dinners for almost one year and packaged them weekly for both my mother and the caregiver. Our caregiver did cook scrambled eggs. She did utilize a microwave to reheat the dinners I cooked and packed for her for the almost year she was with us. The caregiver provided to us vacuumed twice in the year she was with us-once because we requested it bc of an upcoming carpet cleaning and once in response to our having contacted and brought Tanya in for a conversation. Our caregiver did not do light cleaning. *Photo#1 is an infection caused by not wiping skin completely. We had no idea she had such an infection until hospice showed us on the first day of their services. (We brought hospice in-not from European care. Outside hospice provided a healthcare worker 2x per week, a nurse, a doctor to direct end of life care, equipment including a hospital bed and oxygen, access to team members, pastoral support and very necessary supplies such as briefs, creams, wipes and meds. *Photo #2 is called shearing. We also didn't know this was happening until my mom's first day of hospice services (that we brought in) and they brought it to our attention. Shearing is caused from yanking a brief out from under the patient. The issues of cooking and cleaning were brought to Tanya's attention in October. My mom was in hospice and no longer eating much so cooking became irrelevant. Our caregiver never did do light house keeping. With the help of hospice, and my taking over personal care for two weeks (except middle of the night refreshes) , her infections cleared up. There is discrepancy about what my brothers would rate vs what my sister and I would rate, as the girls picked up all the slack for cooking, cleaning and infection clearing. Tanya did tell us we should have contacted her sooner, with cooking and cleaning issues, we did not want to make waves because one brother uses the services for his father in law and our caregiver was a great emotional match for my mom. When I did contact Tanya and I met with both her and our caregiver, Tanya did not follow up. When contacted a second time for a new situation, Tanya's immediate response was to try to reach my brother by contacting my sister in law via email-who is not a POA-to voice her own concerns.

Capital immediately provided equipment, hospice nursing, medication and a twenty-four call line. We are so grateful for the attention of care that Mom and the family was provided- even a visiting Chaplain on the morning of Mom's passing. Candace and Benjamin of Capital were the angels that enabled us to safely meet Mom's needs.

We used…read moreHarvest 5 - 7 hours a day, 5 - 7 days a week, from February until October when my mother passed away. Vanria and Tracey run the place, both are extremely nice and very professional. If our care giver was running 15 minutes late, I would always hear from Vanria. If you called for Vanria or Tracey, they always picked up the phone regardless of the day or time I called. We had a primary caregiver 4 - 6 days a week and then a 2nd caregiver 1 - 3 days a week. Primary changed along the way, Zoe, Brittany, and in the end Krystal. Change over 8 months is inevitable and as much as I regretted losing someone we were used to; the next caregiver was as good or better than her predecessor. Joyce was our 2nd caregiver for the additional 1 - 3 days a week over the 8 months. In the end we had Krystal and Joyce taking care of my mother as she transitioned into hospice and end of life. I remember the 1st time Joyce walked into our home with the nicest smile. I knew I liked her before she said a word. Krystal is not only compassionate and caring; she is also very intelligent and adaptable. I think a good caregiver finds her own way to be useful and make things easier for the care recipient and family. We never told Krystal what to do, she knew what to do and did it on her own. When my mother and I had an appointment with mom's oncologist, I liked having Krystal with us and welcomed her input at the appointment. Krystal always remembered pertinent things, that I forgot to mention, and she brought them up to the Dr. Krystal & Joyce were front line and knew better than I what my mom's condition was. Hospice gets tough and the old saying goes when the going gets tough the tough get going. Krystal and Joyce are two tough ladies! Joyce and Krystal both stepped it up as the workload required. More than just being there to help, both are extremely compassionate and caring. I don't recall ever having to ask Joyce or Krystal to do something. Rather they did what was needed without being asked (they knew better than me, what was needed), and often volunteered or asked if they could do more. I guess to sum it up; I can't imagine Krystal or Joyce treating their own mothers any better than they treated my mother. I don't usually write reviews and never to this length; Harvest went above & beyond and deserves the praise.

I wish I would have gotten the name of the night staff assistant that was exceptionally kind to me. Even encouraging me to stay later on June 5th, the night he passed, "I think you should stay this evening." My biggest issue with this facility is, every single day we had a staffing to discuss my husband's "lack of passing". Their goal was for him to pass in 7 days. Consequently each day we had a staffing to discuss "Plan B". Translated, "What are you going to do if he does not pass?" It wasn't painful enough that I was waiting for my husband of 24 years to die, but I had to worry about moving him out of this location to some other place if he didn't hurry up an die. I am sure this was about insurance. Apparently 2 separate types of insurance isn't enough. They never offered for me to pay out of pocket. Cold hard facts: Hurry up and die or move him out of here. Thank goodness the staff was nicer than the business model.
