The front desk couldn't figure out how much I owed them and were just tacking on anything they thought I'd owe, which was strange. I asked them to just send me a bill instead, which they did. They did what they could but told me to contact a dermatologist for further treatment and diagnosis. After multiple offices told me I'd have to wait weeks to months, Renu Dermatology was able to get me in the same week. Dr. Nguyen performed a punch biopsy on my skin, thoroughly explained the lab results to me, and provided the proper treatment. I also got treated here for my eczema. He prescribed medication that gave me the clearest skin I've seen in YEARS. I was finally able to wear clothes I couldn't wear before due to insecurity about my skin's appearance. I eventually ran out of the medication, so my eczema has been gradually returning. I plan on scheduling another appointment. I previously went to my primary care doctor for help with my eczema, but I always felt rushed, had to wait a long time despite having an appointment, the staff weren't very knowledgeable, were rude, the treatment was ineffective, and I was referred to a dermatologist with poor reviews. It ruined my view of seeking dermatologic care until I found Renu Dermatology. Dr. Nguyen and Nurse Vanessa are amazing. Nurse Vanessa was always in the room during my appointments, which made me feel more comfortable. They take their time with appointments, are gentle, listen carefully, and explain things thoroughly. They're punctual as well--I never experienced long wait times here. The office is located in the Martin Luther Medical Plaza with plenty of parking. Many of the offices look similar, so make sure to read the signs carefully.

My last visit sometime in December 2025, I made clear that I was just visiting from Chicago, but they marked me for a check up a month after. They refused to refill my medications until I see the doctor again. They also said that the face wash can only be refilled within 6 months.... Wasn't notified of that before... and I would do annual visits in the past. Anyways, now that I'm back in California with an even better insurance, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. He spends majority of the time with you on his phone (most likely charting) but still, I would like my acne to be looked at before given prescriptions. What he had been prescribing had not been working, and at my last appointment, I came in requesting to be put on a popular acne medication for women. He began a rant how he doesn't prescribe that and how I will struggle with infertility due to my age and that the medication would make it worse. While this may be true, the bedside manner in which this was told to me was harsh and too blunt. He prescribed me instead a medication that was $200, which is too much for me to pay for a medication that may or may not work. He had also told me at one of my recent appointments that I had perioral dermatitis. After now seeing a new dermatologist, everything he had told me was not true (false information about the medication, my diagnosis). If possible; avoid coming here. My concerns were not heard and my skin was barely even glanced at.

He proceeded to give me a negative attitude because I was cancelling. He calculated that the office was losing money because I was cancelling after six months. At one appointment where Sue (PA) was giving me a laser procedure. Sue quoted me a price of $80 to include a serum with my procedure. Edward was at the door and said oh no the price is $100 over riding Sue's price. This was so unprofessional to shout out a higher price. Once a year they have an "open house." At the last open house they had a raffle drawing. A few days passed and on Instagram Edward draws the names of the winners and just announces the first name. This method of announcing first names only is very deceptive and shady. I will miss going to Sue (PA) because she knows her stuff. I first started coming here when I was a college student in my early 20s. Back then, I lived only about 5 or 10 minutes away, and my skin was honestly a mess. I had a lot of acne, whiteheads, blackheads, acne scars, basically everything. My skin was one of the things I was the most stressed and insecure about. Now, almost 10 years later, I don't really struggle with acne anymore. Of course skin changes with age, so now I come for completely different concerns. I usually do treatments like microneedling, Sylfirm, and other maintenance treatments. Lately I have also been stressing about aging, so they are still stuck with me lol. The biggest reason I continue to come here is that I actually feel cared for. I have tried a few places in LA because Fullerton is honestly far from me now, but the experiences were just not the same. Some places felt rushed, not very friendly, or like they were giving everyone the same recommendation. Here, they actually look closely at my skin and tells me what would be helpful for me specifically. I never feel like I am just another customer. And the staff really makes a difference. Alex at the front is always so sweet, patient, and helpful. Jenny and Sunah are both amazing and have taken care of my skin for years. I have known some of the staff since before COVID, and seeing the same people there for so many years makes me feel even more comfortable and trusting of the clinic. I work full time and live in LA, but I still drive over an hour to Fullerton for my appointments. Sometimes I complain about the drive while I'm doing it, but I keep going because I genuinely trust their skills and the way they treat people. I'm a teacher, and people still mistake me for a student pretty often. I know genetics and skincare at home matter too, but I honestly consider this clinic one of the biggest contributors to how my skin looks today. I'm very thankful to the doctor, Alex, Jenny, Sunah, and everyone else who has taken care of me over the years.
