I arrived an hour early for my cut. I asked where the closest atm was. I went down and withdrew the funds and came back 15mins before my appointment. I was called to get my cut on time, but I asked to use the bathroom to pee before sitting down. Whilst in the bathroom, I heard the barber converse with the next client, who arrived significantly after me. The client stated that he thought he had a 1pm appointment, but actually had a 1:30pm appointment and was in a hurry because he had a doctor's appointment. When I came out of the bathroom, the barber was beginning to cut the next guy's hair. I was in the bathroom for about 2mins. Absolutely amateur hour scheduling practices! I was told that I'd have to wait, or reschedule. Totally unacceptable. I was there first, and spent my whole day planning around this. I have been to a lot of places in Spokane to get my hair cut and this hands down was the best experience. I am a quintessential Gen X guy who doesn't know anything about hair care just that I want to be taken care of and look good at the end. Dougie really hooked it up. I showed him a picture and he looked at my hair and we discussed a few things and he worked some magic. The upgraded beard experience was exceptional and was worth every penny, especially the hot towel massage which almost put me to sleep. The shop is a small establishment but comfortable with some classic rock playing in the background and a TV on if you want to watch something while being cut. Dougie is a colorful character but you can tell right away that it's not an act, he really cares that you look good and feel good when you leave his shop and honestly he made me feel like a million bucks. WORST HAIRCUT EVER!!! I have been going here for about 6…read moremonths with Mathew. So when I arrived for my next haircut, I was told he had double-booked himself and offered to reschedule. Then the other barber, who was introduced as the owner, offered to cut my hair. I thought that would be okay, so I sat in his chair. I explained that I wanted a trim and cut the back up to get rid of the length. So I knew I was in trouble when he started doing a buzz cut on the side of my head. Next thing I knew, I realized I was getting a Military Basic Training shave. Since I couldn't see the mirror, I was hoping I was wrong. But No. It was all gone, and he ended up leaving two tuffs on top at the edges of my skull (imagine the original Red Skelton haircut). As an old man (75), I've been proud that my hair was still growing well and was mostly medium-dark. Now the only thing showing is white stumble. I will never go back to this House of Horrors again.
