This temp agency claims to have connections in the entertainment industry, but they don't seem very helpful when it comes to actually getting a job through them. Every time I call, they say they have my resume on file, but then mention that their clients usually request temps by name. When I expressed how hard it is to land a job, especially in entertainment, they suggested maybe it's a sign I should quit and explore other interests. I recommend this temp agency to anyone who wants to gain more assistant experience in the entertainment industry. After the writers' strike, they kept me employed at places like NBCU, Dreamworks Animation and Warner Bros. for two-and-a-half years, with almost no breaks in employment. While on the job, if I ever found myself in a tough situation or needed advice, I could always count on Ted or Stacy to take my calls and give me encouragement, wisdom and/or tough love. I felt like they always had my back and genuinely cared about me both professionally and personally. Keep in mind that permanent job offers in your area of interest aren't necessarily Ted and Stacy's end goal. They aim to match qualified temps with the needs of their clients. The rest is up to you. Permanent job offers might present themselves organically as a result of your experiences, and at that point, you have the inside knowledge you need to make the right decision for you. That's what great about temping -- you get to try a job, department or company before you commit to it. If it's not the right fit for you, take what you learned (or earned) from that experience and move on. I agree with a previous review about the seminar. It's a great resource for newer assistants, and I even found parts of it to be helpful for a more seasoned assistant. While it may not be necessary, taking the seminar shows initiative and investment on your part. They key is approaching those few hours (like all your jobs and life experiences) with humility and the right attitude. read more

I've had experience with several temp agencies in the LA area, and this one is reputable to say the least. Several other reviewers have made comments about the seminars that this agency offers. Here's my take: The seminars are there as a resource and would be really good for someone who is new to the industry or new to the workforce from college. I've certainly never felt pressured to take part, and my getting temp assignments had nothing to do with whether I participated in the seminars or not. The process here is very straightforward. You apply and then they will call you to come in for a computer skills test and interview. Executive Temps seems to be more selective than other temp agencies I've worked with, and as a result they expect some participation. E.g. Calling with your availability and letting them know you have arrived at your job location. All in all I feel like I'm in good hands, and I would recommend them to others. read more

I don't know if these people really get anyone hired. They must because they have been around for a while. But the fact that they make you pay to to attend a seminar by the company's founder sets off alarm bells for me. Employment agencies only make money if you make money. Almost all of them will help develop you as an employee in order to get you a job. I have had agency's help me write my resume, work on my typing speed, and even learn excel. They are usually great. This company wanted me to pay them money for training and I have never experienced that before. It just seemed a little strange. I signed up with this agency because they service one of the bigger studios- one of them is Disney/ ABC- and thought that they would be legit since they are the exclusive temp agency for Disney/ ABC. Boy was I WRONG. First off, the office is some hole-in-the-wall place that they cram their employees into in Burbank. Their owners and employees do not present themselves in a professional manner (appearance, manners, etiquette, etc.) Third, you go to "group interviews" during their hiring process which consists of filling out loads and loads of paperwork as well as computer efficiency testing. After that is over, they try and sell you their "workshops" for $65 a pop. They were definitely preying on the desperate and needy. It very much reminded me of those "workshops" where a company promises freebies that may very well be legit on one end, but you can only redeem it if you purchase an expensive and useless timeshare or condo. Yea. No thanks. After a few months of calling in and not getting a single assignment from this agency- They always said it was "slow" (I now work at a major studio because of my experience & professionalism) I asked for my paperwork back so that I do not risk identity theft or some other shiestiness this company is bound to be caught doing. I have been working on and off for Executive Temps over a number of years. Executive Temps placed me in 2 Presidents office at Disney/ABC; Alex Wallau, ABC Network and Angela Shapiro, ABC Family. Ted and Stacy also placed me in the Talent Development Department and I managed the Disney/ABC Writing Program with Frank Gonzalez for 7 years. My dream was to work in the industry creatively, and this happened through Executive Temps; I worked for the Jamie Fox Show and Politically Incorrect. I was laid off from in Disney/ABC in 2013 and Executive Temps was there to support me as I pursued my dream to become a Literary Manager. The company does have a relationship with Disney/ABC. Can I give them zero starts? My first clue that this was a scam was when they called me at 8:30pm on a Monday! I called them back the next morning and they lectured me about the need to have passion to work in the entertainment industry. This is after I told them I have work on film and television sets for over three years and have worked as an assistant at a major commercial editorial firm in LA, not to mention my bachelors degree from one of the most recognized film school in the US. They named dropped a little and lectured a little more and then the punch line...they wanted me to take a workshop and PAY for it. It's that what I did for my BA? Four years of paying for workshops. I walked into this agency after being with another great agency but hoping to make it to DreamWorks or Disney. In less than two weeks I had a long term assignment at DreamWorks and have been recently made full-time. I decided to leave a review as a thank you. But from reading all the other reviews it is clear that not everyone is going to have a great experience. This agency wants people who are looking to be great assistants which isn't for everyone. Yes, they even push a book on how to be a great assistant because they believe it will help you. No, you don't have to buy one to get hired. Living proof, right here. And there were at least 25 people being interviewed when I walked in the door which means they do get lets of inquiries and that they may turn qualified candidates away. I know of 4 people that are now full-time employees at Disney, Sony and OWN after having gone through this agency. Not sure what the personal issue is with those that bothered to spend time writing bad reviews for this company but maybe they had personality issues. This place advertises itself as a way for entry level, just out of college grads to get entry level jobs in the industry. But Once there, I was told by a gentlemen working there that I had little to no chance because there are people with years of experience ahead of me. But they had seen my resume before they invited me down because I sent that in as part of their qualifying process. So why waste my time in asking me to come by for an interview? Well, the conversation quickly turned to some seminar that the owner was having and I would increase my chances of getting hired if I went to it. The seminar is certainly not free btw. I was fooled into wasting my time and gas to come down and try and be sold on going to their seminars. Be wary of this place. I was told by the gentlemen interviewing me that they have few jobs, most are just a few days a week and they seldom get the occasional longer jobs. It was interesting to listen to the owner come in and immediately start her spiel on this is the company to work for if you want to get started working with people like Steven Spielberg, bs I say. Shame on this company for trying to shake us down for our hard earned money. STAY AWAY!!!! I would give this joke of an agency zero stars if I could. Everyone from the front desk secretary to the recruiter who "interviews" you come across as grossly unprofessional, and at times, rude. I should have known stepping in to the office (that is essentially an apartment in an apartment complex), that something was off. I was warned by two other friends who had used them not to waste my time. Ted, the manager, gave me a predatory vibe and was extremely awkward in talking with. After signing up with them, and passing the testing with flying colors, I was excited to receive a call thinking it might be an assignment. To my dismay, it was them calling to ask me to BUY a spot in a seminar THEY were putting on. I have a Master's degree, and have worked for a major studio. I do not think I need to attend a workshop held by these incompetent "recruiters". When I turned it down, I have not heard from them since. Luckily, I quickly secured a position on my own at a studio without their help. But from start to finish, I knew this place was a JOKE and felt very uneasy with the way they conducted business. Please do yourself a favor and register with a reputable agency such as AppleOne, Randstad or Act1 (and many others). read more

Very confused by the bad reviews. I had been with Act I, Apple One, Comar, etc. Executive Temps paid almost double the salary of those other temp companies. They kept me steadily employed. I worked for the top executives at Disney, CW, DreamWorks, WB among others. I was hired at Disney twice through them in full time amazing jobs (I took a break to have a child). I can also verify that yes Executive Temps is the main temp company for Disney-ABC. Disney uses them because the temps are higher quality who know the industry and are more satisfied with their hourly wage. I was never pressured or even asked to attend one of their seminars. Ted was always great and very helpful. I recommend them to everyone! read more

When I relocated back to Los Angeles my timing was horrible. I landed here smack in the middle of the economic downturn. All the major entertainment studios were just beginning rounds of company-wide layoffs and cutbacks. I have a Masters in film and in the past worked fulltime at two of the larger film Studios, but I couldn't break through the external hiring freezes. There were no jobs. So, when I looked at temping, I knew I wanted to find an entertainment based company. I didn't want to take the chance of ending up in law or medical offices. I wanted back inside the game. Executive Temps was suggested by a friend. After the interview process, I knew it was my first choice and last stop. I appreciated their interview process. It's not a revolving cattle call. Instead, qualified candidates are selected from applications and brought in one day each month for interviews and testing. During the interview I was asked by Stacy Milner, the Owner, what I wanted to do and where I would most like to see myself. She took the time to listen to me and offered suggestions of areas that might help me get there. After working with them for a year and a half, I understand why the interview process is so selective. I've worked at TNT, ABC, Disney, and the CW and at each, Executive Temps was the preferred temp company. The Owners, Stacy and Ted Milner, cultivate a temp pool that consistently delivers the support Studio Executives expect. Not only that, I've never worked in an environment where temps already in the company helped new temps get up to speed. My first assignment, I was actually given a briefing by Ted and the current temp in the department on the specifics of the job and the Executive's needs. It made my transition seamless and worry free. I also became an immediate known commodity that people wanted to work with. A word about the seminar: I too was concerned initially about paying the $60 for the seminar. It wasn't pushed on me. It was mentioned as something that was available to me. And to be honest, even with all my previous experience I took the seminar in the hopes that it might help me stand out as a team player. I liked Stacy and Ted and wanted them to know I wanted to work with them. However, after taking the seminar, I am so glad that I did. Even with my previous studio experience, there was just so much information I didn't have at my fingertips. Stacy Milner ran us through live exercises, department procedures and protocols, and basically provided all the options for finding what you needed to know without bothering the Executives you are there to support. A week later, because of the seminar, I was able to use her notes to develop my routine on my first assignment. So glad that I avoided the unnecessary embarrassment of thinking I knew enough to get by. I stood out and each assignment since created an opportunity to develop the relationships I needed to excel. As I said, I worked for Executive Temps for a year and a half. I stayed employed that entire time with the exception of three weeks (cumulative) between a few jobs. A month ago I was hired full time at a major network, my second job offer in the last 3 months found thru executive temps. And interestingly enough, I am right down the hall from my first assignment in the same area I discussed with Stacy during my interview. This is just my experience. I no longer work with them because they succeeded in helping me find my path into a challenging full time position at a major network. The only reason I am not giving this company five stars is because I have not actually been placed on an assignment yet. They have placed me in several major networks and studios and I recently turned the last assignment into a permanent job. I worked for this agency 20 years ago and they were excellent. They sent me on great assignments (including long-term placements at Paramount TV and Warner Bros. Animation), were friendly and easy to work with, and got me off to a great start working in the business end of the entertainment business. I don't know what to say about the negative reviews except that they don't reflect my experience with this agency at all. I guess it's possible that they've changed since I worked with them, but I'd be very surprised if they'd changed that much. read more

A previous reviewer commented that the reason reviewers had a problem with this company was because they wanted a quick fix which is inaccurate. I have been temping with other entertainment agencies and was going to give this one a chance. They called me and the first think he said was "have you seen our website and the workshop coming up". I told him I couldn't afford it and he told me I needed to find a way or they wouldn't help me. He was a salesman...and as a girl from a long line of car salesmen I can smell bullshit. My experience with Executive Temps was awesome! True, it's not in a glamorous office building. But you are not trying to get a job there. The owners have great connections with studio executives at all the studios. True, you have to fill out paperwork, but you will have to do that at any temp agency. True, you must persevere and call a few times to let them know you are available and it may take a while. You are not the only person they have looking for a job! And true, they will send their best out there - so be your best! Ted and his team were very professional, friendly, helpful and thoughtful. They sent me out to a few positions that were beyond what I could ever get on my own and I worked every day - with maybe a week in between positions. I highly recommend Executive Temps to acquaintances and friends who find themselves out of a job. I've worked with other temp agencies in my life and no one compares. I'm reading some of these reviews, and I have to ask what company you all are talking about? I worked as a temp through this company for about 1 1/2 years, worked pretty much every day (granted, the economy was better then), and I ended up being hired into great full-time job at the end of it. No one even mentioned a seminar in that whole time. I've also now worked with several temps who they have sent to my office, and I've been consistently impressed by the level of experience, skill and professionalism of each of them. I do know that they are extremely selective about who they chose to take on, but I've also found that one of the reasons is that they are loyal to the people they work with and trust. Some temp companies seem to be okay with sending a warm body, but I feel like Executive Temps tries to ensure that they are sending the best person for the job. As to the people who stated that they don't work with Disney, they absolutely DO. Different Disney divisions use different temp companies. Ted, Stacy and their staff are not only legit, but very professional and good at what they do. So what if they don't have fancy offices? Look at the product, not the packaging.
