Another weekend away from home means another chance to put my Planet Fitness Black Card Membership to use. This time I ended up at the Planet Fitness in the Golden Ring area. As I pulled in, I was excited as usual at the ample parking. Also, as the gym sits in the corner, it is directly in front of you as you turn into the shopping center. The front has the traditional PF branding of the open face front and vibrant attention grabbing lighting. Though this location has significantly less square footage than my home location, the owners have made great use of the space. There is a nice selection of equipment as well as the equipment is positioned in a way that allows for there to not only be multiple options, but there is enough space for you to work out in comfort and not be super close to the person next to you. Absolutely the worst planet fitness I've ever been too. Machines sit broken for weeks on end. The signs are often underneath or somewhere you can't see and people are trying to use broken machines which is dangerous. The water fountain has been broken 3 times in the last 6 months and doesn't get fixed with any kind of urgency so you're forced to buy their $8 water. Weights left all over the floor. Trash cans always full and often out of paper towels. I suppose this is what you get for the cheapest gym but this location is by far the worst ran out of all of the ones I've been to. read more

Normally the staff is pretty attentive but there's a new woman working here who is very unfriendly. Was never greeted upon entering, and after saying hello she rudely glared at me and kept walking. She also saw me waiting at the front desk waiting to checkout and stayed sat at a table playing on her phone the entire time. Would recommend this gym just not this location. Noisy and dirty in the middle of Renovation. Don't expect to use any black card benefits. They have training classes posted online but it's hit or miss if the trainer is there. The kids at the desk don't give AF. It's a cheap gym. It is what it is. read more

This PF is a little out of the way for me but it's the closest one to where I work so it's worth it to go 10-15 minutes out of the way. This location is hardly as busy compared to the Aberdeen location. I've been a PF member for a few years now and this is just like any other location. My only complaint is that the machines are a little lacking compared to other locations. The staff is always friendly and the machines are clean. The bathroom and locker rooms are almost always spotless. read more

Pretty average PF location. Not the greatest selection of machines compared to other locations. Usually clean and the customer service can be hit and miss. I did a one day pass that I found online. The staff was accommodating. They asked to see my IS though while other planet fitness gyms did not (for the one day pass). The person that helped me was Breona. She told me everything was before I could even ask, which I liked! The gum was standard, like any other planet fitness gym. It was very clean. The locker room was small but that's not anything major. I am not sure what type of music they played as I had my own music. The only bad thing about the gym is that it is located right ext to checkers(the fast food chain ) so try not to let that tempt you. read more

Last night I had an intimidating situation at golden ring planet fitness; after running for about 35 minutes using a machine located in front of the desk I heard loud laughing from 2 men and a woman too but her laugh was not loud, I almost fell off the machine because it actually scared me but they didn't seem to notice they were causing problems for me, I don't wear ear buds so I could hear them, but their behavior was not stopping I thought they might have been under the influence of drugs, but I needed to continue to exercise. I decided to tell them to stop and that they were being disrespectful with their crazy sounds, but they were actually upset by my request. I told them I would complain to their manager. Despite my efforts of trying to resolve the issue, the Woman said "to exactly who your are going to complain? These are my employees and I don't have any problems with what they are doing, I am the manager. So I asked for their names (BRANDON, JACOB and the manager April F.) as I went back to the machine the 2 man started to laugh like maniacs again, this time it was only louder. They were very disrespectful! My husband came in to exercise 15 minutes later, I told him what was happening. I moved from that area because I knew they were making fun of me, but my husband stayed and he said they were still doing same thing for about another 40 minutes. They seemed like mentally challenged individuals. As I was leaving I had to return a lock and key to them, such an uncomfortable situation. We live in a world where paying to be able to exercise peaceful is not a option anymore, I hope the owner(s) read this, those kind of employees are not the kind you want to have in your business. read more

Pretty standard Planet Fitness. You know what you're going to get, and what you're not. This location was clean, equipment was well maintained, and there was plenty of cardio as well as strength training equipment. Flat screen tvs showing a variety of programming, with closed captioning was a nice touch too. I would prefer more upbeat music to be played (we are working out, after all), but that's a small thing. Front desk staff was pleasant as well. I got a great workout while visiting the area, so I've got no complaints! read more

I've been a member to a lot of gyms in my life. I joined Planet Fitness a month ago after I moved. The location is very convenient on my way to and from work. There is ample parking. The staff are very nice. I am always greeted with a warm hello and goodbye. The exercise machines all work which is unusual because in the past at other places I always come across broken machines. The gym and locker areas are always clean. Again another rarity at a gym. I love the fact that it's a non judgement gym. I see all shapes and sizes at the gym working out which is so nice to see. No intimidation whatsoever. I really am thankful to workout at this gym. read more

I've had a membership at Planet Fitness for about two years and have been enrolled at two different PF establishments, so I like to think I have a pretty good idea of how things work around there. Seems the staff is about the same, only willing to go above and beyond if you really beg. Although I must admit that the Pulaski Highway employees are more attentive at keeping the gym sanitized and clean, which is always a plus! There aren't any classes to take at planet fitness, but there are plenty of machines.. so there is no need to ever worry about the machines being taken and full. There isn't a lot of standing around and waiting, its basically a place of business - meaning you get your workout in and get out. You also won't see too many guys hovering around the mirror, looking at their "overly sized" (peanut) muscles. Although you'll see it happen occasionally, it definitely isn't on the reg. Overall, you can't beat the $10 or $20/a month membership price. I personally pay the $20 because you can bring unlimited guests (1 per day at your home gym only) and unlimited tanning, if that's you're sorta thing. Its actually cheaper to pay the $20 to PF, than to buy a tanning membership and a gym membership. Honestly though... I'm just at the gym to lift things up and put them down. read more

This location is small compared to the one I usually go too. But, I was in the area and needed to get a workout in. They have plenty of equipment. Most of it is kept in good shape but I did notice some tears in the seating on a few machines. Not really a big deal though. They have the 30 minute circuit, but they don't have the 12 minute abs area like my usual location does. They have a few tanning beds, and they do have massage chairs. However everything is in one area so it feels cramped. The locker rooms are clean, which is always a plus. The staff could work on their attitudes. As someone who works in a gym (not at a PF, but I still work in one) I can't let bad attitudes go. Leave your drama at the door. You're here to greet people and check them in. Your job is probably the easiest job ever. Trust me. I know first hand. The other gym members are polite and won't make you feel rushed when they wait for your machine. Overall this is a solid gym, but the staff needs to get over themselves. read more

The front desk team member Nicolas is a condescending obnoxious jerk. He hates women and and should be retrained in customer service etiquette. No excuse for being a rude jerk to people patronizing this location. Other than that it was kinda clean, no paper towels in the bathroom and the dryers don't work but it's Golden ring so you can only expect so much. Retrain Nic or have him clean away from people as he does not have that gift. read more

This gym isn't for the body builder and is just enough of a gym for people who are trying to maintain their physique. However, it's perfect for those who sparingly work out or are trying to get in shape. It's more of a stepping stone. The good things about this gym are the price, the free training and hours of operation. The bad things about this gym are the guys that act like they've never seen a woman before (I've even seen one guy approach a couple different women on various occasions with the same "trying to be complimentary and helpful" technique), the over-saturation of treadmills and elliptical machines and extreme lack of weight benches (more likely designed to keep away the "intimidating" gym-goers"). read more

Just visited this location for the first time and HOLY SHIT, they are NOT requiring people to wear masks. The place was clearly packed beyond their advertised 126 person capacity and everyone is just spraying spit and snot and sweat all over all of the machines. No cleaning teams seen going around, nothing. I approached the front desk to complain and that's when I was told that the no-mask policy was standard at this location. STAY AWAY. read more

I've been a member of Planet fitness since late 2007, and I've been coming to this location since they opened last year. This is a great location to suit your weight training and cardio purposes. There are plenty of machines, so even if it's busy, you're bound to find a spot. They say they offer group sessions for training and fitness, but I've never had an opportunity to try them out. The locker rooms are clean and orderly, with plenty of lockers. My only gripe is that there aren't ample showers or comfortable changing stations, so I wouldn't recommend planning on showering here unless you come when it's not busy (as you'll be waiting a while). The staff here tend to be nice and helpful, and you can always expect to come here and have a good workout without worrying about feeling pressured about timing on equipment, or rude people/staff. I've yet to have a bad experience here, and I always walk away feeling glad I have such a great work out environment. read more

This is a very small and congested location. The equipment is old and the place smells like stale body odor. I was not greeted hello nor goodbye. This is where all of the people of Walmart come right after they inject meth. I would drive further away and go to a different location next time. This place is as public as it gets... I mean dudes are literally leaving weights on the bars, not cleaning up after themsleves, using multiple machines at once... like today 3 dudes were all using the smith machines, for 1 hour 34 minutes... how do I know this cause I was in there for an hour 30. I mean one dude in blues built a little camp around the smith, he has like 5 water bottles, half the gyms dumbbells and some other things around him and if that's not bad enough he literally goes to other sections of the gym hits a quick workout and claims he's still using the smith like what the fuck? Some other dudes been doing bench presses the whole time that's not even the problem it's that he's on his phone for 90% of it or laying down after a single rep... and another dude seems like he's actually going through a routine so he doesn't really bother me... But is there not a time limit on how long you can stay in a machine I mean fuck it I might as well build a gym bro camp at the smith machine and just leave everything there cause you guys obviously accept that shit... the employees don't even try to enforce rules they sit there on there phones and seem annoyed when somebody buys something... I mean we all have jobs so we understand being tired but god damn this is every single day only like 2 dudes walk around and time to time tell dudes they've been on something too long. And just don't even invest in black card half the "benefits" don't even apply to this gym . Go invest in a gym like merit or something this place sucks! read more

Today I experience the worse Customer Service ever. I took my son to workout for positive redirect and the lady at the front told me I needed a Birth Certificate or state ID for him. This was not a big deal but the nonchalant attitude was a Big problem. I have been a member for 10 years and I ended my membership because of her attitude. i was a member here for two years and may have used the gym a total of 10 times lol. there was nothing wrong with the gym itself.... very clean, well maintained. i just was not that keen on the planet fitness concept....ive belonged to more private memberships that had hot tubs, jaccuzzi's, saunas, pools, trainers that work with you individually, not in a group setting. i am not one of those people who want to work out around a bunch of strangers. i like my personal space and i prefer to work with a trainer every day i come in... not a trainer with 5 other people.... to me that isnt personal training.... more of a class.. they have strict dresscode policies and things because they are a judgment free zone? i didnt even see a scale in the gym... which i thought was odd. i get its a no judgment zone but i would like to know my weight so i can figure out my bmi adn see where i am on a scale of health. the staff isnt really trained to understand working out or health or nutrition. they are trained to scan your card and make sure your picture is the person walking through the door. very very basic. i ended my membership and have since joined a nice private clubb in bel air i am very happy with...... i gave this placve a good rating becausee there is nothihng wrong with it, its just not the type of place i want to work out....personal preference only. read more

This is a gym full of machines only. No classroom, no classes like yoga, shabam, or zumba. I went for the first time this morning as a guest with a friend to check it out. There were many treadmills, ellipticals & bikes and a variety of upper and lower body machines. There is diversity in member sizes, ages, and a mix of male/female. 3 stars because I'm on the fence. Week 1) awesome sauce - got membership for a year for under $100, and a free duffle bag. Sign up for free personal training session. Rachel, who signs us up is AWESOME. Week 2) duffle bag tears, car gets broken into, and cops tell me they are here every week for parking lot or locker room theft. Personal trainer dude sits us down, we tell him our various ails and goals. He sends is off to do our cardio and then hands us a sheet of paper with the exact same things on it despite us having different goals and ailments. We ask for help on the few machines we have never used before. He tells us his last day here will be in a week and we can ask the new trainer then. Week 3: we see same trainer, past his "final day" showing other newbies how to use machines we were not shown. Week 5: NewYears - resolutionists take over and create lines out the door Week 6: half the bikes are broken and all the treadmills and ellipticals are taken during peak hours. We resolve to go later til resolutionists give up in March. Week 7: come later, more available machines. Older guy sits next to me on a broken bike while I'm wrapping up a five mile sprint and asks me why I'm fat, and the starts espousing such awful racist hate (including n-word even though I told him he is disgusting and ill-informed) so I hop off the bike and tell him I'm done. Come back to clean off bike and he is still sitting there so now I just ignore him. Week 8:cross training groups of 4-9 people at any given time are taking up whole rows of strength equipment and not leaving room for folks to walk by. Like I said, im on the fence. Im definitely getting what I paid for but it's already cost me twice that to repair my car, and I would prefer a more racially tolerant clientele. read more

This is a super small gym, and it is always too crowded you can never get on any of the equipment you want unless you go really late at night like around 1am. The hydro massage is really nice but nobody cleans it along with the equipment, tanning beds, and locker rooms, and its very apparent. Since its so cheap because some gyms can range in the $45-$65, I always say you get what you pay for. read more

So far so good. I signed up a couple of weeks ago and I am loving it. The staff is awesome and there are plenty of exercise equipment. I haven't seen any instances of any having to stand around waiting for someone to get off the machines. They have unlimited use of the massaging chairs with the upgraded membership. . I really love the fact that they have free Unlimited Fitness Training. I am definitely going to take advantage of that. read more

Its just a basic gym. You have the treadmills weights n a 30 min workout circuit. Which is nice. They don't offer classes for different workouts. If you don't want to spend much joining a gym n just want the basics, this is your place to go. read more

Nice size gym, but during the week, after 4:30PM this place is popping and crazy packed. My suggestion is to wait till 8 or 9PM to get your workout on or early in the AM. A basic gym with good equipment. Could go a little longer in the tanning booth and it's a standing one, so be prepared to stand. Most of the staff is really nice, however the manager seems to be a little rude. Not as nice as the Planet Fitness in Reisterstown and not as many amenities. read more

This Golden Ring location has everything you need for equipment. I got to PF 4x a week. golden Ring location managers , you need to fix the patch you have in the ladies locker room. There is a huge white patch spot underneath the mirror. It looks terrible. The hydrotherapy doesn't allow enough quiet and seclusion to truly be relaxing. This place is dirty from the locker room to the dusty equipment. The equipment is missing pieces. Gross is all I can say!

The staff here were very helpful- I've been paying for 2 accounts now for about 3 years unknowingly- $10 here $19.99 there nothing I took any notice of until I was hit with an additional $50 bill stating Golden ring location- I've never been to this location until today - I reside roughly 45 minutes away from here so it's not a facility that I would choose as my primary gym - however it's very clean - stations are spread out nicely - I generally bypass all the cardio busters i.e. Elliptically - treadmills etc. Weights Weights Weights that's the key - the weight section is very nice - sectioned well and 2-3 identical weight machines in each are so perfect if you have a partner that's working along side you - the tempo and atmosphere is more relaxing and welcoming - Abingdon is a nice location- usually packed so this is refreshing and not a bad 45 min ride for the atmosphere and positive vibes the staff give off read more
