Brock, You are right on one point , the friendliest staff around, ty for that compliment. As far as prices go, we beat most stores our size and price close to or better then the local warehouse. Not sure if you have ever run a business, for example, Walmart is cheaper then a small mom and pop grocery store. So if your looking to save a dollar and don't mind a 20 minute drive may I suggest Empire Liquors in Albany. We have been in business for 8 years and going strong. See you on your next visit! I have NEVER Met a more rude Business owner in my life! Playing a Politically Biased TV station behind the register (loudly) and a customer expresses their an opinion the Owner lashed out! What do u want me to put on? How about a cooking or travel show! Family owned, Crescent's neighborhood liquor store. Owned by the same family that previously owned our local pizzeria, they are a pleasure to deal with. Their wine selection has impressivly grown since their opening a couple of years ago, while their prices have seemingly fallen. They're always willing to help anyone that walks through the door. read more

TL:DR- Had an awful and in my opinion illegal experience with experience with Exit 8 Wine and Liquor recommend strong that you take your business to exit 9, even if business integrity means nothing to you, the price is better. The first time I went to Exit 8 Wine and Liquor my S/O and I tried to purchase 2 bottles of overpriced wine. She forgot her I.D. and we were refused. No issue here, the business was lawfully protecting itself. The problem arose when I went back by myself to purchase a large quantity of alcohol for a get together we were having, the weekend after I originally went to the store. I asked, who I would later find out was the owner's wife, what went into a Sangria drink. She wasn't very helpful and seemed irritated I asked a question. Whatever, not everyone drinks/drinks the same thing. So I went about my business and picked out a few bottles of wine and a bottle of Hornitos tequila. I brought them to the register and when they were scanned the Hornitos bottle came up as $29.99. I politely said "That was not the price it was marked as." She became very condescending in front of myself, her husband and the other costumers in the store. She said " Well, you are wrong." I respond "I was just over there, we can go check the price." She said "Fine, just wait here." She goes to back wall within view of me and rips off the tag. She then places it on the counter out of eyesight and then starts whispering with her husband. After what seemed like a long pause I interrupted them and said "Excuse me, was I right about the price?" Knowing full well I was right about the price through this whole altercation. The husband now steps up to the register and snaps at me, "We can't sell it for this price. You'll have to pay 29.99" (instead of the 24.99 that it was marked) I repeat " It was marked at 24.99." He starts ranting and turning red in the face " We are not price chopper, we can't do that. This is the price I pay for it, I'd be losing money. Yatattata yatatat. If you don't want to pay this price ($29.99 again instead of the marked price 24.99) don't buy it." I was upset at this time. I felt I had been discriminated against. Maybe it was the color of my skin, age, sexual orientation or what have you. But as soon as I came to the counter the price changed. I remained calm told him what he was doing was illegal and that I wouldn't be making a purchase. Now screaming he yells, "Well, have a nice day!" I didn't feel it was necessary to point out that trying charging me an additional 5 dollars would result in my loss of business forever. I also asked my friends to swear blood-oaths they would never shop there again. AND that if he sold it to me at cost because of his own error, he still would have made money on my other purchases. Now I am writing this yelp review hoping that when other people are looking to make a purchase they avoid this business. It is my hope that they go out of business and a much more respectable business can take its place. And the next time I step foot in that store is when they have their going out of business sale. Afterwards I left I drove the 8 minutes to Exit 9 wine and Liquor, which is the largest liquor store in NYS and because of the economies of scale they were selling the same bottle of $22.99 a $7 dollar savings on just one bottle! I didn't even end up purchasing the bottle of Hornitos Tequila as Exit 9 Wine and Liquor had a wider selection and I found something I would enjoy more. I also joined their rewards program that day and look forward to even more savings. The exit 9 liquor store is also near several stores that sell and assortment of snacks and mixers. I would highly recommend this as alternative. Kind of indifferent. It's close and convenient, but there's certainly cheaper prices in the area. Been a customer here for the past few years and was disappointed when I recently heard they did away with their loyalty program for wine. Staff is friendly enough, but the selection and prices are mediocre. Plan to explore other nearby options in the future. read more
