Went on a Friday night and the bouncer let us up for free, we were then chased down by the door people telling us we needed to pay the $5 cover. Kind of an awkward situation and put a sour taste in my mouth from the start but eventually they apologized and we didn't have to pay. Besides the annoying encounter at the beginning the drinks were priced okay, I payed $15 for a vodka/Sprite, a bud light and a corona. The music was perfect if you like hip hop and top 40. The DJ knew his audience and kept us dancing all night. Glad to have finally found a place in Greektown I like because delux and level 2 are not my scene. read more

Upon waiting for our group to gather close to the exit so we could leave I had no choice but to stand in what was *APPARENTLY* a very bad and problematic spot between the host station and the coat check, as there is only about a square foot around the top of steep stairs to wait at otherwise near the exit. Who I am assuming was a manager shot me a nasty look and asked me to move in a very bitchy tone at which time I apologized and moved. She then proceeded to ask me why I "found the need to act like an ass". Bouncers also tried to turn away a friend on his birthday for his shoes. Bye. Cool rooftop venues like these require a bit of planning before you go. For example, I tend to go to the events where underground House and Techno music are, therefore Thursday nights here are where it's at for me. This place is currently under renovation, but it is still a major summer venue for dance music nonetheless. If you go say, on a Friday or Saturday, I believe it is much more hip hop based. So definitely choose your nights accordingly and look the events up on Facebook to see who is playing. The venue itself, like I said, is under renovation, but it was an excellent venue for dance music and has a great rooftop atmosphere for the summer. I expect after the renovations, it will capture the same amount of rooftop magic that it had before. The design of the old Exodus was a bit rustic, but that's why we all loved it. Has two bars, one inside and one outside near the dance floor. The drink prices are a bit above average for most places I attend, ($6 for a Heineken of Corona) but that's not absolutely terrible. read more

Friday Nights are the night to go! Loved the venue and the DJ! The crowd was mixed and the bar had great service.

I don't think I'll ever come back here again. Let me list the reasons why. We got bottle service to celebrate a friend's birthday. The table was tiny and they put us right next to the entrance and the bar, so as the night went on and people got more intoxicated, (dancing as they waited to order more drinks) our table was bumped and our drinks were spilled multiple times. We had to ask for refills on water and mixers throughout the night rather than the waitress being attentive. They wouldn't allow us to pull up chairs to the table and the cushioned booth at one side was so shallow it was uncomfortable to sit. But you're at a dance club...so you're not sitting a ton, right? Let's chat about the 'dancing' situation. The dance floor has the entrance/exit and bar at its corner and therefore you can really only dance for about ten seconds without someone pushing past you to get to one of these things. The music was so-so. Songs only lasted about 20 seconds before they moved onto the next, so you couldn't even get into a good groove. My biggest complaint is the bathroom. The women's bathroom is TINY and only has two stalls, so each time you needed to use it, you waited 15-20 minutes. Imagine how much longer it takes to get through that line when someone is getting sick in one stall (which happened, naturally). Overall, a horrible experience. read more

Omg, the worst bar I have ever had the displeasure of attending.My boyfriend and I were hanging out on the weekend. We decided to stop in one night just , to check it out. Upon entering you have to walk up a long flight of stairs. We were not greeted when we got to the lounge area so we just sort of seated ourselves. There was no friendly hello's . The bartender was not friendly , very rude. We had to call for attention, if we hadn't we would probably been ignored the whole night. It appeared he did not want us there. it was not crowded and I could see why. Everyone that worked there were rude and treated you like you were invisible. Every city has a place like this. It was probably awesome for five minutes some years ago. Maybe it even tried to be a cool club in the midst of the really stupid club part of town. But some sort of mental illness in the ownership/management just tweaked at some point, and it was all downhill from there. Watching the door scene go down is like watching a parody of a clown show, but the clowns are bouncers. The clearly coked-out-of-their-minds door staff is openly taking bribes, randomly yelling at people, being physically intimidating for no reason, planting shit on people they don't want to let in, and generally acting like caricatures of the dumb/bad guys in some really idiotic 80s movie. But even I was surprised when they would randomly pause their gestapo searches ... to yell at at some all-male group for being all-male ... and then letting them in - unsearched and ahead of everyone else. I guess just like game recognize game, douche recognize douche. Oh yeah. Prepare to be searched, patted down, and have your crotch grabbed...to go into a bar. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I've never experienced such disrespect by a staff at any establishment. Not only did we have a party of 30 which we purchased a table and 5 bottles for BEFORE arriving, but after most arrived, a family member was denied access because his shoes weren't compliant with their "dress code." When approached, the manager used vulgar language and spoke to us like animals. We were photographed against our will by the waitstaff and assaulted by the "VIP bouncer" because we expressed our concerns to speak with someone about the service. They proceeded to call the police because we wanted to dispute our bill with them since they wouldn't let a number of people in our party actually in. It was like a movie scene. I will never go back. Wish I could give this place negative stars. They are prejudice and rude! We got turned away for the type of shoes we were wearing!!! I was wearing flip flops because we were walking around Detroit going to different places and didn't want to become uncomfortable from wearing high heels or something of the like. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I stopped into golden fleece with a few friends for a late night meal. I had discovered the exodus rooftop a few months ago, I've visited a few times and really enjoyed it. I told my friends about it and we decided to head upstairs after dinner. We were greeted at the door by a VERY aggressive bouncer. He started screaming in our faces to get out, actually grabbed my arm and pushed me down the stairs. I AM COVERED IN BRUISES. Why? Was the club at capacity? Far from it. Were we in violation of dress code? Hardly. Apparently we used the wrong entrance. I want to go back there for the sole purpose of punching this guy in the balls. No man should ever put his hands on a female like this, no matter what the circumstances are. I am filing a complaint with the BBB, and actually considering filing a lawsuit against the club. This place is a joke and I hope they go out of business. If you decide to go there, please kick the bouncer in the balls on your way out, and be sure to use the parking lot entrance or you might get thrown down the stairs. read more

Not much Yelp love for Exodus, I see!! And with fair reason. There are definitely some big cons to those place...but don't discredit the pros! Con - $10 cover. I hate cover. Who do these clubs think they are. Pro - You can email your name in advance and get added to the list to get let in for free! Con - that only applies to ladies, and only on Friday nights, and you have to get there by 11 for the free list thing to apply. (and come to think of it, I heard someone mentioning that her guy friend, who came later in the evening, was charged $20 to get in! So if that is true, it REALLY sucks for guys) Con: As previously mentioned in the other reviews, it is very hard to find. You will never just stumble across this place unless you are looking for it intentionally. And even if you are looking for it intentionally, it will probably still take you a minute to figure it out. Con: Once you do figure out how to get to it, you realize that unfortunately it involves walking down a smelly, dumpster lined alley behind the Greektown strip. Yikes. Just walk fast and hold your nose. Pro: Outdoor rooftop patio, perfect for enjoying summer nights. There is a small indoor bar area as well and some of the outside area has a covering over it so I imagine if rain hit there would at least be SOME room to duck for cover. Pro: beautiful decor....you have the hustle and bustle of Greektown below, beautiful night sky above, and the rooftop is done up in all white. Con: Pricey drinks. Pro: AWESOME MUSIC! The DJ spun a seamless mix of both old and new school hip hop. Perfect for dancing or just vibing on the side. Con: The steep stairs leading up to the club (and worse coming back down to leave) and the wooden deck are NOT stiletto friendly, so wear them at your own risk. BIGGEST PRO: A WONDERFULLY mixed, totally cool crowd. The place was full to the brim with people of various ages, races, and styles enjoying their night. Everyone I encountered was friendly, and everyone was looking good. Loved it. I only wished that I had been able to stay longer. Exodus definitely has things to work on to make them more accessible (both in affordability as well as just making it easier to get to the damn place) but once I was in, I liked it a lot more than any bar I've been to in a while. My friend and I have been here maybe 7 times over the last couple years. It's a hit or miss with this place. Overall, we make the best out of it regardless. Most fun we have is when there's the hip hop Top 40 DJ. He spins great music definitely. The people there are all races and dress nice. My gripes include the annoying VIP area. What's the point of having such a massive closed off section in a small outside patio? Also, they charge too much. $20 entry is what I expect from clubs in Chicago or Vegas, not in Greektown. The bouncer did not even let my two friends in, maybe because my friend had a little too much and it was 1 a.m. okay, that's cool. We abandoned hope of entering this place & went to The Well- you should do the same. Reviews are very accurate with our experience here- go to another bar in Greektown or even Corktown or Midtown. Heck, even rip shots in your backyard before you come here. They have these stupid entry rules that they are huge pricks about- once being that apparently men are not allowed to wear boots. Well, we were celebrating my brothers birthday & he was wearing military-issue boots & was refused entry...By a bouncer in Steve Madden BOOTS, nonetheless! They let girls in in $5 transparent leggings & shirts that look like they poured Elmer glue on themselves & rolled in sequins... but apparently if boys wear boots they should be burned at the stake! I think most people don't know club etiquette on here. That being said, the atmosphere here is pretty awesome. There are always going to be a few drunks at any club and that's where the bouncers here are pretty on top of things. The door can get a bit pricey but if you come when you're supposed to theres usually no issue just like with any other club. I also don't understand why females think they should never pay lol. Before I explain why I am giving such a horrible review, I'd like to say that I am in the entertainment industry in Detroit and the REASON WHY PEOPLE ARE SCARED TO COME TO DETROIT IS BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT MANAGEMENT THAT IS AT THIS CLUB!!!!! This past weekend was Movement weekend, aka a huge weekend for Detroit because people come internationally to Detroit for this festival...so you would think that they would act appropriate considering Detroit is making a comeback and want to have returning customers, domestic and internationally. When my friend and I arrive, we immediately notice that theres a giant line. We were put on the guest list and we were waiting for about 20 minutes. During this time, I watched people get SCREAMED at for literally no reason. Then, I notice a man come outside, who appeared to be a manager or something along the lines of that. I was patiently waiting outside, not yelling or under the influence of anything because I just got done working another event in Detroit. So I ask, "Are you the manager?" And this man whips around and gets so close to me and says, "Well that's a stupid F*ing question, get the F out of here!" and I said, "Excuse me?" and then says, "What, I'MMM the manager?! What is this a restaurant, do you want your check too?" Clearly this man was the owner or something along those lines and did NOT like being called the manager....like as if being a manager is beneath him. I have never been so disrespected in my whole entire life. The fact that he had the NERVE to speak to two young PR women in the Detroit scene says A LOT about the type of business thats run there. I will make sure to never go there and to tell every single person I know in the tri-county area who fits the demographic to go to a club like this to never go there. read more

Setting up the table with bottle service reservation was a very pleasant experience with Melissa. However, when making the reservation they were very strict about how many people we could have per bottle saying we got wristbands- not the case because anyone could have joined us at any point. There was no exclusivity at all. The table we had was right by the entrance and people were bumping into the actual table knocking drinks over the entire night. The server was very nice but after she brought the bottle we never saw her again. For 20% gratuity (when industry standard is 18%) I was shocked nobody ever came back by. I am very familiar with table with bottle service and most places don't let you touch the bottle, they serve the drinks....if we would have waited we would have never got another drink. We ran out of mixers on top of our drinks being spilled the entire night. The table next to us never got sold and they just let anyone sit there. If that were the case why did we spend so much money to have a VIP experience if anyone could sit there and drink?!?! With the price of the bottle I would have expected the server to be more attentive, a some what private table, possibly roped off, and a bouncer to at least take notice of what was happening. Definitely not enough staff, especially with all of the fights. Overall: Not worth the money for table with bottle service, bathroom is terribly small, and no where to dance. T No real place to dance since the dance floor is right in the center of all of the traffic areas and the DJ didn't play songs long enough to get into the groove of anything. Good place for light drinks before or after dinner. Not a place to have fun and dance. read more

Pros: * Great summer attraction that has a large outdoor patio that boasts great views of Detroit's skyline, albeit, curtailed a few years ago by an obnoxious second Greektown parking structure - speaking of which, does anyone even park there!? * Most of the bartenders are very friendly and actively participate into the frenzied and upbeat atmosphere that many millennials crave. Fridays are generally Hip-Hop and R&B, Saturdays Top 40 & Dance. * It's definitely a place to see and be seen as a lot of Detroit's sexiest men and women, professional athletes and successful business owners attend on a regular basis. Cons: * While Greek owned and operated, the establishment in recent years has not catered to the Greek-American community. While once a primary destination for Detroit Greeks, the numbers now only amount to the single digits on the weekends. Don't expect any Greek music to be played here. * As with any Greek owned business, nepotism has a way of creeping into hiring decisions of bartenders, bouncers and floor managers. Combined with outside hires, this has led to an environment of conflicting policies, viewpoints and visions which are the source of many negative comments described below and in blogs. I myself have seen or experienced the denial of entry, shouting, shoving and other rude behavior by some of the employees, a lot of which was unwarranted. * Be prepared to order the same drink and be charged a different price than the last time you ordered it. If you're average Detroiter who is looking for an eventful summer evening, than this is the place for you, if you can deal with being herded like cattle. We went in here on a random Thursday night and had a decent time. There were $4 well cocktails that ended at 9pm, so we had a good hour of cheap drinks. If I could I would give this 0 stars. We paid for a VIP booth which meant bottle service and not waiting in line in the middle of winter. We had to wait in line...they let the girls in because they could apparently let only 10 in at a time. There was 16 of us. The door guy yelled at us and got angry and frustrated because we had to check in which we did. We all paid $5 for coat check and then had to wait for them to let all the guys in and about 45 minutes for our bottles to arrive which only did after we companied. The owner was great when we complained and everything got done. But then when we went to leave, I gave her our 3 coat check tickets. She brought 1 jacket and it wasn't ours so I told her and she said "oh ok" and put it aside. She then gave us our other 2 coats and then said she did her job. Again, after complaining the owner and door guy (who was a complete ass earlier) let her go through all the remaining coats and hers was not there. The owner said if they can't find it by tomorrow they will get her a new coat. I don't trust anything about this bar and don't think they will replace her new north face coat or even come close to replacing it for its worth. Other than the owner (or manager) there was not 1 person in this bar that would actually worry about giving you good service. The lady working coat check didn't care about the lost jacket and kept saying it wasn't her fault and the bouncer had a short fuse and seemed to be an angry person and also didn't care.
