Stay away from this moving company Cal Exodus, don't want to see anyone else being taken advantage of. They are cheats and miss leading in their prices. They quoted 5300.00 to start and I sent pictures and had regular phone calls and emails with them but when they showed up to our place, they tripled the cost to $13,200.00 and our hands were tied because we had to move out and relocate out of state. They damaged our goods and there were items missing, I am getting the run around for a claim being filed. I did file and reported them to the BBB and have been keeping all emails from the company, I finally received email from the Cali Exodus, and I was told to remove my negative review from the website or they won't do anything with the claim, so I am being threatened by them which does not go over very well. I was told they won't process my claim and had to wait 12 days before getting an answer on what they are going to do to resolve the problem. They came in at 1 price and tripled it on us on the day of pickup and left me know choice and took 20 days to deliver across country from west coast to east coast. They are very miss leading and promise the world if anyone has read the horror stories of cheating moving companies this is one of them. Buyer beware also wanted all the money before final delivery was made, they wanted 1/3 up front then 1/2 on pickup then the final before making delivery stay away from this company. I will be filing against this company and reposting reviews and make sure the public is aware of what kind of business practices they are doing and will update the BBB as well and get an attorney and go after them. I would have given this company 0 stars if that was possible! This has been the most horrible experience. This was a large move for my family since we were relocating from California to Idaho. My husband and I had used pods in the past, but since we were getting a relocation allowance, we decided to opt for a moving company to "make it easier for us." However, we were still on a budget, and we told the company so. When the company came in higher with their amount, we decided we would go back to the pods we were used to. We could control what we loaded and when, but we would have to plan and definitely do some heavy lifting. After multple calls from CaliExodus contuning to bid for our business, Al stated they would drop the price to be something we would consider. It was still much more than Pods, but the incentive was it was going to be much smoother and much easier for us since CaliExodus would be taking care of so much of it. All we needed to do was to get things boxed up and the CaliExodus team would come and dismantle any furniture, relocate it, and reassemble it in our new location.... or so we thought. Fast forward to the move date: the driver showed up with a truck big enough to transport half our things. The driver was frustrated, stating this was common. After multiple phone calls to the company, it was determined that we were quoted for only half of our things. We were told we would have to pay almost double to get another truck out to transport the entirety. This was problem #1. Problem #2 occurred simultaneously when the driver arrived to the house and explained they could not transport any item not boxed or in garbage bags. We had purposefully left the large furniture unboxed because the agreed contract was for CaliExodus to breakdown all furniture and reassemble upon delivery. We had to scramble to box and pay for expensive boxes lastminute. Problem #3 came after pick up: the previous conversation with Al, explained that delivery would be "about 2 days." After pickup, we were actually pointed to the fine print in the contract that stated it could be anywhere from 2-14 days... so.... begin Problem #4: CaliExodus had our stuff (half of it mind you) and failed to communicate with us an estimated arrival date. For multiple days in a row they were not responsive to phone calls, emails, or texts requesting any information. As a result, my family and I had to spend over 1 week in our new property with no furniture and none of our things. When we tried to escalate our concerns to management, my husband finally heard from Jim. Jim was unapologetic, condescending, and continued to state "you signed a contract." I was appalled by this owners inability to, at minimum, acknowledge the discomfort that had occurred with the tremendous amount of miscommunications. Alright, so at this point, you are probably tired of this review....but it only gets worse... Fast forward 7 days after pick up: we are notified directly by the driver that he will be leaving California and should make it to us in 2 days (nice guy and finally some good communication). We anxiously awaited the arrival of our stuff...Then....Problem #lost count: Day 9 comes and the driver calls my husband asking for another adress verification. The company had given the driver the wrong address and he was in another city over 500 miles away! The driver was very apologetic and communicated effectively from then on. We finally received our stuff on day 11. So now for the final problem: The actual delivery. We specifically chose to go with this company because they stated our things would be broken down at the original site and delivered put back together at the delivery site. This was not the case, our furniture was left in packages and boxes because upon arrival the driver stayed he was not provided any tools by the company. All of our furniture was left to us to assemble. My husband and his friend had to help move our safe because the driver came unprepapred without the proper equipment to transport the safe- even though we had paid extra for moving the safe. Now that we are are assembling our furniture, we have found the ultimate problem: many of our things are damaged. Unbelievable! Our 70in TV is broken, my antique window frame pictures that were specifically identified as fragile have been damaged. I am still yet to get completely unpacked,  but I anticipate even more damage. So much loss.  I have tried to contact the company and so far... no response...I am so beyond angry... I will be pursuing further actions. No one should have to deal with this amount of stress during an already stressful time in their life. read more

A horrible and terrifying experience. I should've probably canceled this move all together when they were more than two hours late to show up for our move. Which was stressful enough given we only had a a four hour window with our building complex that we lived in. We just bought our very first brand new home and these guys managed to scratch our floors and ding our walls and cause drywall damage to our very first, even when doing something as simple as centering a couch they chipped the paint off our base boards (better yet they acted like nothing happened). On top of that they damaged and ruined our brand new king mattress by getting it caught on the railing as they were going up the stairs and tearing a big hole in the bottom of our mattress. The guys used foul language and would conveniently start yelling at each other in Spanish. To add insult to injury the only thing offered was a check that barely covered the cost paint some of the damages they caused. read more

Unethical and Deceptive Business Practices: Steve stated delivery is normally 5-7 days but they can do it in 3-5 days. Then they said actually it's up to 14 days. It ended up being 29 days. Agreement modification: Contract stated that the remaining balance was due upon delivery. They changed these payment terms later to balance due upon load notification (ship date). This move was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I give it one star because two of their employees (Katie & Jill) were responsive. You're only as good as the entire team which set them up for failure. 1. They verbally told me that we would have our furniture in 10-14 days. It was 25 days in total. When I questioned the time they "robotically" regurgitated my contract info. 2. They estimated my moving cost to be around $4200. I provided them with specificity the items I had and clothing to be moved. They never came to my apartment to estimate in person. When they showed up the day of the move they charged me $2000 additional (31% more). Not many options to say no on moving day. I felt taken advantage of as I was upfront with them about the move of a 800 SF apartment. 3. Many phone calls went unreturned and communication was terrible. The answer they gave me was due to personal reasons. While I may empathize with the situation, business is business and I really needed to answers. I had to call the corporate office in Cleveland twice and was rushed off the phone both times by the same gentleman. 4. I was originally told the last installment would be paid after the furniture arrived but later was forced to pay the driver in advance. While this may have been conveniently tucked away deep in the contract, it is an unprofessional business practice to make me pay the entirely before delivery. 5. I was finally told that my items were in transport and was told they would be in contact with me. After several days of hearing nothing, I sent them 3 e-mails on 3 separate days with no response. They showed up Saturday morning unannounced with no warning at all. I wasn't home to receive my items and was coordinating with a friend. They were advised that 3 different occasions but it didn't matter. I e-mailed their truck driver several times as that was the only contact information for him I had. Not the courtesy of one single response. 6. Boxes were crushed when they arrived, dishes were broken as well as a broken floor lamp. The floor was never protected and we found scratches on the floor at the entry. 7. The driver had all the items moved to a U-haul using third party personnel. The driver then took off with my contract which I was supposed to sign and claim damage goods. He was long gone by the time the freight was unloaded. He left behind 2 movers that didn't even know what company they were working for. One of the movers was laying down on the bedroom floor profusely sweating and complaining about the heat. 8. The movers didn't unpack and put together and of the items they had disassembled before the move. They left my friend to unwrap the items and to throw away all the paper. The bed legs were lost during the move and they could even assemble that. I found the legs 3 days later in an unmarked box. Stay away from these guys. Put your stuff in a u-haul and do it yourself. read more

I sold my house before Covid-19. I bought a new house in the same time frame. Unfortunately, both of my closings we're in the middle of April. I had Exodus moving recommended by my real estate agent and had them set up to come in and move everything the day after the closings. They were to arrive by 8:00 am got to my house at 7:15 I thought early great. My first strike. My allergies we're extremely bad the night before and I had missed the trash can, I normal puck up every morning but they were early. Actually got me out of bed no time to shower to wake up and have steam. Their movers came in walked around took pictures without my knowledge of m Kleenex. I had everything packed except my closet which they also took another unauthorized picture of my closet. I spoke to the movers about the few things my closet and a few other things I had out telling them not to touch it I would take care of it. They came downstairs said they were going outside to get "the truck ready" after I waited for at least 45minutes one mover returned he told me they would not move me because they thought I was sick. I understand not being around people that you think maybe ill. I do not understand if you are that afraid of becoming ill especially now. However, they entered my home without any PPE on. They were told I had allergies before hand. They were unprepared. For the move. They ultimately walked off the job. If you have ever bought and sold at the same time it's extremely stressful they didn't need to add to it. I called the company while they were "preparing the truck" which was a big falsehood. The person I spoke to told me about the pictures and that they were in the truck on the phone with their supervisor arguing. After they walked off my job came the biggest surprise of all a bill for their time, the truck and other obscure charges for the price of almost 500.00. My entire move was going to cost 1600.00. I spoke to both owners at different time, unreasonable people, but the "gentleman" I spoke to about the bill said he would have all the charges removed. As we were ending out call he said " you cheated us out of a lot of money" and slammed down the phone. I called back told him I did not appreciate that and if he thinks I "cheated" him out of money I would be happy to discuss this further between our lawyers. I would also have my attorney discussing taking pictures in a home without the homeowner knowledge. He apologized and hung up. FYI I called other moving companies after we hung up had another company out the next day and paid 600.00 less. The other company was pleasant and actually brought boxes and saw how stressed I was they told me forget about the closet and they packed it up, at no additional cost. She was apologetic both for the experience of the move as well as the time it took to call us back. She left it to me to rectify the situation and asked that I name what I wanted to pay in order to make the situation right. In my world, things can get screwed up. Running a business is hard. However, if you're willing to call the customer back (though it shouldn't take a week) and make the situation right I can get right back on board with you. Kerri even said that the email/comments I wrote were being looked at by the ops team internally and will be used to ensure they book their teams more carefully. First they showed up late with no mask or gloves. Then when I asked them to pack the breakables, and help pack up other dishes, I told them they didn't need to pack the food in the pantry as I would come back to get that. I also told them not to pack items on certain pieces of furniture that weren't being moved. But they packed both the food and several items I either didn't tell them to pack, or specifically told them not to pack, adding to the cost. They also spilled sand all over my basement carpet, moving a box of sand that I didn't tell them to move. They also arrived short handed and after 5 hours I called for reinforcements when the lead said that they would be lucky to finish by midnight. Then after they left, I discovered that several items I asked them to move were moved to my place, but left downstairs in the garage. The final straw was when I went to move my futon in preparation for bringing my cats over, the futon fell apart because it wasn't put together correctly. read more

Total mess from day one! Packers got more smoke breaks then packing done. Movers showed up and had to pack and move us. Items were broken because they were not packed but hurriedly shoved into truck. As truck was leaving we noticed half the kitchen wasnt packed. Those items are now missing and the company is taking zero responsibility to pay for them Our neon signs were supposed to be crated but came off the truck with no packaging at all and in many peices. We purchased insurance with $1000 deductible but that was of no help as they dont give a crap about the missing items and wont cover them. As for signs the deductible shouldn't apply as it was blatant negligence on thier part. Stuff that was properly packed and then broke, yes I get it insurance and deductibles should kick in. Basically they are saying to thier employees go ahead and be careless, steal and misplace items because we aren't going to take responsibility. The trucks also tore up the landscaping. I sent photos of the damage to them and they have chosen not to address this issue either. Not only did our agent recommend them but a friend in the local chamber of commerce did. I was so impressed w/ these guys that I wrote a testimonial letter and sent it to them. Here are excerpts: Exodus Moving and Storage did a phenomenal job of moving the contents of our five bedroom house from Colorado to California. Our story highlights how flexible, responsive, and professional this company is. I began the mover selection process by researching reviews online and asking contacts about their own moving experiences. Several people in Fort Collins recommended Exodus. Jake came out to give me a quote, and I noticed that unlike the two national lines that had given me estimates, Jake took the time to walk me through the entire process, including terms I was not familiar with and what exactly the insurance covered. I was most interested in them because I wanted our possessions to be in the control of one set of employees from one company throughout the cross-country move and three week storage period, and only Exodus was able to guarantee that. I also appreciated that Exodus both drug tests and pays their employees well and thus has a low turnover, ensuring that the movers would be more experienced that other companies. My husband's new employer provided a significant financial incentive to use a national moving line, as they had a contract with them, and so although my instinct was to go with Exodus, I chose the national line instead. On the first day of packing, the national line did not show up at 8am as arranged. When I called to follow up two hours later, I couldn't get a live person, just voice mail. When the two guys arrived two and a half hours late, they were driving their own van, wearing their own clothes (no company logos to be found anywhere), mumbling about how they were given the wrong address and no phone number. I had no confidence that they were actually professional movers, so I fired the national line on the spot and called Exodus, gambling that they would be able to help me out with less than a half a day's notice. Ilan and Jake immediately swung into action, and by that afternoon, I had a team of six people at my home to pack. They were all very professional, particularly Julia who I believe led the team. They worked quickly but carefully, and all were polite and responsive to my requests. Packing went smoothly, and the move three days later, led by John, went equally well. I have several antique pieces of furniture which are very sentimentally valuable to me as well, and the team took great care with them. I also want to note that although Exodus could have tacked on a surcharge for the last minute call, they did not, and their price was fair and in line with companies that provide nowhere near this level of service. When I met the moving van in California three weeks later, Frank and Phil did a great job moving our things into our new home. Despite the 100 degree heat, they worked quickly and were friendly and professional throughout the long day. They hired two additional professional movers to assist them, and did an excellent job managing them, as well. The team even put our bed frames together before leaving. Throughout this process, the home office in Fort Collins checked in to make sure that I was satisfied with all aspects of the move. Now four months later, we have finally unpacked everything, and I am amazed to say that not a single item was damaged or broken, or missing. Not one. I expected some damage or wear with a move of that magnitude, but everything was in the exact condition it was in previously. I am so impressed with this company, and with these employees. Moving is such a stressful ordeal, and knowing that Exodus was handling everything gave me tremendous peace of mind. The movers I used in the past were a little iffy, their voice mail was full, they didn't deliver boxes as I had asked, their website would disappear... anyway, I digress. My mortgage loan person suggested Exodus Moving & Storage. I called them, they were able to schedule my move on super short notice. The 4 guys showed up, rocked it out and even helped pack a few things that I didn't get to. I was downsizing from a 5 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom townhome. Tough. I'll be honest. I was really nervous hiring a moving company for the first time. I have heard so many horror stories. I meet a gentlemen at a convention that worked for Exodus....so I felt a little more sure footed. I called about a month before our move and the rep on the other end was very helpful. They gave me all the info and pricing I needed, and they didn't make me feel hurried or rushed. When you call into some businesses, they make you feel as if your inquiry into what they can offer you is an inconvenience. Exodus was gracious with their time and were very thorough. They were more expensive, by just a bit, then some of the competition. Again, I felt more comfortable. The movers came in and were stress-free. They didn't feel invasive or reckless. I was thrilled with them. They even knew how to take apart my couch. WHAT?? I didn't know it came apart. They were very detailed and communicated well with each other and myself. We had never hired a moving company, but we were moving to CA for my husbands job. I had friends that had not so good experiences, so I was apprehensive. But I got a good recommendation for Exodus from a professional organization I belonged to. I worked with Greg Woods, and he was very responsive. He always returned my calls/emails in a timely manner, and he helped by setting expectations. The guys who came to move us were all very nice. They did pack some trash, but overall, they were extremely friendly and seemed very cautious when handling our personal items. They stored our items for us until we could move into our new home. Communication was great and they did everything they said they would do. The price was in line, exactly, with the quote they provided. There were a few things that got damaged but nothing major. The owner of the company drove all of our items out to CA and oversaw the unpacking. Great experience overall. read more

I STRONGLY urge you find a different moving company other than Exodus unless you actually like being cancelled on last minute due to over-booking and then being stood up on the day you were rebooked for. It's not like we don't have to be out of our apartment today or anything. Brian was the guy we dealt with and after calling and calling and finally getting ahold of someone that had him call us back and he claimed he didn't recall the conversation rebooking us for today and that he told us he had said he would give my boyfriend a call on Monday. Wait, umm, didn't you just say you didn't recall the conversation, Brian? Hmm if we had to be out of our apt don't you think we would have called another moving company? We didn't because you said, "I'll see you at 8AM on Saturday morning!" He then said, "well, I'll review my notes when I get back to the office on Monday and call you." Are you a complete moron? What good will that do me? How will that help in any way?? Because of this lying asshole we had to pay someone twice as much to move us last minute on the Fourth of July. Yay Exodus! I will tell everyone I know- and there are LOADS of people moving here in Aurora right now- to avoid using this company. Nothing was damaged and the people -- from the CFO to the movers -- were unbelievably nice and extremely careful with my items, including a high-value piano that I own. We engaged Exodus to move half our household from Los Angeles to Denver Co in November.. They were amazing. we had the same two young men from pack up in LA to unload at 2 locations in Denver area. we had usual furniture and 1500 lbs of decorative rocks. they used the same care with every item, there were condo move in requirements and steep stairs at the second location. Nothing was broken or missing and they were extremely pleasant and accommodating. Everytime we called with questions, each person who answered the phone seemed to know about our move. All was on time, estimate on target. all of this was in stark contrast to the famous national company that moved half of our things earlier in June. For that move, one whole box of sentimental items disappeared. Be sure that no item leaves your home without a tracking number. THe moving company will be vigilant about checking off those items at the destination--that is their evidence that all was delivered. Put contact information for new home inside the box so if it disappears, you might have a chance a kind person will return it..You will also like reading the Exodus company policies for being a good employer. we do not know the difference between Littleton and Fort Collins. The move was complicated, done on a 95-degree day, and had many stairs, and the movers successfully moved everything without damage. The estimate was off (low) by about $400, and I'm not sure if that was because the estimator didn't fully account for the trouble the stairs would cause, but I don't think the move could have gone any faster. The initial bid process was great. We felt comfortable with the Fort Collins manager, Jake, who came to our home and gave us a quote. He made us feel like we were making a great choice and was cheaper than the other companies we had contacted. He told us our things would be the only items in our truck. On the packing day - the truck showed up with additional items from another families move - the movers broke several items including a glass door and had no way of cleaning up the glass. Thankfully, they had forgotten to pack the vacuum (which I discovered after they left) so I was able to vacuum it up - the night that they were supposed to drop off our items they were supposed to call and confirm. They never did and did not answer the phone. When we contacted the emergency contact (Jake in fort collins) he also did not answer so we had no idea if our items had actually made it - we were promised that only trained moving crews would unload our items. It was quite obvious when our items were being unpacked that the individuals assisting the driver were hired day laborers from town - they placed all of the items in one room despite the boxes being labeled and doors being labeled for unpacking - the driver tried to leave and "get his truck fixed" and left a disassembled elliptical in the lawn. It was obvious he was not planning to come back (his day laborers had already been paid and left) but thankfully we picked up on it and he did come back - multiple items were broken in the move: butcher block, elliptical, an antique china cabinet, lawn mower and many others. -Also, multiple scuffs were made in paint througout the entire house. I could go on for hours about how terrible this experience was. They hire smooth talkers to give estimates and make people feel comfortable but they quality of their work and customer service is as sub par as you can possibly get. I had Exodus wrap my furniture and belongings up for 1 year and move them onto their site for storage. They did well wrapping up my furniture and storing it. The problems came when they delivered the furniture and after. During delivery they broke a custom chair. I saw when this happened and the movers were just not being careful. They sent a third party to repair the chair and a TV cabinet that they installed incorrectly. He did a terrible job. The repairs are noticeable and sloppy. Also when Exodus first moved me, the guy running the move said that Exodus would buy back the furniture pads that they wrapped my furniture in, after the storage. They charged me $12.00 a pad- several hundreds of dollars. When it came time to return the pads, the owner said "they couldn't afford to buy them back". Now I am stuck with a huge stack full of pads that I can only sell for a fraction of what I bought them for. read more

If you want someone you can trust and will do a good, clean and thorough job, you want Exodus. If you want cheap and dirty, go somewhere else. This company is first rate. We moved around the beginning of September 2011 and they came to the house to do the estimate (to be on site to see what there actually was). They packed us up. They loaded the truck (great job nothing broken) and unloaded the next day. They where mindful of not causing any bumps, scrapes or scratches. They did misplace a box in the house (a box of hardware to put the beds back together) but did return to the house and no extra charge to put everything back together once the box was found. They picked up boxes and packaging material at no extra charge. At the end of it all, the total bill was LESS than the estimate. How many companies do that? If you are nervous (as I was) and you just want a good, reliable company, look no further than Exodus. read more
