Martin from Hintz's originally came over to give me a quote for the damaged siding of my house. However, he didn't stop there . He started pointing out all the little stuff he would help me fixed up along with the siding project without me asking for them or pointing out those problems. He was observant, patient and thorough. I'm glad I picked them . Martin and his crew were wonderful. I was so happy with their work with the siding . I started to give them more jobs around the house . 1 week siding project turned into few months of work around the house. Sound proofing wall, flooring , closing a window, reframing window and door, replacing window trims , kitchen cabinet/ counter top extension , electrical sub panel , recess lights, relocating receptacles, installing recess dryer vent box , relocate crawl space entrance , removing water heater, installing pipes for tankless water heater , demo and rebuild a deck, welding railing, concrete paving etc . There is absolutely nothings that this company doesn't do. We did all of those while we were living in the house . Andrew emailed me even before I reached out to him, he said he had insurance and Cole Hardware is a reputable outlet, so I hired Andrew for some very basic work around my home-- patching some nicks in walls and re-painting the spots, tightening some handles, etc. Nothing major. Hardly hard work for someone who has a vocation if contraction. Andrew asked that I pay on the spot. So I did, against my better judgement (I usually prefer to wait a day so I can see the paint when it dries, so to speak). No more than 5 days later a latch on a closet he worked on broke. I've had that closet for almost 5 years with no major problems the very same piece he works on breaks a few days after. Uh huh. When I asked him about this he said something to the effect of "these things break, probably just past its prime." Except... it's lasted for 4 years and only broke when you futzed with it. Did he offer to find me the piece and fix it? Nope. Oh well. I hired hi for some other stuff a few weeks later-- more patching and painting of walls. He again asked to be paid on the spot, which I did. The next day I looked at the work he did and it looked terrible-- it looked worse than before. I promptly called Andrew asked him to cash my check pending him coming back to fix his work and do a satisfactory job. Let's just say that he went from zero to very defensive in an instant. Numerous calls and emails ensued that bordered on ridiculous (shouldn't your insurance cover shoddy work?) He finally came back, agreed his work had been crap. Still, his repairs sucked too! And, now, every time I look at that wall I sigh and think "I hope no one else hires this guy for their home if they care about it at all."

We started out working with his architect and structural engineer in order to get a permit for remodeling. Once we got a permit, demolition and construction began. This was a huge project and took months to complete. The project seemed to take forever, but we couldn't be happier with the end result (especially me, who loves to bake at home). Jack was easy to work with, communicated throughout the project and very professional. We felt his pricing was very reasonable for the level of craft he provided. His crews were in and out with the job done quickly and well. They did a great job of cleaning up before heading home for the day, which made it easy for us to check out the work that had been done on a daily basis. I had a great experience with Brandon for an electrical issue at my house. I originally called him…read moreafter finding some sketchy electrical work in a switch box in a new house I bought. I know enough of the basics to explain what I thought the issue was. Brandon stayed on the phone with me for 30 minutes asking questions and giving suggestions of things I could try. Everyone else I called didn't want to spend time having me explain the issue and instead just went straight to invoice writing. I appreciate that Brandon tried to help me over the phone in case I could solve it myself, saving me money. Ultimately I asked him to come out to take a look for himself since it didn't seem like there was an easy solution. He came out a few days later. Coincidentally, when he arrived I was frantically trying to figure out why my cement driveway was literally pumping water out of its cracks. Brandon was here for the electrical issue and not this and I already had a plumber scheduled to come out for an emergency call. But Brandon immediately started helping me out by checking the water meter and a number of the irrigation solenoids. In about 10 minutes he root caused it to be a massive leak in one of the irrigation pipes (we're not sure which but that's for another day) and was able to shut off the water line to the irrigation to stop the flooding. His whole goal was to save me a bunch of money by no longer needing a pricey emergency plumber to come out on a Saturday. He didn't even charge me for this adhoc troubleshooting. Because I was interested in the electrical work he was doing, he explained everything he was testing, what he thought the issue was, how the wiring should be done, and what new wires needed to be added. Ultimately, he determined that a 3-way switch was set up incorrectly and the box didn't have the appropriate hot wires and neutrals needed to get things working safely and to code. He charged a fee to come out (which is expected) and gave an estimate for the work to be done if I wanted him to fix the wiring (minus this initial fee if I went with him), but he also recommended I give it a shot myself given I had the knowledge to run the new wires. I really appreciated the fact that he wasn't trying to just charge me a bunch of money that was potentially unnecessary. It earns a lot of trust, and I plan on using him and his company as my go-to for all things electrical and remodel.

We…read morestarted a bathroom and kitchen remodel in Nov 2020 and it quickly spiraled into multiple change orders, him firing his entire staff, and then we fired him after he abandoned the project and did not meet the project deadline of July 23, 2021. After we fired him on Aug 9th it went from bad to worse. He called 911 on us, convinced his sub contractors to harass us, filed an improper mechanic lien, and had his subs also file improper mechanic liens. We have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to not only finish our project but to to go through the courts and bond system to remove those liens. It made us wonder if his jackhammer is too small, or if he is cutting corners by using only a single crewmember with a jackhammer, or whether jackhammering was even the best solution. (Maybe he could have used a bobcat?) When I called him to inquire about when he'd be finished and whether his approach was the fastest way to get the job done, he had a really bad attitude; which is what other yelpers have described in their reviews. Mr. Allen is certainly not someone we'd ever want to work with.
