I called and spoke with Erik and he was able to come out and assess the situation right away. He handled the repair himself and was able to devise an easy and practical manual lock solution for one of the windows that no longer locked on its own. His communication was fantastic. When you call, you're dealing with a real person--not an automated system or AI. If they don't answer, it's usually because they're in the middle of a job, and they'll get back to you. I also felt they were very honest. They specialize in window repairs and will actually try to fix something rather than immediately tell you it needs to be replaced. If it can be repaired, they'll explain what they can do and work with you. If it can't, they'll be upfront about that too. They also repair and replace window screens, which is a nice bonus. The…read moreproject resulted in widespread workmanship issues including overspray on windows and doors, inadequate surface preparation, peeling/bubbling coatings, damaged gutters, and unfinished repairs. The licensed contractor was not present on site and crews worked unsupervised. After documenting defects, we terminated the contract in writing. Despite this, we received lien threats and continued pressure to proceed with additional work. We are now obtaining independent estimates to remove the failed coating and correct the damage. Based on our experience, we would not hire this company again.

I called SCV Glassworks and first spoke to Eric and then to Andrew. The first response from Andrew was that they would replace the windows only if we purchased them "within the last year or so." I reminded him of the "Lifetime Warranty," and then Andrew said we had to file our request with Milgard. I pointed out that we purchased the windows from SCV Glassworks, and they hold themselves out as a "Milgard Certified Dealer." Andrew then changed his story and said he'd file a warranty request to Milgard to have the windows replaced. Andrew requested that I photograph the window frame and send it to him since it contained all the warranty information he needed. I forwarded the photographic information, and he confirmed receiving all the information he needed. He said he would put in a warranty request for me. After three weeks, I heard nothing, so I sent a text to Andrew asking for an update on my warranty request. He responded that he'll check with the manufacturer, Milgard, to determine the status of my warranty repair. He'd let me know as soon as he hears from Milgard. Two weeks went by, and not a word from SCV Glassworks, so today I decided to call Milgard myself. I reached Milgard's warranty department, and they advised that they had no warranty request from SCV Glassworks. Alexander, in Milgard's Customer Service Department, advised that it was best for me to just file my own warrant request through his department. Alexander asked that I forward the photographic information of the two windows to be replaced. I sent the information to Alexander, and in less than an hour, he confirmed receipt of my information, confirmed the warranty, and scheduled the window replacement. The Bottom Line: Milgard windows are great, and their service department is the best I've ever experienced. Kudos to Andrew in Milgard's Customer Service Department in Simi Valley. SCV Glassworks: First, a denial of a warranty, then a claim that they filed a warranty request when they had not, and no follow-up whatsoever. Their "service" was the worst.
