Would NOT recommend. We dropped off my sister's wedding dress to be tailored. We were very upfront and let them know we needed it in a rush because the dress came in late.. while my sister was fitting the dress, the lady CUT into the dress on the inside. We thought no big deal, she's trying to get ahead. We left after they agreed they would have it to us on time and giving us the price. They texted my sister 10 minutes after leaving and said they would no longer be able to fix it bc they have no time.. we were very honest about our timeframe from the very beginning. Now, we have taken it to 4 different tailors after picking it up that same day and NO ONE can fix it because of how HORRIBLE it was cut. Why cut it and AFTER tell us that you can't fix it???? Who is going to compensate my sister for not being able to get the dress tailored, not being able to return it because it's now ruined??? And her having to now buy a new dress???? There is no way that this is an ethical business. What horrible service. read more

Well friends I have discovered a unique exception to the rule of "you get what you pay for" within the walls of Express Alterations. Very responsive gang here with quick turnaround time and too notch adjustments down to the very last stitch. Brought in a few dresses and jeans all of which were made to fit even better than the day we bought them. Friendly faces await a building which from the outside might not say much however trust me when I say do not judge a book by its cover. I have never had any clothes tailored before, so I don't have a base of comparison, but I do love clothes and know how I like them to fit. This place is a real hole-in-the-wall, so don't judge it by it's location or curb appeal. My wedding date is quickly approaching...T-Minus 4 days!!!! And I needed to get my suit tailored. I was able to find a nice off the rack suit, but the pants were not my size (both too big and too long). After months of trying to find the "perfect" suit I was not going to give up on this find because of the size and decided to get it tailored. I arrived to Express Alterations on Monday the 2nd, to find out to my dismay they are not open on Mondays. I came back the next day and was greeted by owner/operator Thao and explained my situation. We enjoyed some light banter and she assured me that she could have my suit ready in one week. She even suggested to take in the sleeves a tad and gave me a great combo deal for taking in the pants and suit for a total of $50.00 (~$10 off). I left the shop in confidence and with congratulations from the proprietor. 5-10-16 I arrived after work to Thao recognizing me and getting my garment for a try-on. After trying it on I realized why people spend the extra to get their clothes tailored. It looked and fit great and made me feel great. I payed for the work with a smile on my face and left the shop advising Thao she did great work and that I would be back. In Short...I may not have a lot of tailors to compare Thao's work too...but what I do know is great customers service and a good fitting piece of clothes. I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this place to anyone! I actually have, and the lady said Thao and her husband (owners of Express Alterations) did a perfect job to hem her dress. So, I've been here twice, to get two bridesmaid dresses hemmed, basic job, right? Well, for my first dress, some other location tried charging me $125 for 5 inches off, I fled from a price that place trying to charge me more than the cost of my dress, to this hole in the wall with very few reviews. And was quoted $35! What a difference! Let me tell you, do not judge this place by its size or outside appearance! Granted, I've only had a couple multilayer layer bridesmaid dresses hemmed and straps taken in, but the work is impeccable and perfect lines. The owner is so sweet, she always recognizes me and makes sure I am happy with her tailoring. I really couldn't rave about this place anymore than I already do, and I drive up to 25minutes to get here! I never thought I'd have "a go-to lady" for my alterations, but this place has officially become it. Every time I go, it's clean, and smells normal--aka your clothes won't smell of chemical cleaners or anything like that if you drop it off. It's taken about 2 weeks for each dress. But I've also come during non busy times (i.e. Prom or holiday times). Oh, and the prices in the picture on Yelp are correct. She has them on the table at the front desk too! So happy I found this place! She is super helpful and gets my alterations back quickly. I am always nervous about alterations places because I have no idea how to know if the prices are fair.. these prices are super fair! She did my bridesmaids dress, which was quoted to me by another place to start around $70 because it was double lined, for $35! Truly half price but way better quality than what I've had to pay for in the past. Additionally, I had a halter dress and was nervous it would pop open because it came with a very small snap (hook and eye) behind my neck.. she heard my concern, understood what I needed, and said she'd sew on a large, special button so I wouldn't be worried the dress would pop open after dancing and hugging, etc. I was so impressed and grateful - she did it for $5! I have been going here for years since I am super short and have to alter a lot of clothing. Their prices are very reasonable and the owners are friendly. I live a little far and have tried places near me but all of them charge double the amount so I always end up back here. I would recommend this alterations place to anybody and it's worth the drive. The only negative thing I would have to say is they aren't the best at answering their phone and sometimes are closed (for holidays or an event) so it's a little disappointing to drive all the way there and see a sign saying they are closed. read more

Great place for alterations! The seamstress here is very friendly and will work with you on what you need done. I have had patches sewn on several gi's that are very thick and take heavy duty equipment to work on. Never a problem here! Work has always been on time too! I hate to be the negative one bc I had high hopes after meeting the owner and staff. Was even willing to pay the grossly inflated charge for the work. Believed every promise. What I got: They had item for 2 weeks, (not a wedding dress). Did not call me on the day dress was promised to be ready to say that it wasn't. I Showed up towards end of day on deadline day and was told by owner most of the work was done. Had ownEr show me what they had done and it was literally about 2% of what should have been completed when I showed up (towards end of biz day). Only 2% of work was done. Long story short. They offered me 10% off and said it woulD be done in an hour, told her I did not want a rush job on it which is why I gave it to them for two weeks. Needless to say I took the dress and left And now have 8 days until I wear it in a wedding. highly disappointed and there is now no time to have the work I need done now. 0 work done 0 phone calls to say work was not done and needed an extension 0 promises kept got a lot of excuses though which was the last straw. Did finally get an apology as i was walking out of the door w my 98% unaltered wedding party dress. I really liked their super nice staff when I dropped off the dress 2 weeks prior. WOW 5 stars! Ok so I received a dress I ordered online and it was way too big. I had to attend a wedding out of state 2 days later, so I quickly Googled "alterations" in my area. This place was 3 min away, so I grabbed the dress and a pair of my husband's dress pants that were a bit too long and hopped in the car. I was a little hesitant at first...Express Alterations is definitely "hole in the wall" and though I passed it a million times I had never seen it before--you won't see it unless you're looking. Upon entering, the proprietor (a nice Asian woman) had me try on the dress, she pinned it, and I told her to take 1 inch off the pants. I told her I needed it Friday morning (this was Wednesday late in the day) and she said OK. So Friday I went back and tried the newly altered dress on-it was PERFECT! I was thrilled. She did an amazing job. She took it in, made the slits higher, make a few other small changes, and hemmed the dress pants. The total bill? $20! I will definitely be returning...wearing a dress altered to my body was amazing and I would love to have her make some adjustments on other items of clothing! read more

I googled this place, saw the previous review, and I have to say I cannot believe how awesome this experience was. I brought in my wedding dress... probably waited a little longer than I should have to get the alterations done... so I was on a bit of a time crunch. The lady there assured me it would be no problem. She helped me try it on, and allowed me to mark (with an erasable marker) exactly what I wanted done. She ended up hemming it, taking it in, replacing the zipper, and also making alterations that I wanted to the neckline. It came out looking PERFECT! The woman there was beyond sweet, understood exactly what I wanted, and did it in record time (one week). She even came in on Sunday, when they are closed, to let me try it on and pick it up. I saw the ad about Express Alterations in December. I received a dress I ordered which was much too long--and needed to wear it the next day. I called and this wonderful woman told me "no problem." I went to her shop and tried it on. She showed me where the dress needed to be altered by the waist as well. It was ready the next day, and the alterations were really excellent. It's a hole in the wall place and they usually don't answer the phone right away, but they call back pretty quickly. I took a dress there to be hemmed and it had work along the edging that had to be moved, when it was all done it looked perfect but I wanted it a tad shorter. I have been to Express Alterations a couple of times and the owners are so nice and friendly. I have used them for alternations on a gown that I was wearing to my daughters wedding. They removed the train that dragged on the ground and shortened the gown They also shortened pants and added loops to the waist. I've also had them fix 3 pair of jeans. If they couldn't fix them I would have had to throw them away. I hunk they did a GREAT job and highly recommend them. read more
