This is not my 1st painful infection' it's my 2nd, which has brought me to Cedar Sinai emergency room where I am writing this review. A little over a year ago I was in the same predicament in the same emergency room. I am walking with a cane and will be off work for at least a week. Clearly the tools being used at Express Nails during pedicures and manicures are not being properly sanitized after each customer as I painfully found out. The 1st time this happened Vicky did apologize for the the pain and suffering but this time there's no need for an apology, just be prepared to have a conversation with my attorney. One of my favorite nail places! I know it looks a little rough on the outside, but the ladies here are so nice and helpful. Jenny is my favorite! She took my nails from destroyed to fabulous. I didn't expect 45 minutes. After the mani which I could have had my four year old granddaughter do with the same result, I assumed I'd receive my pedi. The woman came to do the pedi about 10 minutes later, Suddenly she leaves my feet soaking in the water, gets up, walks away with her tools and begins working on a man at the front of the salon. I am not making this up. I can only think I must have insulted her or hurt her feelings somehow. Perhaps a miscommunication since was was asking her about store hours and she wouldn't answer. After being there for over an hour and only getting a bad manicure, I wasn't on my best behavior. So I will take responsibility for a bit of childishness. However, to get up and walk away without saying a word and no explanation from one of the other women was less than professional,! So one woman said she would be with me very soon. A client came in and they found an employee to take her without a wait. She had no reservation. Two more clients came in - mo reservation, seen immediately. The tech who said she'd be with me shortly, turned to me and said, I'm almost finished here. So, though it appeared she was less than almost finished, I chose to wait because I saw that tech's pedicure-and a pedi was my primary reason for going. By now I've waited another 1/2 hour. 15 minutes later I decided to pull my water wrinkled feet from the tub, dry then off with the crappy towel which I couldn't care whether it was clean. I had been in that salon a total of an hour and fifty minutes - nearly two hours and all I had gotten was a crappy manicure. At the point of my getting up to leave, the woman who did my manicure was suddenly available to take care of my feet. I couldn't put my shoes on fast enough. I was not going to let that sweet, unskilled tech work on my feet as my door prize. I paid, left a tip because I appreciate the fact that skilled or not, these women work hard, leaning over hours on end, sniffling all those chemicals, etc. To top it off they're usually driving in from Orange country where they take care of their aging parents and save to put their children through college. All that being said, I will not go back unless I have absolutely no other choice. Check out the cuticles. Unfortunately I couldn't get a decent enough puc of the bad polish job. read more

I got a full set of acrylic nails. Even though I told the nail tech to please be careful of my cuticles, I still got cut 3 times and it burned like hell! I had to ask for antibacterial liquid to be put on ( burned like hell too). The nails came out ok, some minor differences between my hands but overall ok. I just won't go back since my thumb's cuticle is still swollen and painful to the touch. If it gets infected from this salon I will update this review. No one should have to bleed when getting their nails done. UPDATE: I'm at the doctors and guess what? My nails infected :) AVOID this place. read more

I was a happy to have an employee approach me as my nails were drying and asked if I wanted an upper back/neck massage - $5 for 10min. I didn't know they offered massages. It's $40 for a 60min. Okay yelpies, I don't know if I walked into an alternate universe but I did not have a ya'all come back now experience. Truthfully I went in w/ no appointment. I expected a wait but not over 45 minutes. I was really steamed when they took two customers who came in after I did also no appointments. But - there was also another woman WITH an appointment who was now left waiting. Then I read they will do that if you're a regular. I'm confused. I guess you get what you pay for. They may be a few dollars less expensive, but not worth it. They don't sterilize their tools after each guest. They basically wipe some of them with diluted alcohol. Restroom is inaccessible. Tons of dust everywhere. Uncomfortable chairs. The reason I give it one extra star more than just one is that the people have been nice to my parents for a long time. I had gel on before and after soaking my nail in acetone, the technician scraped off the polish WITH HER FINGERNAIL. So rough that she broke my nail slightly on the corner. Once I saw how poorly they work with even just removing polish I asked to not get a manicure and only change the polish with regular nail polish. Looks like work you do at home and not professional at all. The polish strokes are not clean or even. Cheap place = cheap work. I came here just for a quick regular manicure and I'm appalled as to how badly they can mess that up. If they can't do that correctly then I wouldn't trust spending money on gel or anything else here. Please learn the basics. And please .... buy some damn tools to clean off gel and don't let technicians use their nails. She scratched me multiple times near my cuticles while doing so. read more

I have been a loyal Express Nail patron for 10+ years. Before that, I followed my girls from another salon on Robertson. Anna, Annie, Donna and Titi tend to my nails and toenails. They are the best! I've been all over the world for mani/peds-i've been to the high priced salons and there are none that last like the mani/peds I get here. They take time to clean and prep the nails and the polish lasts for weeks. Tips for newbies: 1. be nice and tip well. tell the girls what you prefer and don't expect them to read your mind 2. don't come in and demand and then expect them to love you. 3. stop yelling on your cell phone about your daughter's sweet sixteen party, in some foreign language that sounds like you are arguing with everyone you speak to 4. if you have an issue, kindly address it 5. tip well -see #1 6. bring other nice customers 7. call in advance and you won't have to wait if you do those thing, I can pretty much guarantee the girls will treat you like gold for many years to come. I came here one day after getting gelato across the street, and then would drive from Westwood to have a mani/pedi at Express Nails. After years now I live just walking distance and when I can love to treat myself and go there. They do such an amazing job at getting all the hangnails and cleaning up everything with the pedicure that everywhere else has been lacking in comparison. They are very friendly, great prices, (Why is Beverly Hills 1/2 the price of everywhere in Burbank?) and do excellent work. Give them a try and you will be coming back for years! read more

Came in after I left Nail Bar and Beauty Lounge down the street disgusted because I had made a 10:30 appointment and at 11 they still did not have enough technicians (they had 2) to start on my simple pedicure. So I found Express Nails close by. I walked in without an appointment and was greeted so nicely by the women there. They were able to take me immediately. While I was having my toes done, I paid the $15 for the 20 minute neck, back, arm and hands massage. Delightful! I was in and out in a half hour and my toes look great. In addition, they're open 7 days a week, and if you come at 6:55pm ( they're supposed to close at 7pm), they will take you, and work on your nails with just as much care, as at any other time, no rush! Everyone is always nice to me and my nails always look great! Don't waste your time going there. They ignore your appointment time and then they ignore your questions. They only work on their own schedule which involves over booking to make as much money as possible. Yet they probably want great tips from everyone even though the clients are waiting for them? It's just shameful customer service unfortunately and they pretend like the owner is not there but it's Mimi and she's ok with ignoring you. I've gone here plenty of times since it is nearby my work and my boss recommended it to me. I get a full acrylic set and a pedicure. I had Anna twice before and she is so wonderful. She's friendly and did exactly what I wanted on my nail shape. They have a ton of color selections and other customers are very friendly as well. I drive from across town to get my mani/pedis here. Donna is the BOMB! The most exacting manicure you will ever get. I went in when my nails were an awful mess and she took about 40 minutes getting them into almost perfect condition. I've had a few other women there who were thorough and good, but nobody tops Donna in my book! They don't have any of those bacteria-riddled pedicure spa chairs--instead everyone gets a freshly plastic-lined tub. Thank goodness! read more

3-stars only because the price is hard to beat! I can't remember how much my manicure was, but the mani/pedi combo is only about $24 or so (I remember staring at the pricing list cursing my already painted toes). It's a no-frills place that gets the job done, pretty much. The woman could have done a better job shaping and filing my nails since I was left with a few jagged edges, but again, the price makes it hard to complain! They do have a huge selection of OPI and Essie polishes and most of the customers took advantage of the cheap massages everyone keeps raving about. They don't have the whirlpool pedicure foot bath things or drying stations, though. However, the plastic buckets seemed to work fine and looked clean. They also don't rush you to pay-- you can sit there as long as you want, waiting for your polish to dry. All in all, not too shabby, but I think next time I'm in the area I'll try out one of the numerous other salons along the street. read more

"Not So Express" I've been here on numerous occasions and they always take well over an hour. I know I should expect talking and chatter in a nail salon but this is ridiculous. Full on conversations in front of your face with the ladies using their 'outside voices' YELLING ACROSS THE SALON. What do you do? Tell them to turn it down a notch? I can see the expression of the customers getting their nails done and everyone looking at each making eye contact on how uncomfortable it is. Imagine someone doing your nails, you're already closer than need be but to add an extra decibels of yelling in your face??? I don't care what language it's in, it's just R U D E. I feel like saying, "Quit the chatter, (because they're not paying attention to what they're doing) and get to work! It's an okay nail salon. The first reason why I am giving 3 stars is because the women are not uber friendly (which anyway rarely happens) but still, you want to greet your customers with a little smile so they feel welcomed ;-) The second reason is because for some reason I doubt that it's a super hygienic place. The girl who did my nails went immediately from me to another lady without changing her pedicure supplies/tools. I mean unless it's dipped in a product that disinfects them automatically but I didn't see anything. Good thing it went from me to the other lady and not the other way around because after she removed the client's nail polish, I noticed that the lady's toe nails were yellowish and odd looking. The nail technicians were very thorough and attentive. Wasn't a long wait at all and they worked fast yet detailed.

Pros- they did a great job. Picked out a nice color with matching gel for me. Friendly enough. Inexpensive. For a pedi, gel mani, and back massage from a 3rd lady while 2 others worked on my hands and feet it was $56 plus tip. Cons-couldn't find the place because iPhone maps takes you to the wrong place. No pedi chairs. I'm not sure how hygienic it is. They both took tools out of their cases, squirted a little alcohol on them and got started also it was really hot and they had no air. read more

I've been coming here since I was 12 years old. That's almost 18 years and the people who worked here then still work here now, so if anyone knows anything about nails it is Mary , anna , and the rest of the staff at express nails . I come every other week for a manicure and pedicure and sometimes a $6 color change in between . Sometimes for $5 I'll get a 10 min back or foot massage too. Best $5 you can spend on yourself . Mani and pedi includes: color Removal, soak, cuticle cut, scrub for the pedicure , mini massage with lotion and polish all for $26 total . These ladies are fast, clean and hard working. The ladies at this place are very nice and do an overall good job. The place can get a bit noisy because they are all always talking across the room and sometimes you have to ask them to keep it down, but for the most part it's a good place. They are not good with appointments because they will not refuse anyone. It can get very busy you might have to wait up to an hour to sit! STAY AWAY!!!!!!! I have been a loyal customer here for 8 years and I never went somewhere else even when it was out of my way. However the last few times my experience has been HORRIBLE. This place is not as clean as you would think. They pretend that they sterilize their tools but I found Someone else's cuticle in the bag!!! The towels get re-used and the people don't notice because they are so busy. They re-use gloves which is against the health department laws. They used to be good but now they don't even care about their customers. Mimi cut me the last 3 times I was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No sorry, no apology, no discount. Nothing!!!!!! She just continues doing her thing as though you are not sitting In pain. I felt bad for her so I didn't make it a big deal until I GOT AN INFECTION. And it turns out my friend got a nail infection too that same month from here. The rudest thing I experienced here the last time I came (which was the time I got a nail infection) was when they made me wait 1 hour for my appointment!!! They let other people go in front of me- and make excuses to the people waiting. This place really needs to shut down or have all staff switched out. I don't recommend anyone to come here. When I called them about my infection they "all of a sudden" pretended not to understand me. Which is weird bc they always speak English. I came in today for a mani/ pedi and they said they would take me without any issue, asked me to pick a color, and sit down. This was all standard procedure until I realized I was sat for 15 minutes unattended, talked to, or otherwise acknowledged. I walked out and no one blinked an eye.
