I have been here before and really like it. However this time parking in the area changed and that was challenging. I almost gave up but was able to snag a spot. I was cut on my big toe when the person was buffing my nails. In the past the massage on the legs and arms were amazing. This time I barely got a massage on my hands/arms. I have tried to like this place. It has great massage chairs and having massage chairs are a challenge in the area. However, they do not value appointment times (I have waited almost an hour twice with a pre-booked appointment), their quality of manicure/pedicure is fair (the maintenance techniques are poor, my nails often chip quickly after) and they don't give great foot massages. I would not recommend unless all you care about is sitting in a massage chair for 2+ hours for a sub par nail experience. read more

Been trying out different nail parlors in the area that give good quality, polish and last long but I have yet to come to find another nail spot that doesn't disappoint. They are pretty great at timing so if you call ahead and give them an exact time that you will be there they will accommodate you within 5 to 10 minutes where you don't have to wait like other places falsely give you hope, they just upgraded their chairs so they have scaled the quality and the vibe although there are a few other competitors near them. I always come here for a monthly touchup on my toes and it usually lasts me a month or more. They use high-quality paint and take their time. read more

Visiting from Las Vegas, decided to get a gel pedicure for myself and a regular pedicure for my boyfriend. We waited about 25 minutes and we just told to sit down in the chairs.... No communication until we started looking around. The place is very clean and extremely quiet. The water for the feet basin in the pedicure chairs does not work for any of the chairs. They bring out bowls of extremely hot water and set them in the basin. My tech was gentle at first however she was very, very persistent around my cuticles. She kept digging on my big toe and I eventually had to ask her to stop. My toes were really sore and cut unevenly and short. So I ended up just getting a clear coat. As soon as I saw my toes (my big toe specifically) I was so upset. She cut WAY too much of the sides of the nail and all my nails are uneven and a few are way too short. I'm super concerned I'm going to get an ingrown nail now and it's still painful. She spent an HOUR digging at my cuticles and only spent 5 minutes on smoothing my heels, removing my dead skin, and there was no massage. Both services together were $100. SKIP THIS PLACE. RIP my big toe. read more

Not a good job and broke my natural nails and then the extensions broke the next day.

I called Yen all the way from the east side from another nail salon because I had had a very scary experience with the other salon putting the wrong solution onto my nails that caused a chemical reaction with the foil that caused my fingers and hands to feel like they were being electrocuted. I was so freaked out and after washing my hands, I was not comfortable continuing and left the salon with my old gels partly filed off. It was Saturday afternoon and I knew it would be hard to find another appointment. I headed back across town toward home and called Yen on the way to ask if she minded just finishing the removal for me even though they were super busy and booked up. They told me I could come straight there, so I did. When I arrived, Yen and her team were so kind to me. They could all tell I was distressed at what happened and she talked me through it. We both agreed that it likely wasn't acetone that had been put on my nails at the other salon, but she told me we would do a patch test with acetone before they used it to finish removing my gels just to be on the safe side. Everything felt normal and they sat me right down to continue not only taking off my old gels (I had told them if they didn't have time to do my manicure but could just finish removing the gels, that would be fine, as busy as they were and that I could come back the next day with an appointment) but the nail technician I had gave me the most beautiful gel mani I've ever had. The almond shape she filed is absolutely perfect I was really shaken by the experience earlier that day so walking into Yen's nails and being taken care of the way they did meant so much, it was more than a great manicure, it was really good for my nervous system too. And Yen's salon is absolutely SPOTLESS. Even on the busiest day of the week! read more

Yens nails salon If I wanted to destroy my own nails, I would've bit off my acrylic nails and completely ruined my nail beds. Or if you wanna ruin your nails and you have acrylics just come here. They'll do it for you, I guess it's a common practice. I've been to every single nail salon on third Street, and what I can say is no other place uplifts your acrylic nail with another acrylic nail. Yes I had a fake nail unearth my acrylic nail and it completely ripped off my natural nail underneath, my pinky nail hurts so badly, they were nice enough to put Neosporin on it. The positives: The nail salon is very clean, they have plenty of room and social distancing, there's a lot of nail selection of colors, and they listen and ask you questions, it seems like a regular person comes here frequently. However, I will not be returning because my index finger and my pinky finger are completely destroyed on the nail bed, and they could've told me that she's been doing this business longer than others in the area and they normally do this practice of uplifting another nail with another nail, the only thing they used to help the process was a deep bondage Lacore. As they were doing this, I was communicating and saying this kind of hurts, is this a common practice? And also communicating that if they wanted to soak it longer I wouldn't mind that. But she insisted this is how they do it, so I naturally trusted this place which I've never been to before. Also I wanted a oval-shaped, but because my nails had to be cut so short because one of them was ruined, I now have toe looking thumbs and index fingers which I really don't like to look at. I think you know the feeling. About the acrylic nail removal: Other places will either soak your nails with minimal acetone and scrape off the acrylic nail, or they'll completely soak your hands which I don't like either, but never have I had a place disregard somebody's natural nail bed by ripping off your acrylic nail WITH ANOTHER NAIL. Is this a common torture? I'm only giving it 2 stars because #1 they discounted me which is also unheard of for nail places. So thank you. And the #2 is also for the color because it looks great. They do dip powder, they do gel, they do seem legit, but they will never get my business again because I cannot afford to have my nails be in constant pain like they are right now. Be sure you know what kinds of questions and practices you like when you're getting your nails done so you can be very clear about the kind of experience you hope to have. read more

I started getting my nails done on a regular basis about 5 years ago. This was my first and last time going to Yen's nails. This was the worst experience I've ever had. Not only did the nail tech literally cut into my nail bed under my nail so it started bleeding on two of my fingers (SO PAINFUL) but they took 2.5+ hours to remove and redo my GelX. To top it all off, the nails BROKE and CAME off less than TWO weeks after getting them done. Usually I have my GelX on for 5-6 weeks. They also filed down my nails sooooo much so they're completely ruined. Truly wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Yen Nails is a hidden gem! I've been to plenty of nail salons here in Los Angeles, left so happy today with my gel manicure & pedicure! Chau & Kayla did such a great job. I appreciate that the manicurist did one hand completely & then switched to the other side of my chair to do my other hand - as opposed to that awkward arm cross most places make you do. I was actually able to relax, enjoy the experience & tend to my phone if I wanted to. I generally try and make an appointment, knowing that sometimes I will have to wait. All of the staff at the salon are friendly, and very skilled. When on occasion I've had a problem, Yen has corrected it without any further charge. This is the mark of a good business. The salon is spotlessly clean, which means a lot to me. read more
