We've been getting our oil changed and various services for the past 8 years at the Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers on Willow Lane in McDonough. Most recently we bought a set of tires for our SUV. Not only was the price less than "tire stores" it was a quick turnaround and the alignment made it ride like a new car. Since coming to this location, we have dealt with the same manager and several of the same employees. I hate that you cannot leave zero stars. You have to put at least 1 to be able to leave a review. I used to go here for years and everything was great with excellent service. Not any more Jack. Last year my air deflection shield came off my Explorer while driving down the interstate about 1 hour after my oil change. They had not bolted it back in place properly (obviously) that was a BIG ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. Plus, me on the side is the interstate trying to fix this. (50 year old woman). Then I haven't been back since then. Went back this week because I was in a rush and low and behold my dang hood pops up about 2 miles out!! I called them and he said he didn't know why I have so much trouble when other people don't? Dude, really?? That is your answer?? Again here I am on the side of the interstate fixing their mess-up. I have loved using Express Oil Change McDonough due to its convenient location and quick service. Then I made the mistake of taking my Mercedes there. Unnecessary removal and improper re-installation of vital engine components by a well-meaning oil bay tech, later assisted by a similarly well-intentioned, yet inexperienced mechanic resulted in costly engine repairs. Naturally, Express Oil Change, LLC denies any wrongdoing as it is their corporate culture. I would only cautiously use them if you have a simple vehicle that only requires removing a drain plug and unscrewing a filter without any complexity. I believe they are good people and they will take on more than they are experienced with. I hope they will take it upon themselves to improve because they have the potential of being a good shop if they make the appropriate changes. - Frank read more

I strongly warn anyone against taking their car here for an oil change. I took my 2002 Toyota Camry on 8/18/2018. Within 30 minutes of leaving my "check engine" light came on. I took it back and was promptly told that oil changes had nothing to do with the light coming on. He checked the code and then said it was something they usually see on Nissan Altimas after an oil change. He cleared the code and said it should not come on anymore. Drove the car for 12 more days. On 8/30/2018, I left my home. After a block, I heard a noise under my car and it began to make a stranger noise. I immediately turned around and drove back to my driveway. I took note that oil was streaming out of the car. I checked YELP for a good mechanic. Called All Automotive Repair in McDonough. They gave me the name of a wrecker co. Had the car taken to the mechanic. The next day they called to let me know the oil filter had fallen off and all the oil had leaked out. They cleaned it up and did an oil change. When I called Express Oil Change and spoke with the manager. He agreed to refund me the cost of their botched oil change but not the tow bill or the repairs. As a result of taking my car there I am left holding the bill for 200.00. Will not be going there again. Ive learned my lesson read more

I went to the McDonough GA location to get an oil changed. I was told I needed to replace my belts because they were cracked. I agreed and they replaced them. I drove to Sam's club and when I was leaving the car began making loud noises and the wheel was hard to turn. The wheel was stiff and it got worst by the day so I took my car to nissian dealership for a diagnostic test. The stated, the car was leaking oil because the cap was not replaced properly. The belts was hanging off. They charged me 110.00 dollars. I called Express oil and spoke to the manager Bruce. He agreed to compensate me for the Nissian cost. Jerrod called and stated I should come by 5PM and I agreed. When I arrived, a staffer stated Jerrod left early and another staffer was able to help me. He gave me 100 dollar bill that was torn in half but taped and 2 five's. I took a picture of the torn 100 dollar bill. I wish I could display this. I will keep trying to display it. I am reporting this because they put my life in danger. There mishap could have cost me my life. This is serious and my wheel could have lock on me. I do not want anyone to experience what I did so please be careful. I rely on my car to get to work and when you trust someone to fix your car for the cost, it doesn't mean it will be exceptional and/or good quality of work. Please be careful, the quality of work is POOR. I will never ever go back to that location or any Express Oil locations. Thank you for your time. read more

I had my oil changed on Saturday afternoon August 27, 2016 Saturday evening I noticed my car was leaking oil. I went back on Monday and of course something wasn't done right. And of course the technician tried to tell it wasn't that bad. Impressive. My car needed an emission inspection and had an intermittent problem where plumes of white smoke would billow out the back. But only for a few moments and every few days. They isolated the problem to the PCV valve. Not only did they fix that, they fixed other minor items and charged me a VERY reasonable price. If I could give less than 1 star I would. This used to be where I went for great service and oil change and emissions for myself and my son's car. The last few times I went they up sold anything and everything including wiper blades they replaced on just the last visit. Then to add insult to injury after they tell me I need the most expensive of everything the tech under my hood pops up shakes his head and says pseudo seriously " we have a problem here" I ask what and he says my oil pan is cracked and in fact it was so bad that there was no oil in there and will have to be replaced and this and such bolt is missing also and a couple other things I missed as I was fuming at that point. Even went so far as to ask if I hit something . I told him that was interesting as I was able to check my oil and it was not empty and that a leak as he described would leave telltale marks in my driveway. He blustered and went on about the oil change which I paid over 70 for. I have not been back nor do I plan to. I have however let everyone know my experience there. read more

I used to go to Express exclusively due to the ease of use and their promotion with the Braves. One thing I've always really loved about Express is that when I go in and ask for an oil change I'm going to get an oil change and they aren't going to up-sell me and tell me I need this or that. For this exact reason I always send my fiance there to get her oil changed as well. Unfortunately, I went in yesterday and all that had changed. I had come to Express while I was waiting on a set of tires to arrive at Kauffman. They said it would take about an hour to get the tires there from another store so I had a few minutes. I pull into Express and everything is going well. Then the guy says "You need a new air-filter and you need 4 new tires like yesterday." The truth is I needed 2 new tires like yesterday and I'll need 2 more like tomorrow, but either way I told him I was leaving there to pick up my tires and asked him the price on the filter; which I knew I needed. The filter was a good price so I took it, but then he started leaning on me on the tires. Offering me a free oil change, asking me how much I was paying at Kauffman, telling me how he had the tires in stock and he could beat the price without even asking me what particular tire I wanted. I told him that I had already told them I would be back for the tires and he said "you know him personally or something?" as if simply having given someone my word wasn't enough of a reason to honor it. Meanwhile, I'm overhearing the guy in the next bay trying to charge a lady in an Accord $71 of an oil change and I have to think "What if that were my fiance or mom?" and I just can't get down with going here anymore. I have used these guys several times. They are always super fast and courteous. No, I probably wouldn't get any serious service done here, it's a quicky place and you have to know that going in. The reason I am giving them 5 stars is because when they were doing an oil change they noticed a problem with my transmission and let me know in time to get it covered under the manufacturer warranty. They knew it was under warranty and could have been dishonest and not told me hoping I would come back there to get the work done but they gave me a heads up saving me at least $800, and BARELY in time before the warranty expired. If I could give ZERO stars, I would!!!! On my first trip to this placed I asked for an oil change & to fix my windshield fluid hose. They said no problem, we can do that. I waited for an hour and a half. No one came to update me as to why it took so long, then the sales associated had the nerve to ask me to wait another 10 mins to do a tire rotation. After that he told me I had to come BACK to the store because they did not have the part. They called me 3 days later to come in so they could fix it. When I arrived, none of the workers knew what I was referring to & I had to explain why I was there twice because the worker did not tell anyone else about the issue with my car. I waited 15 or so minutes for them to try to find the part. They finally located and began to put it on my car. The worker then notified me that I need not one but two of the same parts. So I had to come back yet again. 3 weeks later...I had to contact them to ask if the second part came in. I never received a call to come in! Needless to see, I was met with the same cluelessness as the second visit. I refuse to go back ever again!!! The workers are nice but there is NO COMMUNICATION between the workers & every time I asked for a manager, he was never on site. read more

I have given this place so many chances based on convenience. I'm finally done with them. I went in to have wheels rotated and balanced and to have my oil changed. $161 later, it was done. My family and I went on a road trip the very next day...there was a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, as the days passed while we were away...the noise got worse. Upon returning home after 3 days, the noise was horribly loud at 30mph. I called them to notify them about what was going on. I took my car in at my earliest opportunity. They then told me that I needed to have a rear bearing replaced and I needed new rear tires...but no one said I needed new tires 3 days ago. The quote for the job was $772.61. I declined purchasing tires from them because they did not make this recommendation before I took my children and pets on a roadtrip, just 3 days before, with the current tires. I instantly distrusted them. I came home with my estimate and called around for more info. I found the bearing assembly for $187 CHEAPER than their parts quote. I found the required labor to be .8 instead of the 1.8 hours the required. I am having the repairs done for $71 CHEAPER than they wrote for. I just want to share what I've experienced. I saved $258 by NOT using them. read more

I contacted the service provider to find out the cost of an oil change, tire rotation, and headlight adjustment. The gentleman who answered the telephone told me they were running a special that would include oil change, balance and rotate tires, flush the radiator, replace the wiper blades for $120. I asked if they could adjust my headlights and he said yes, they would do that, too. We agreed that I could bring it in when I left work, no appointment was necessary. When I arrived, a different gentleman met me at the car and I explained about the special I was there to have done. He stated they had another special that included all of the same services except the radiator flush would be replaced with a fuel system cleaning, but the price would be approx. $5 more. I told him to check the radiator and if it didn't need flushing, I would take this special instead. I asked about the headlights and he asked me if I had been messing with them and why did they need to be adjusted. I explained I had replaced the bulb in one of them and couldn't get it adjusted. He pulled the car into the oil change bay and I went inside the waiting room. He came back about 5 mins. later and told me the radiator/antifreeze was fine. So, we agreed on the fuel cleaning special instead. He explained that my car used a "barrel type" oil filter and it would be $5 extra. He explained that the fuel cleaning was supposed to take 25 minutes but they usually liked to do it for 30 mins. He said I should go get something to eat or go to the QT and they would pull my car around the front of the building when they were done. I walked to the QT directly in front of this business and got a drink. I was gone approx. 5 mins. When I left the business, my car was parked in the oil change bay. When I walked back from the QT, my car was still in the oil change bay. A few minutes later, someone had pulled it to the opposite corner of the building outside the bay; the hood was up, but I saw no one performing work. Periodically, I would get up to check the progress. I never saw anyone performing services on the car. My car was never driven into the bay after it left the oil change bay. It was never raised on a rack. I never heard an air wrench or saw anyone remove a tire or adjust the headlights. Approx. 1 hour after I arrived, another gentleman came into the waiting room and told me my car was ready and someone had pulled it to the front of the building. I asked the gentleman if the tires had been balanced and rotated before I paid and he said, "yes, ma'am." I remembered as I was driving home that the driver's side rear tire had a slow leak and I had lost the valve stem cap some time ago. When I got out of my car, I looked at the back driver's side tire. The valve stem cap was missing. I checked the air in that tire and it was low. The tires had never been touched, so I had to wonder if any of the other work had been done either. I contacted the manager the next morning to explain to him what I thought had happened. He was almost instantly defensive. I told him I thought they had not performed the services I paid them for and he told he knew his crew and they would never do that because they knew he would fire them on the spot and they were "fine Christian boys". I told him, "but they did do that". He told me no, they had been working 6 days a week in the heat and the tire rotation/balance had just been "overlooked". I told him again that I had asked before I left if they had done that and was told "yes, ma'am". So, if they had lied to me about that, how did I know they had done anything? He told me I was welcome to come sit up there and watch the video tape. I explained to him that I work for a living and he said "we all do". I do know they replaced my wiper blades and my oil is clean. I don't know if they performed the fuel system cleaning or changed the oil filter. I know they didn't rotate or balance my tires or adjust my headlights. I have written an email to the corporate office explaining this situation. But, I will never do business here again. read more
