However, my experience today (my second visit) was very disheartening because I came in to sell a guitar and wasn't made aware of many things such as his brother thinking I was selling my guitar along with the case (which I never intended on selling) as well as just being quickly put aside to talk with regulars that come to the shop. I came in to sell an ESP LTD M17 that I didn't really play anymore and was just looking to shell some money out. Todd didn't help me today, but his brother did. He was a bit awkward and quiet through and throughout but I didn't think much of it. I told him that I was here to sell a guitar, mind you never told him I was selling the guitar and case. Told me to place the guitar case on a box to check it out and he gave me a quote that I was fine with, didn't really care how much I got out of it. I was given the money and was gonna take my guitar from the case but was told abruptly that my case was included in the whole thing? My issue here is why wasn't this mentioned verbally but instead discretely slipped in into a "contract" I signed. I came in to sell a guitar. I was given value for a guitar. Was told that value was for said guitar only. It's just overall disheartening because the case does hold sentimental value to my heart, and second off after this whole exchange and me just asking if I could just buy it off of him (with him telling me he can't and that I should've told him the case wasn't included- that it's too late) was quickly put aside to assist a regular. I don't necessarily carry hate in my heart but the whole exchange between me and him was just overall a depressing experience. I planned on doing more business with them in the foreseeable future but I don't intend on going here anymore.

The repair side of this business is an absolute JOKE…read more I brought in a MusicMan amp in 2020 for service, and was given an estimate of $180 upon dropping it off. The "tech" assured me that he would not proceed with any work until he gave me a full quote, with specific prices/work needed, and until I ok'd the price, and gave him consent for the work to be done. Well, I heard nothing for weeks, no updates, no price estimate, etc. Then I get a call from them, and basically get told "it's done, it'll be $350". I asked why, and he said my amp was a "real bitch" to work on. Couldn't give me a list of parts it needed (beyond a tube socket and tube), or a list of work, etc. Upon picking it up, I made it clear that I never gave consent for $350 worth of work, and told the "tech" that I'm not paying a cent over the quoted $180. Dude threw a huge fit, swore at me several times, and accused me trying to scam them. Then his buddy stepped in (who I assume is the co-owner?), defused the situation, and agreed with me/let me take my amp after paying the initially agreed upon $180. Oh yeah, and the work was sloppy as can be. They love to make it known that they're a "Fender Factory Service Center" but, in my opinion, they shouldn't be. Any musician should avoid at all costs.

I went in about a week ago with some old gold jewelry. Rings chains, etc. I was looking to just…read moresell it all for just a spot price. It varied slightly between 10, 12 and 14 carat. Before I went in, I checked the spot price value for all of the gold. I also weighed it so I knew exactly. What I had. There were a few extra pieces that needed to be tested. And some of it was gold and some of it just plated. So all that did was add to the value of what I knew I had. When I asked them if they would be willing to purchase that for the spot gold price. Which was going for $68 a gram that day. They only offered $48 a gram. That is a whopping 30% that they were going to take off the top! That was absolutely ridiculous when I know that most places do not charge that much for processing to purchase gold at Spot price. That should've been more like between 5 and 10%. To charge 30% was a total rip off! Needless to say, I did not sell my gold to them nor would I. Nor would I ever go back there. I guess they just figured that I was stupid. That I didn't know the value of what I had and would just take their lowball offer. Don't go to American Gold Exchange if you want to get fair prices for selling your gold or silver jewelry.

I also brought a pair of designer eyeglasses with a broken earpiece that an optometrist told me would be expensive and difficult to repair. Fernando made some helpful suggestions about how to best repair the necklace (which saved me money) and the cost for both repairs was less than another jewelry shop had quoted just to repair the necklace!
