I've only taken 4 classes here but I'm totally hooked. Every single instructor I took classes with are extremely patient, encouraging and positive. There's not one that I didn't enjoy. Although I find some are better at explaining and breaking down tricks than the others. I've tried beginner, beg spinning and intro to trick classes. If you don't like floor works, beg spinning and intro to tricks are great. Highly recommend if you've been thinking about taking a class. Parking can be hard, but if you park slightly further, it's not as a big deal. read more

I have been going to this studio for two years and I cannot day enough good things about the instructors, the space, and the positivity and love I feel every time I step into the studio. Based on my friend Su L.'s suggestion, I came to The Girls Room to try out their 1 hour beginner pole classes. Ladies, be prepared to leave the studio with the following three things: 1. Confidence If there's anything The Girls Room helps instill in you, it is the mindset that you are a fierce, sexy badass. No one is there to judge you because everyone is trying to learn. My favorite instructor so far is Femi. She is superb at demonstrating the moves and then providing helpful tips to give you that nice sexy touch to your tricks / routine. 2. A new (and fun!!) workout option After my first workout, I really felt the burn in my upper body / arms. Some may say that you need *some* upper body strength, but I think you only need to come in with a lot of untapped courage to just try things you didn't think possible. Don't be surprised if an introductory beginner class asks you to do a headstand! (This is where that untapped courage comes into play) If you come into class with this and an open mindset, I'm sure you're going to have a blast. 3. Glitter Literally, I have no idea where the glitter comes from. I leave class with it in my toes, in my hair, on my arms. But I don't mind ... because it makes me feel even more FABULOUS. Overall, my impression of The Girls Room is that it's a super fun class that will not only give you a great workout but a confidence boost as well. For anyone who has been in dance or gymnastics or ice skatin and can't find a workout class or gym exciting enough or actually challenging (yoga, barre, Zumba just not the same) this place will rock your socks off! And it's not just pole dancing- I love the Ariel hoops classes! What upper body strength, and flexibility I have regained. It's fun to watch the pole dancers- they are amazing, this is a legit studio- but some folks are put off by that, and I personally just don't feel as safe or that I'm as good at it as I am doing hoops. I've been going to Extend for about 3 years now and I have had an amazing experience. When I moved to Dallas I didn't have any friends and was looking for a fun way to get in shape. I found Extend and found a family. I spend 2-3 days at the studio every week and have gone from beginner classes to Advanced. The instructions are fabulous and will kick your butt, if you stick it out you will lear so much and get so much stronger without even realizing it. I can't recommend Extend highly enough! I originally went in for a Bachelorette party and was honestly dreading it. When I got there and we started, it was SO much fun and I couldn't believe I could actually do the tricks. It definitely boosted my confidence and self-esteem. When we left, the Bride and I already decided we were going to look into memberships. Fast forward a month later, we were already anxiously awaiting our next class and signed up for the bronze package. When you let the instructors know you're a beginner, they REALLY cater to you. I'm talking about sharing the pole next to you, going over the moves until you get the hang of it, and personally coaching you if you're still struggling. After a month (4 classes) we were getting better, it was still a challenge, but we left every session more confident and still excited to be partaking in the classes. After month two we were sold and wanted to start doing classes 2 - 3 times a week. We upgraded to the Silver package and Samantha (the manager) was quick and prompt to cancel our bronze membership before we signed up for Silver. I can honestly say that this is the best workout I have ever had. I was in drill (dance) team for 4 years in high school and thought I was in shape. Now I actually have a core, I can hold myself up and spin with confidence. I can even run and not HATE myself and regret the entire thing. No, this is NOT a Penthouse letter. It is a true story of ACTUAL events from my class at The Girls Room. I signed up for a Lap Dancing class. I thought it would be good exercise. There were four of us in the class. Me, a 40ish year old lady and a set of blond 21 year old twins. Oh wait, it gets better...they are professional strippers who were there to get back in the game after taking some time off recovering from 'surgery.' (boob job and tummy tuck) In this class, you have to practice on each other. The twins could not be a pair, so the other lady and I each got a twin to 'learn' on/from. Much terrific advice was exchanged and I learned more here than I did in some of my graduate classes. After being practiced on, I have a better understanding of why guys enjoy this activity. Yow! Sugar Bear thinks this is the best exercise class I've ever taken. He is very encouraging of my practice and insists that I maintain the skills learned in this class. He just wishes the class could have been video taped! My only gripe with the Girls Room is the disorganization of the management. I signed up for another class which was cancelled and no one called me. I tried to retake it, but that class was cancelled as well. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll ever get to take it. The classes here are upbeat, and the staff is supportive no matter what physical level you are on. Lap dancing and pole dancing are great exercise and gets you moving muscle groups you didn't even know you had! read more

I was supposed to try this place out a few months ago, but the girls I invited to go with me got pregnant. Then i got in a workout rut this week and I decided to go to The Girls Room to take the Rock N Pole class. The Rock N Pole class is not a real pole dancing class, but it uses the pole as a prop. It's more like a "Dance Like The Pussycat Dolls" class, and it was super fun. I was a little intimidated when i walked in because i was all in my normal workout gear and dorky ponytail, and there were all these girls with their long pretty swishy hair, hoop earrings and little booty shorts. As long as you bring your attitude, you'll be ok. Plus, the comraderie is pretty great among those who take the class. It's very obvious that the students are having fun, letting loose, and feeling pretty sexy. The class starts with a warm up and a pretty kick ass abs work out. Then you learn a routine for the duration of the class. The routine that we learned this week was all about working the hair...girls, you know what I mean! Picture any Britney Spears' video...I woke up with a sore neck; i guess i was feeling it! The only downfall is that it is kind of expensive - $25 for a 1 hour class. This is about $10 more than i normally pay for dance or yoga classes. read more

WHAT. A. WORKOUT. I have so much more respect for those...um, working the pole after taking the Level I class here. It takes some serious strength to do the tricks that look like they come so easy. Dont worry, you don't have to be a pro or even an athlete to take workout here. The hardest part is getting in touch with your sensuality and not feeling embarrassed trying to dance sexy with a bunch of strangers. I left my first class sweaty and super sore the next day. Before I even left, I purchased a package I enjoyed the class so much. The music is great, your classmates are all in the same boat with you and are friendly and the teachers walk around to make sure if you need help or have questions they get to everyone. There are several different classes offered here, although I have only taken the pole dancing Level I and II. They have a flexability class, zumba, chair dancing, etc.. It really is fun! read more

I'm never going back to the gym. I joined TGR about a year and a half ago, and I would not be leaving it if it weren't for the fact that I am going to grad school :) I remember my first impression well because it's a question I am commonly asked. I was new in town and decided to try out pole fitness. Upon my [late] arrival to class, I wasn't really sure what to do so I kind of found my own yoga mat and began stretching with everyone else. A girl was very nice and let me share a pole with her because the class was full. I had expected a warmer welcome from the instructor, but other than that, the class was a lot of fun and before I knew it, I was signing up for a year-long membership. It's a very laid-back atmosphere. Most girls are there in a sports bra, tank, and booty shorts. Make-up and pedicures are optional :P Yoga mats are no longer available, but there is unlimited water (almost all the time), a small bathroom, and some cubicles for you to put your things in. Oh, and you don't have to worry about men being in the class because 1) they are not allowed and 2) you can tell Karen and the front desk, and she'll take care of anyone who is not welcomed ;) There are so many inspirational women at TGR. Everyone is kind, supportive, and passionate about the sport. I have made many great friends in Dallas through the studio, and I must say that I feel so fortunate to have met them!! Pole has become my stress-reliever and daily (well, every-other-day-ly) routine! I am able to do real push-ups, my bra fat is [almost] gone, I have toned many parts of my body, and I am thiiiiis close to doing the splits (which I never, ever imagined I would be able to do again)! I love and miss this studio so so much (I moved out of Dallas :/)! There are many class times and options and the instructors are all amazing. They each have different styles but they are all fun, supportive, safe, and knowledgeable. I follow some of the instructors on Instagram too--they are also just so so talented. They really inspire me to want to get good at not only more advanced pole tricks but get better at dancing and feeling comfortable in my own skin. I really learned a lot in these classes and pushed myself to try new and kind of scary tricks. What really makes this studio great is all the other students! Love and miss my pole sisters! I'm not much of a dancer, I completely lack rhythm, and I don't consider myself a particularly sexy or seductive person. Truthfully, the best thing to bring to The Girls Room is a sense of humor and an ease with yourself. The instructor I had was great, she taught us some good moves and kept it fun, using instructions that referred to our "teasers" (boobs) and our "pleasers" (downstairs area). Our one hour session seemed way too short, and it's only made me want to go back again. The next day every single girl did the class with was shocked by how sore our muscles were. I love the challenge I get from The Girls Room! I'm not much of a dancer, and it doesn't matter. TGR is a perfect complement to my marathon training, as it gives me an incentive to work on my strength training - you definitely need core, upper body, lower back, and leg control to invert (go upside down) on the pole! Sure, you will learn how to do spins around the pole, and that's how you get your cardio in! This is totally addicting b/c the more you go, the better you get! So i live in NYC but have a few great friends that live in Dallas so i get out to visit them as much as possible. The first time i went there, the 3 of us decided to take a pole dancing class for fun. My friend had heard all about it and really wanted to try it so why not! All i can say is i have a new found appreciation for strippers...IT IS NOT EASY! On top of it, they make it look so graceful and beautiful which is something i could not accomplish after an hour. The teacher was awesome and really made all of us feel comfortable about what we were doing. The next day i was sore in places i didn't know could be sore and I loved it! It's such a fun class to take with friends, it's a great workout and it really makes you feel so empowered and sexy as a female. The main room very clean, kept pretty cool (because you DO work up a sweat) and dimly lit to get everyone in the mood to dance! I'd definitely recommend TGR for a fun, sexy bachelorette party -- it definitely got us pumped up to go out dancing afterwards! The only thing was it was a bit hard to find because it's kind of hidden away on Lower Greenville over by Trader Joe's...just look for the big blue door and get there early if you go at night because parking in that area can be tough! read more

What a great way to work out and find your inner tigress! I had been in a work out slump for nearly a year when I discovered The Girls Room and man! did I make a fitness come back! Most people hear "pole dancing" and associate it with strip teasing, etc but it's not that way at all. It's a sexy way to get a great work out... the instructors are encouraging and supportive. You learn about the importance of muscle control and developing core strength and more importantly, you learn self-confidence and the strength in being a woman. Like another woman said, pole tricks are not easy and I gained a new respect for pole dancers. I think my core ached (in a good way) for days after a Rockin' Pole class. Even if you think you "can't" do it, it is definitely worth trying once and proving yourself wrong. I have been coming to Extend since December 2016. I started out as a complete newbie with no upper body strength or aerial experience, but after my first pole class, I was hooked! I have gained so much strength and confidence, and gained so many friends along the way. I mostly do pole, but I also discovered lyra/aerial hoop through EFS and I love practicing that as well. I love all of the instructors at the studio, and you can tell they all want you to succeed in your goals. There is a good balance of styles between the instructors, so if you enjoy certain types of dance/training over others, I recommend trying classes from several people as they all bring something different to the table. read more

I am sore all over as I type this and my wrists have some wicked pole burns from class that make it mildly difficult to type without remembering that pole fitness kicked my ass the night before. Normally for some sort of flexibility fitness classes, I'll forgo beginner classes and attempt the slightly more advanced class. However since some girlfriends that had warned me that pole fitness would royally kick my ass, I thought it'd be a safe bet to stick with the beginner classes just to test out the waters. I am very grateful that I did because if I had tried going to any other class, I would have been a sitting duck. Even in the beginner classes, there were girls who have been doing this for significantly longer than I had. It can be a little intimidating but the environment in the room is pretty relaxed. Remember, back in the day, those girls doing tricks now were falling on their ass just as much as you are (as much as I was but you get the general idea). Pole fitness is a whole body workout. Parts of my core that I forgot existed are sore as heck this morning. Class was fun and the instructors, despite trying to keep the class going at a pace that you may fall behind, does indeed keep a keen eye on all her students to keep everything going smoothly. You will get called out if you don't point your toes (for those of you who did drill team, think of coach yelling at you to point whenever you did a kick line). I fell on my ass A LOT. There were a few moments during class where I felt like a bad ass sexy bitch kicking ass and taking names. Like being able to move around the floor using the pole and swinging around like a monkey, F yeah. For all the other tricks, I was just awkwardly flopping around. This is an AWESOME way to workout and it doesn't feel like a workout where you're just gazing off into the emptiness of a mini TV screen while being a cardio bunny. I definitely will be returning because I really want to get over my fear of the pole. The pole is your friend. Hug the pole. read more

This is for the ladies. This is the best place to get your body and mind in shape. The workouts are based on striptease, pole dancing, burlesque, belly dancing and yoga. They offer special classes like lapdance and private parties. The instructors are fun and you get a mixed crowd of ladies. Members are all ages, all backgrounds and this is WOMEN ONLY so there's no fear in putting on a show. You're encouraged to get into it. This place will help you get in great shape (think Pilates) and it's the kind of good clean fun you can have that everyone thinks you're not supposed to have. Don't worry, clothes stay on and you can wear what makes you comfortable. Short skirts and long heels are not required but the aren't discouraged either. ;-) read more

These guys advertized their massage on Groupon and did not specify it was only for women. My wife got a coupon for both of us. When I set up an appointment and showed up at their door the masseuse Kalina Storm was running late. On calling her she shamelessly asks me to cancel my appointment and reschedule it some other time. Her reason was she has other appointments backed up and would not be able to give me an hrs worth of massage. Sure I am not as important as her other clients. Sure I have all the time in the world to show up as per her whims and fancies! Not professional at all. Bad webpage design and really really bad advertizing skills! Wow... Just one workshop and I am in love. The Girls Room offers pole dance, striptease, lap dance classes among other fun-filled workout classes. It goes without saying that this is a really fun way to work out your body. But what amazed me the most was the psychological effect of those classes.
