B o u g i e. That's what this place is, they know it too. That isn't bad because there should be sneaker/fashion shops like this in a city like NYC. It's a crime that there aren't more because these are the kinds of shops that the super rich, fashion forward, average Joe (with $$$), and shoe fiend all can intersec. Hip-hop is blaring, $500 sneakers adorn the walls, kush candles are burning, $300 street gear is ripe to be picked off of the hangers and purchased. It's the mecca of 'cool' in the store. The staff are also very friendly and helpful too; I suppose dealing with the kind of people that actually drop this kind of money would condition you to putting on a good face. I won a sneaker draw online for two pairs of shoes and had my credit card automatically charged. No big deal as I guess that's their system. However, I called the next day to see if they could combine my shipping for the two pairs. It doesn't make sense to charge a customer $15x2 ($30) for two pairs when they are being shipped at the same time and going to the same place. After calling the store, the employee just said to send an email as there is nothing they can do at that level. So, I sent an email but so my received a generic response that someone would reach out the same business day. I never received a response, so I reached out via Instagram. STILL, no response and both $15 shipping charges remain on my credit card. I'll give them two stars only because the (store) employees were helpful when I called. Nonetheless, they back office/off-site customer service is GARBAGE! If I could cancel my order I would. I'm not even sure the shoes will arrive. I recently ordered a pair of shoes that shipped fast . However after 8 days the tracking did not update . I was inquiring with dhl after 3 business days just to get an update and they told em to contact the seller . Now I also recieved 2 tracking numbers for my item . Long story short I was in contact with them thrupught the process and I didn't even get an answer to one question I asked until my 7th email . Then they promptly refunded my.order and said dhl lost my.package .....however dhl tells me.they never recieved the package the table was just created . In light of all of this I asked the shop to hold the last of my.size in the shoes I had purchased so I could re buy them when my refund comes thru ( keep in mind they declined to just replace the product which is ridiculous). Purchasing a shoe for my grandson which he loves dearly but on the payment confirmation I cannot proceed. With many sneaker shops either closing down or just plain turning wack - great to see another world-class sneaker store open up in the LES. Extra Butter's original location is in Rockville Centre (which I've never visited) but with their recent successes, i.e. the Kill Bill x Asics collaboration which had the sneaker blogs going nuts, they expanded into Manhattan. If you haven't figured it out, the theme of the store is movies and you can easily mistake the storefront display for a theatre production company. Some of their house brand prints are sick. You can expect to find many of the kicks that many other shops carry around in a city like NYC, but the difference is service. While joints like Kith can offer you similar heat and quite a bit of attitude, the guys at Extra Butter are extremely nice and they carry some great gear to match your kicks. After shooting the shit for a while (and me being able to complain slightly about how hard it is to get their merchandise in Canada), the staff polled me to get my opinion on some of their recent designs. It's great to see a sneaker boutique pay close attention to customer opinion - rather than the 'holier than thou' attitude some sneaker/streetwear giants in town have. It's a tough choice for me if Goliath or Extra Butter is my favourite NYC sneakershop - but Extra Butter has a slight edge being in LES - which is close to many other boutiques and food options. read more

I was really surprised at the selection of kicks here. I walked in expecting to see a few rare foams and Asics, but they had everything that's hot, including a lot of hard to find exclusives like the Pool Blue 998's, The Puma Disc's, Asics Gel Lyte 5's and the Moss Green Agassi Challenge Tech's. All shoes that I have been looking for online forever and haven't had any luck finding aside from ebay. What was more surprising was their prices. Nothing was really priced over $200 and the majority of the kicks I mentioned above were a good $30-$50 less than what I would have expected to pay elsewhere. The sales floor is nicely laid out and very large for a lower Manhattan boutique sneaker store. By far the best one in the city. No, they might not have any Ronnie Fieg exclusives like Kith, or specialty SB's like Supreme or Dave's Quality Meat, but they got heat. This is great store with a surprisingly large retail stock, and their prices are right on the money. I will be back once my sneaker budget is replenished in a few weeks. read more

This place is dope. Shoe selection is on point (but then again, I'm a retired sneakerhead), fitteds and hats are literally works of art, and the menswear is unique, creative, and fashion forward - all without being feeling forced/pretentious. It still feels very "real", if you know what I mean. The store is bright and the employees are friendly and quick. Literally, they are so accommodating that one who had a broken leg I believe (who still, bless his heart, came to work for some reason) hopped up to hobble over to the back to see if they had a certain size for me, although this would've required him to go up the stair/lip they have in the store (you can see this in "photos"). I stopped him, told him it was okay, and then had a different employee check for him/me. If that ain't service, I don't know what is! Love this spot. Will DEFINITELY be back. read more

I really like the current layout of store in which you can enter the store from either Orchard or Allen St but unfortunately that's where all the fun ends. Me and a group of friends have entered raffles for limited sneakers for a few years now and none of us has ever won. These raffles have been in store sign ups with the exception of the last one, so the number of entrants is never that great. If they were running legit raffles, it's highly unlikely that none of my friends or I have ever won. I don't think I will ever be making a purchase at this store again. read more

I placed an order online, confirmation email, and quickly after was canceled. Apparently the sale was "deemed too risky". I inquired and did hear back soon saying it happens with mismatched client info, or card numbers, or ip addresses and so on. Keep in mind I had matching card and shipping info (exact) verified credit card with my name and security code, and security enabled home wifi and yet it was "deemed too risky". So I tried again after verifying my payment info through SHOP which is their affiliated company for orders, and yet still gets canceled because "deemed too risky". Just take down your website and stick to in person sales. Or say "we only take paypal". Simple. What a nightmare. Just wanted to buy shoes for retail, put money in their pockets.
