I unexpectedly needed a few additional items boxed on moving day, and they handled everything without hesitation. Every item was packed and transported with great care. Nothing was broken, damaged, or missing. The move into my new space was just as smooth as the move out of my old one. They carefully followed all of the building's rules for elevator use, placed furniture exactly where I requested, and neatly stacked boxes in the appropriate rooms. What impressed me most was their professionalism and attention to detail. They communicated clearly throughout the process, regularly checked to make sure I didn't have any questions, and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right. Before leaving, they removed all of the packing materials they had used and left both my old and new homes clean and tidy. The entire move stayed on schedule and was remarkably efficient. I honestly could not have been happier with how smoothly everything went. I want to provide enough context so anyone considering Solidarity Movers can make an informed decision. Overall, this was one of the better moves I've had, but not one that warrants the 5-star reviews I see here. My husband and I moved from MA to NY due to family circumstances. The move was already stressful before it began, which is relevant because Solidarity was recommended by a friend who had a great experience with them. Given some poor experiences I've had with movers in the past, I felt confident choosing them. Unfortunately, things started off rocky. I completed a video walkthrough, received an initial quote, and then requested a revision. After that, communication stalled. Multiple follow-ups went unanswered, and I couldn't even get confirmation that my request was being worked on. After about a day of silence while other companies were responding consistently, I was ready to book elsewhere and left a review reflecting my experience. Within minutes, owner Zak called me. He was understanding, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my concerns. Communication improved immediately, I received the revised quote, and their pricing felt fair, so I booked the move. A couple of weeks before the move, I reached out to confirm everything was still on track and asked about payment. I was told, in writing by Mike, that the remaining balance would be due "upon completion of your move." To me, that clearly meant after delivery. The move was scheduled for June 19 with overnight delivery on June 20. The crew was originally expected between 12 PM and 2 PM but arrived around 4 PM due to traffic. Traffic happens, and I had no issue with the delay itself. The crew was polite, worked efficiently, and seemed to handle our belongings with care. Unfortunately, this is where my experience started to decline. While packing, I overheard two crew members make a joke about my husband and me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was disappointing to become the subject of a gay joke, especially from a company that publicly projects queer allyship. I chose not to make an issue of it, but another customer may have felt differently. Once loading was complete, the foreman informed me that the remaining balance was due immediately. This directly contradicted the written communication I had received. When I raised the issue, Mike acknowledged there had been a miscommunication but insisted I still had to pay on the spot. What made the interaction frustrating was how dismissive he came across. He stated this was standard procedure and said he would investigate the miscommunication, but unless there is another Mike, the miscommunication originated with him. Rather than create additional stress for myself, I paid the balance and moved on. To be clear, I still tipped the crew generously because they worked hard. By the end of the move, they had received $1,200 total in gratuity, or $400 per mover. The next day, delivery was delayed again due to traffic, but the unloading process itself was quick and organized. The crew followed instructions, reassembled our storage bed, and got everything into the house efficiently. After unloading, I was asked to sign paperwork stating everything had been delivered without damage. This struck me as odd because we hadn't unpacked a single box yet, so there was no realistic way to verify that. Like many people at the end of a move, I signed because I was exhausted and just wanted the process finished. While unpacking later, I discovered our $1,500 credenza had been damaged. Two interior shelves were broken, one completely split in half. Several glass items were also broken in transit. Nothing irreplaceable, but damage nonetheless. Could I file a claim? Sure. But after an already stressful interstate move, I don't have the time or energy to go through another lengthy process. Instead, I'm leaving this review so others can make an informed decision. Despite everything, I would still consider recommending Solidarity Movers, especially for a local move. The crew worked hard, and this was far from the worst moving experience I've had. However, the communication issues, payment confusion, dismissive handling of that confusion, inappropriate comment, and damage to our belongings prevent me from rating the experience higher. If you're reading reviews because you're planning a move and trying to make the best decision possible, I hope this helps. Wishing you the best of luck!

One of the kitchen packers opens lid of my spice box (I had leaves and chillies puts his nose in sniffs and asks what is it? 3. Packed every little thing in white wrapper so unpacking was hell. LASTLY we were given pricing we paid that by bill and paid $800 extra over that without receipt as they demanded that they packed box. When vector gave me a quote it included 10 medium boxes $20 per box but the guys packed everything with white wrapper in kitten not one but 4 sheets and increased boxes packed to 30 , unethically charging us for small boxes stuffed with white paper. Please note it was a very painful experience and no one deserves this kind of billing or nonsense

They made a potentially complicated and messy move--with two pick-up locations prior to the final destination--seamless. It constantly amazes me how these strong guys can lift and navigate massive furniture--yet the same guys also delicately pack china and glassware. I had more than 150 boxes and there was not one broken item. Not one lost item. I trust them 100%. As far as the back story, since it had been several years since I moved, I decided to get more than one estimate. I knew I would have Big John's come over to provide an estimate, but some review-searching led me to some new players in moving. One of them had almost all 5-star reviews, which in retrospect is hard for anyone to pull off. Big John's came in and gave me an estimate and told me it would be a 2-day move. I then had the second moving company (the one with almost all 5-star reviews) come over. Their estimate was nearly half the cost of Big John's and they said they would do it in 1 day and with only 3 workers. I have had at least 4 or 5 people move me for years. Oftentimes it is 6 or 7 people. I mentioned this to the moving company representative more than once. I even said "I don't mind paying extra for another person." That is the truth. I would rather pay more and have an efficient and good move as opposed to a situation where the movers get exhausted halfway through the day. He told me their philosophy is that "any more than 3 people bump into each other." I have never witnessed movers bumping into each other before and I was skeptical. (It is clear to me now that their revenue model depends on having as few people as possible perform the moving job.) But I was blinded by the low estimate so I verbally agreed to hire them. When I told Big John's I was not using them, they called me back right away and were very professional but wanted to know why. I told them what I had been told by the second mover and Big john's said "you have really nice stuff, you know how careful we are." True. He also told me about some potential problems they could encounter on the road insofar as trucking laws. I also thought to myself that I did not want to be in a situation where three guys from the new moving company were coming to my place at 8am and unloading the truck at my new place at 11pm. That was a very real possibility. That was enough. I came to my senses and I hired Big John's. I later realized that the second mover was a very good salesperson--he had lots of emotional intelligence and came across as warm and caring and said all the right things--but there were far too many things that could go wrong. I reviewed the various email and texts and paper estimate and saw there were a lot of gray areas and contradictions in what I was being promised. After I cancelled with the second mover (almost three weeks before the actual move date) he started to show his true colors: he began calling, texting and emailing me repeatedly over several days. Managing his drama significantly added to my pre-move stress. I wish he had just bowed out gracefully. Instead, he was telling me about all the extra people he would bring in to move me (so much for his "3 people" philosophy) and how he would do the move "in 2 days, too," If I wanted. He would not let go of it. He kept behaving as if I had not cancelled. Even after I emailed him to re-state that I was cancelling, he kept going. He seemed perplexed that I would want to pay more for another mover. He never grasped the concept that I would be paying more for more...more services and for a company I have used a half a dozen time in the past. Not to mention a company that treats its workers well and does not expect them to work 12-14 hour days. On the day of the move, I was happy to see two guys I had used in the past, including the foreman. I really like the way Big John's has clear delineations of roles: there is a chief/foreman (who knows how to manage people), there are the guys who move the boxes, the guys who are great packers, the guys who wrap furniture, the guys who handle the tricky stuff (like my grandfather clock), the guy who tracks all / keeps inventory, and the guy who arranges and rearranges the truck as needed. This is why they don't "bump into each other." I see no reason for me to ever not use Big John's again. I mentioned this in my older review, but it is a rare thing when I enjoy paying a bill. But moving is so important and Big John's is so good, they make it worth it!

They explained my responsibilities and what I was signing for and the potential cost. I was on my way in no time. The truck was very clean and drove very nicely back and forth from SI to NJ. It was 15 foot truck which for my washer and dryer, shoe collection, clothes collection and book collection as well as all my cleaners, vacuum cleaner, mops, suit cases and paperwork and a filing cabinet perfectly! When I got back they filled up my truck again so helpful as I was hesitant to back up the truck. As a woman you think can I drive a truck and move my stuff and with a little help from my brother in law I did it! The cost was $200 for renting of truck, the two dolly's, gas and tolls for 5.5 hours which was great price and so worth it! This was a five star experience! I highly recommend renting your uhaul from this location!

Scott helped my husband and I plan our move out of State with no detail spared. He was attentive to our concerns and came up with the best plan to tackle the move. Scott helped me pack extra delicate items with care and such professionalism. The crew was on time, polite and careful. All our furniture was carefully wrapped. They are extremely hard working and work so well together that what seems as the impossible for the customer becomes possible once the crew gets to work. They had a strategic plan to get the boxes out then tackle the furniture- like pieces to a puzzle. Verrazano did a move for my son on April 18, 2019. It started at my son's storage unit on Staten Island, then to a 4th floor walk up on the Upper East Side of Manhattan to an elevated building also on the Upper East Side. From the first call to coordinate the move, to getting the Certificates of Insurance, to the actual move itself, everything went perfectly. They wrapped every piece of furniture, and were very careful in the handling of everything they moved. We had used another mover two years ago, and had a horrible experience. Bottom line is that you pay for what you get. We were grateful that we had a much better experience with Verrazano. read more

Moving Zone either lost or stole (I have no way of knowing which, but I do know that boxes don't…read moredisappear) over $2,800 of my property during our cross-country move. I noticed that boxes were missing within 2 hours of their truck leaving my home for the drop-off. Instead of turning the truck around to come back to my house to finish the drop-off, I was told they would come back on their next trip. They never did. After months of back and forth, excuses, and delays, they offered me less than $30 as compensation for the items they lost or stole. So, in short, if you use Moving Zone, you are effectively giving them an option to either deliver your property or to not deliver it and give you 6 cents per pound of property.

Even though one of them reeked of booze, the crew of four managed to drive from Westchester to the Bronx to Long Island without a scratch. Most of them don't speak fluent English unfortunately, but they do speak the language of moving, assembling, and Russian. They handle their jobs with accurate precision and knowledge, just as long as they have a bottle in the truck (I even saw one of them swigging one during their ten minute break). They are a very sociable bunch - everybody kept a good attitude despite the heat and the weight they had to lug up three floors into a narrow apartment. They assembled my bedroom with haste and upon my command. It took them about eight hours to complete a two stop journey involving two peoples' furniture across three counties. We tipped them a good amount of cash (40$ each and a bottle of Jack) and they left happily. They don't get paid much by their company, but they sure as hell know how to do a moving job with speed and efficiency.
