On October 5, 2024, I entered my climate-controlled storage unit and was immediately struck by an unusual and unpleasant odor. The unit was also much hotter than expected. Upon opening my unit, I was shocked to discover mold covering my items--this in a space that was specifically advertised as climate-controlled. After researching reviews, I discovered that Public Storage was aware of this issue as early as August 31st, yet there was no communication or warning provided to tenants. When I reached out to your team, I was informed that Public Storage is only obligated to notify tenants in the event of a break-in. While your representative emphasized the "store at your own risk" policy and advised me to file a claim through insurance, this approach entirely overlooks the severity of the situation. This is not simply a matter of financial loss--there are significant health risks associated with exposure to mold and fungi. Both my family and I, along with other tenants, unknowingly entered this hazardous environment, and some may have even taken contaminated items home, further increasing exposure risks. The health and safety of your customers should not be disregarded in favor of policy adherence or profit. I understand that businesses need to be profitable, but it is unacceptable to allow customers' personal, often priceless, items to be destroyed through negligence, and then to put their health at risk. While I was informed that I can file a claim for $250 with a $100 deductible, I find this offer inadequate. This issue was preventable, and your company should take responsibility for the damages caused, rather than passing the burden onto tenants. I have already consulted with climate control and restoration experts, and I expect a clear response outlining your company's immediate plan of action. We cannot move our belongings to another facility without potentially exposing other locations and individuals to contamination, further complicating this matter. This letter is just a summary of my concerns, but I expect a prompt and appropriate response from your end. Please let me know how you intend to address this issue as soon as possible. The majority of their reviews are positive because they solicit them when you move in. I know because I removed mine to write this truth about my experience. Go online look at reviews, YouTube, and search Facebook. You could lose your whole life to be told go claim your $250 mold insurance. #BEWARE These pictures don't even do it justice. No, seriously. You look at either the reviews here on Yelp for the two locations, or the 100+ reviews they have for the two locations on Google, and the skeptic in me thinks, "nah.. there's something wrong here, they paid an SEO team to write these..." or something. Yeah... no. It really is as good as reviews say it is. And it all starts with one man: Kurt. If you read the reviews, you'll see Kurt's name a lot. He makes it a personalized experience. Did I really just use the word "experience" in a storage rental Yelp review? Well, yeah. Kurt just takes the storage experience to a whole different level. Kurt and his team get to know you and your business (or if you're renting just to have some extra space, he gets to know you personally) and persistently makes sure what his business is offering is what's best for you. Some highlights for me? Well for one, the prices they offer are better than anyone around. Hell, they're better than storage prices you'd find 80 miles outside of Charlotte. The move to keep it stored for me was more convenient than my prior parking spot (I park a trailer there). The parking spot itself was bigger and in a much more convenient format (it's a spot parallel to the curb, but it's so big, I can pull the trailer right in, and pull straight out upon arrival/departure). You even have access to an app that can open the gate for you when you're within a block of the storage center. 24/7 access is available for a very small fee (it was 5 times the fee I was paying at my prior facility for 24/7 access) and everything is imaculate. I really wish Kurt would also go into the restaurant industry, or maybe insurance, retail, package delivery maybe? At most, I'll settle for him and his team just staying where they are as the best storage solution I could have ever asked for. Believe the reviews, you're going to be very happy here.

Note: insurance is required - you either have to bring evidence of your own coverage or they will sign you up for the option they offer. The facility is clean and easy enough to navigate. My one complaint is that the elevators can be sketchy. I stopped by on a Sunday to take one load to my unit. It should have taken 15 minutes but it took 35 because one of the two elevators was down and the functioning one had a glitch and took forever to close. It was frustrating and there was no manager on site as it was a Sunday. A couple was there moving their items in and kept asking me how to get the elevator to work because they had the same problem. Not worth switching to another location but still annoying. Management: if you read this, please fix the elevators!

The staff are professional and courteous. No other complaints at this time. 3/31/2023 We have been customers at this location for 13 years. My Wife had called to get prices for a bigger unit and we end up getting a double the size of our previous unit for a cheaper price. The top floor is not climate control, but you don't need it to be because in my opinion it is not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. It is always pretty clean in the facility. They have motion lights that work well. Nicole is awesome.
