I was not familiar with this Uhaul location but its literally less than 5 minutes from where I will be staying. When I walked in I was greeted by JULIE who was at the service desk. As well as returning the trailer I also needed storage. Uhaul offered 1 free month of storage with my oneway rental (straight forward no strings attached) which was awesome! JULIE first set me up with my storage space and showed me the unit. She got me all checked in quickly and courteously. I had a spill in the trailer and told her after I emptied it would leave, wash it out and come back. She told me I could use their cleaning supplies and water hose, which even though I was staying so close, would save me a lot of aggravation. Pulling this trailer around, backing it up, turning etc, you have to be careful. So that was so convenient after having to unload a full trailer, by myself, in that heat! When I started unloading my things I realized the space I chose would be too small. I went back to JULIE who stopped what she was doing and made the change for me, still smiling, still genuinely courteous! She made the whole thing such an easy and pleasant experience! She really exemplifies "customer service", is friendly and a person any company would want to have as the face of their business! They just left me hanging in the middle of the move. When I called the owner, Evan, he said that should not have happened and he would come out the next day to help move but he never showed. And on day 2 he STILL only sent 2 men and 1 truck. After several hours 2 other men showed up. After 18 frustrating hours, I cancelled the rest of the move and rescheduled with a different moving company. The owner said he was having personal problems and that was why the move went this way. He also was defensive about only sending one truck the second day, stating well I was the one who told you to go with 2 trucks.

The move was local--just 1.1 miles from one 4-bedroom home to another. A week before the move, I received a confirmation email and even called the company with a question. They answered promptly, and everything seemed in order. Then, 20 minutes before the scheduled move time on August 2nd, I got a call saying they couldn't come. Their reason? One of their two drivers quit, and they had no one to operate their non-CDL 26-ft trucks. I was told the earliest they could move me was Monday, August 4th. I made it clear that I had to be out of my house by Sunday, August 3rd, and waiting until Monday was not an option. I asked for alternatives--a late Saturday move, a Sunday move, a discount, a referral to another provider--anything. The manager told me, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do," and only offered to return my deposit. It took nearly 72 hours for a confirmation email to be sent that my deposit was refunded and that was only after I emailed the business and requested it . Because of their last-minute cancellation, my wife and I had to move every box ourselves in a Ford Edge and a Nissan Altima. It took us 8 hours in the summer heat with no help. We still had to hire last-minute movers for the following day to move the large items that we were unable to fit in our cars. Upon inspecting my belongings, I discovered that my items had not been properly padded or secured during transport. Specifically, the dining room table base has substantial holes on two sides. Additionally, a wood sofa table fell apart during the move. It appeared that an unsuccessful and undisclosed attempt was made to repair the table before I saw it, which I find purposefully deceitful. The crew failed to disclose any of this damage until I pointed it out myself.
