**Caution to Future Customers**…read more I have previously used 2 Men and a Truck on three occasions, but my most recent experience was incredibly disappointing and far from the quality of service I once received. The team that handled my move appeared poorly trained and unprepared. I don't know of anywhere in the DFW metroplex that takes two hours to arrive, yet my move clock started at 8 AM, and they didn't show up to my condo until 9:58 AM. Upon their arrival, they disregarded the guidance provided by the building loadmaster, leading to numerous issues. My furniture was not wrapped properly or protected with blankets, which is standard practice for moving. They also failed to follow building rules by neglecting to line the floors with blankets or protect the walls while moving in and out of the condo and elevators, despite having signed documents acknowledging these standard operating procedures. Additionally, the movers carelessly transported items downstairs to the basement, leaning them against the walls without any padding. For instance, my television was placed directly against the wall, exposing it to potential damage. A move that should have taken no more than four hours ended up taking seven, and I was confronted with attempted upcharges, which I ultimately refused. After this distressing experience, I filed a claim but have faced nothing but frustration as their leadership has given me the runaround. I provided them with photos documenting the situation and have expressed that I have nothing further to add. Their management is aware that they packed my furniture for storage but has done nothing to address these issues. In my opinion, if a customer demonstrates that their equipment was not safely packed--and that a $4,000 TV and $6,000 worth of beds were treated carelessly--any responsible company would be eager to resolve the matter. Pricing is very good and the movers do an awesome job! They work together great as a team, are safe about the way that they handle our items and have been trained to professionally pick up the items so that they don't get injured. The driver of the moving truck ran into the roof of the carport. The accident tore the trim of the roof. I filed a claim with bellhop because the complex was asking that I repair the damage. Because I was not the driver, i Asked that they pay via their liability insurance. This company s covered for such mishaps. this occurred on June 27, 2023. This company has not responded to my claim. Their insurance provider has not responded. As such, I ended up having to pay $850.00 to pay for the damage. I have filed a claim with the BBB in an attempt to get reimbursed for costs. If you use this company, just know if there is damage created by their employees, they will not accept responsibilities and pay for their damages. They were recommended by our realtor who till then had been on point with her referring. After the move I found out they had broken so much stuff it was unbelievable! I am STILL finding broken things that they hide from us during the move! While the main guy was very nice, it in no way makes up for the literally thousands of dollars of broken things I will have to replace thanks to their terrible moving practices! My review of Hometown Movers is really two-part. First, the…read moregood: These two guys were very careful with our stuff, and we have some very old antique heirloom furniture. Nothing had a scratch! Austin and Connor both worked extremely hard and were very personable, professional, and courteous. Now the bad: Even after taking a quick visual inventory of all our stuff, they thought they could move us in 4-5 hours. It took 9. At 4:40pm, Austin said that they needed to have the last load packed and ready to move to the new house (it took two trips) by 5:00pm so he said that we would need to "prioritize" the last remaining stuff. The reason was that they had another move to do after ours. Not good planning on their part. So, we had to move most of the stuff from my workshop and lawn equipment shed in addition to grandchildrens' play stuff. We also had numerous large pot plants and a lot of stuff from my attic as well. Thankfully, friends came over to help and we were still barely out by the 12:00 midnight deadline. Another negative was that we were not told about their one-hour charge for "travel time". That was an additional $200 just for them to GET HERE, so that was just money wasted for me. So, the move that we were expecting to cost us around $1,000-$1,200 tops ended up being over $2,000. Again, everything that THEY moved was done professionally and they were pleasant to work with. It's just that for $2,000 I would have expected them to finish the job. If not for our friends and relatives rallying around us, there is no possible way we could have been out in time. I would say that if you know EVERYTHING up front and they don't try to cram another move in afterward, they are fine. Had I known that they would impose an unspoken deadline, I would have looked elsewhere.
