That being said, my experience has left a bad taste in my mouth after receiving a small postcard 4 months after move-in notifying me that the monthly storage free was going to DOUBLE next month! Obviously they have the right to operate that way, but it is not customer friendly and is just bad business. I've had storage units with Extra Space at multiple locations on and off for 10+ years now. Extra Space has always increased rent by a noticeable amount, but in the past they occurred once or twice a year and were a fraction of the amount. Alternatively, I had a storage unit at Public Storage before relocating and received one small rate increase over a year or two.
