During a previous encounter, a former student of mine attempted to rent a storage unit from Extra Storage. I remained in the car while she attempted to open an account, but was later asked to provide my driver's license when I entered the office. I explained to Richard that I did not want to be involved in the rental agreement, and he assured me that I would not be held responsible since the credit card on file belonged to the former student. However, several months later I received a bill for the storage unit. When I contacted Richard, he told me that I was responsible for the payments since I had provided my driver's license at the time of rental. Despite my objections, the unit was not closed until payment was made, and the items in the unit were sold at auction without my knowledge. Although the debt collection letter did not include the former student's name, Extra Storage considered me to be the rightful owner of the unit since it was opened using my driver's license. As a result, I am now responsible for paying the creditors for a storage unit that I did not rent. The creditors themselves acknowledged that Richard could have handled the situation differently, such as suggesting that the former student return to rent the unit using their own driver's license at a later date. Overall, this experience has been frustrating and disappointing. read more

I have mixed feelings about renting a unit from this location. Michael, the main manager is extremely nice, but I feel I was told misinformation and it caused my rent to go up. He told me if you pay Atleast 30 days in advance it wouldn't go up since they need to give you Atleast 30 days notice to increase. So I had been paying 2 months in advance to try to avoid that. Only to find out that really you need to pay a year in advance in order to avoid that . It put a bad taste in my mouth seeing it go up, as if I was told to pay a year in advance I would have to avoid paying more. I called the facility, I cannot recall who I spoke with, it was not Michael, and he was very rude! I explained my situation and he said he would write to the district to have them request to lower it back down. He stated on the phone as he was typing "customer does not want to pay the increase" which is not what happened, and I pretty much instantly got declined. He then went on to say that I have a good rate and that the rates are higher for those units and I asked what is it and he goes to look, only for the units to actually be $30 cheaper then what I was paying, so in that case he just made himself look really dumb. Once I was off the phone with him I contacted extra space and they told me that someone would be calling me Monday from the district to discuss the issue. No one called Monday or Tuesday so I was just festering with the poor customer service and decided I would rather pay more money to move out then deal with them anymore. A women ended up finally calling me on Thursday but at that point it was too late as I started to already move out. I worked in customer service for years and just feel that this company really doesn't have it together as a whole when it comes to that. They lost a customer over a $10 increase! Yes I argued over that, and even said if you decrease it now I'd pay the year. The lady on Thursday would have lowered it but at that point I was done. read more

We put our one bedroom apartment in this storage facility 2 years ago and I was blown away by the customer service. Rick was so nice and helpful and the rate was great. This was our first time using a storage facility so I was really impressed. UNTIL WE GET A RATE INCREASE OF $60 3 MONTHS LATER!!!!!! I get it, these facilities need to make money but I felt duped and swindled. This October will be two years we've had our belongings there and our rate has gone from $100 to $215!!! How is this legal?? I closed our account and am moving our stuff to a new facility at the end of the month. Hopefully we'll save some money in the long run. It's just sad- greed and profits always winning out over honesty and genuine customer service. Bottom line: Rent somewhere else and read the fine print. read more

I really appreciated how Michael was able to arrange a unit for me last minute. I had gone back and forth about needing a unit over a period of weeks and as it became apparent that I would not be able to fit all my stuff in our new place. He was able to get me set up last minute. He and Piya are very friendly and helpful offering advice on discounts with partnering van rental companies. I see him walking the property multiple times a day. Doors and gates are working well and the drive and hallways are clean and swept. I like the digital point of sale although using one screen is a little clunky. Do not forget to take a COMPLETE copy of your homeowner's policy with you. You will need to show them the EXACT WORDING that says you have coverage for your belongings in a storage unit!! If you don't you will be required to buy their coverage until you provide that documentation. Then when you do provide that documentation, you will spend another 4 emails trying to turn off their coverage and get a refund. On this transaction I bought the company insurance Coverage because my house was being sold and my Homeowners policy would be ending. However, on a previous experience at this facility with a different manager, I had my agent call them but they wanted to see the exact wording in the policy documents. I feel the sales pitch for their insurance way too aggressive. I just kept thinking this was like being at a time share sales pitch in Mexico. Once you say no, the smiles go away, the faces go dark and the policy and procedure comes out with dramatic examples and claims of how competitive the insurance rate is. Having your insurance agent call them is not enough and referring to the major policy carrier's policy is not enough. This is particularly disappointing since the Allstate Deluxe Homeowner's product is the same thing for everyone who had the policy. If the customer before me has that policy and is covered then I am too. There is no need to see the wording in the policy every time someone shows proof of insurance. With their experience in this area proof of insurance should be enough. read more

Generally good experience. Location is easily accessed and the facility is in good condition. Price, however, is a bit too steep to remain competitive. On the other hand, customer service is excellent!
