I stored my belongings at the Newportmesa Extra storage location on Bristol St in Costa Mesa. I stored my property here for a year and a half in B-297. Everything was fine until the recent rains when the roof (EXTRA STORAGES ROOF) leaked and damaged my property. Per the property manager (Mary), this is my responsibility (my responsibility their roof leaked and damaged my property) and they will not do anything about it and I need to contact MY insurance company. I contacted corporate and left a message on the area managers voicemail and have yet to receive a call back. If you are thinking about using this facility, "DO NOT"! I paid monthly my storage fees and this is the outcome. read more

I needed a last minute unit and Rachel was the biggest help! She got me set up quickly, was so kind, and made sure the process was simple and smooth. The whole front office has a great vibe - it felt like I was dropping things off at a friends place! Rachel personally walked me around the property as she explained the basics, and took extra time to help me set up and answer any questions I had. 10/10! The facility is spacious, clean, and organized well. Yelp: please add a zero star option. Thanks. I have nothing nice to say about this storage facility. My boyfriend needed a unit by his mom's house who had a free truck ASAP to get his stuff out of her garage as she was moving. Unfortunately he chose this place. I have been a self storage manager for 12 years and have worked at 4 different companies... so needless to say I know the customers rights but I also know what good customer service looks like... and I did not see that here. They put crazy rules like "you can only spend 2 hours a day in your unit" WTF? In 12 years I never heard ANY FACILITY say that. This is unreasonable and the lady there harassed my boyfriend several times because he was trying to organize his stuff (remember he had to move in a hurry and didn't have time then) as long as no one is trying to live in the unit what's the problem? You don't like to work? Then... one day they were having problems with their gate opening and they left at 6 (access is until 7) they didn't go around informing the customers they needed to pack up so thinking he'd be able to exit the facility at the usual time he got locked in. Then... he wanted to move out the stuff and move it into my unit at my facility and they wouldn't even let him move out without giving a 30 notice... really? Customer service is terrible. The woman is not friendly at all ... the gentleman just listens to her like a little puppy dog. I believe they are husband and wife... so sorry for him. I can go on and on about what terrible service we experienced for the whole 3 months he stored there. If you value respect and courtesy I would suggest you stay far away from this place... there are too many competitors in OC to settle for this. read more

In this busy world where there isn't enough space for our knick knacks and lets just say additional junk, Extra Storage definitely has the storage room, a decent rental price and a nice facility. We were in utter torture from our previous storage place and decided to venture closer to home and saw Extra S. Went in, was pleasantly serviced by the nice staff and taken a tour of the storage unit and grounds. We were very confident in our decision to rent here, and the unit has treated all of our treasured items well. Perks: Units are very clean and organized. Manager (Mike) is an awesome guy! Very helpful and able to answer many questions. KNOW before you GO: If you rent, keep in mind the Gate times. Closes at 7pm sharp!! As to any rental agreement, whether leasing an apartment or even a storage unit, the laws apply for both when it comes to vacating, be sure to read the deets!! OVERall: No disappointment. I have been storing here for two years in a large basement unit. It is air-conditioned and well lit with a large elevator, carts available and parking right by the elevator door. The location is very convenient and the manager, Gina was professional and helped me select a great unit. The paint colors are kinda funky but the service and interiors are very up to date and professional. read more

I came into this storage facility to buy boxes and possibly use them for my storage needs . While still in the office , Before receiving my receipt for the almost $100.00 worth of boxes I JUST PAID FOR , I realized that I bought the wrong sizes . I brought it to the front desk ladies attention and asked if I could exchange them for bigger boxes and pay the difference . She said she would have to ask the manager , and the manager said that she could not reverse anything and that all sales are final . I was absolutely in shock and blown away . If these shady people act this way about boxes , I would definitely not trust them with your personal belongings . I realized really quick that you can buy all different types ( shapes and sizes ) of regular or heavy-duty boxes ( and bubble wrap , tape , foam wrap , cellophane wrap , etc.) at Staples for a fraction of the price that you can buy from these people !! , and there are definitely cheaper storage units in the same area . Do your due diligence and go anywhere else for all of your needs . read more

I was very pleased with Extra storage. I was in a situation where I needed a storage unit for at least one month, but not knowing the length of the stay I would need. I was doing a minor remodel and chose to store my furniture during the process. Not only, did they have a unit that was 30$ a month cheaper than the storage unit down the street, but I also was able to use their moving truck free of charge. All I had to pay was for the diesel gas I used. Secondly, they do ask for a 15 day move out notice. I was 6 days past the 15 day notice window. Instead of them charging me an extra month they only prorated me the 6 days I was over. The employees were also very nice and helpful. So yes, I would recommend this storage unit facility to anyone in the area. read more

I have an office just down the street on Newport Beach, so I decided to check out the prices for this place. On the way I stopped by two others along the way. What a difference. The stuff and girl (I believe she is the manager) was so nice. Compared to the other two places, I will definitely rent here when I am ready. In addition to a clean place, drive to unit, and friendly staff. They also have a pretty large truck for free. This is exactly what I needed. The folks at the front desk here are always extremely polite and helpful. I had some doubts as to a large piece of furniture would fit in the elevator. Gabriel was kind enough to help me measure the elevator (it will fit diagonally if I left one side) which in turned allowed me to save some $$. All in all great experience. Extra Storage-Newport Mesa is by far a superior place for storage. I cannot convey enough how well maintained and clean the facility is. Additionally, the facility managers Joe and Mary Saucedo, and particularly one employee, Corey Brannon, by far exceeds your expectations. Corey for instance, has on many occasions gone out of his way to assist me with answering questions, and assuring specific storage details. Corey is one of those true assets to Extra Storage.
