I hadn't been here in several years and was surprised with the changes. Went to this establishment for an event. The chairs were stained/dirty and service was extremely slow and the wait staff was very unfriendly. Bathroom was low on soap and for sure ran out by the end of the night. When the food was finally served it didn't taste good or fresh. Despite it being cold outside, there were flies/gnats flying around inside. I wish I would have taken a picture but when I left there appeared to be a roach crawling in the wall in the foyer. I was just ready to get out of there and left as quickly as possible. For some reason the entrance door has reflective tint on the INSIDE and when you're leaving you can't see if anyone is on the other side! Not very smart I'm sure that people have gotten smacked by the door because you can't see if someone is trying to come in while you're exiting. To top it all off they had some sort of HVAC issue that caused the fan on the roof to make a loud noise the entire night. I've been to several of these type of establishments over the years and this one by far is the worst. They've done some updates to make it visually look better but it's clear that it's a distraction from larger issues. If you don't care about cleanliness, fast service and pleasant wait staff - this is your place. If all of those things mentioned above matter to you, look elsewhere.

The food is incredible, and weeks later, our guests are STILL talking about it. There was also a bridal suite and groom room on site, which was the perfect place for us all to convene for hair and makeup during the morning of the wedding. Best of all, the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating! There's so many details that other venues told us they would charge for, that the Hellenic Cultural Center included for us, which made the process so seamless! From providing decor (like hurricane vases and plate chargers) to working with outside decorators to create the space of our dreams to having a professional serving/bar staff, the Hellenic Cultural Center had everything we needed. We can't thank them enough for making the wedding of our dreams come true! Marlee helped immensely throughout the entire process by answering our thousands of questions over email, to helping on the actual big day. She was instrumental in bringing our vision to life. We had 130 guests and 200 items up for auction. The room was great, the facility is beautiful, the food was fabulous (REALLY!!), and the staff could not have been more accommodating of all of our special set-up needs. They also kept the Mimosas flowing! We'll be there again next year on October 18, 2025, and are looking forward to another great event with the help of the Hellenic Cultural Center. It is geared towards women and nonbinary individuals and created a safe and supportive environment for them to grow their dreams and aspirations in, but it is open to any and all who want to check it out! Anyone can have access to the main floor of BasBlue, where there is an INCREDIBLE cafe to get delicious drinks and food from. There is also a ton of seating for you to enjoy your food and drink and to cowork from as well. If you want to become a member, the upper floors are open to you with more collaborative and private spaces for you to enjoy! It is a non-profit organization and just a gloriously safe and intentionally-curated space to foster creativity and amazing vibes. I always feel so at peace and centered when I'm at BasBlue and love to take meetings from here as often as I can! It's located very close to the DIA, but only open during the weekdays. There is a locker room/workout room/nursing area, but I did not see them because I am not a woman. They have lectures and groups within the club. They have a full kitchen, and the usual food on offer seemed like you would expect at a starbucks or better. They have drinks, coffee, and wine. The wine was higher end. And they use an ordering app so members at different rooms of the club can order easily. Lots of rooms. Dining and lecture rooms, lounge and club type rooms, conference rooms. A large event room. All really nice. There are smaller serving bars on the second and third floors. Depending on age, annual membership is 600 or 1200 dollars. It looked great. Maybe it could have used more restrooms, but that is sort of reaching for something negative to say.

The breeze and the water made it very comfortable even on the decks enjoying the sun. We boarded at the Jefferson Beach Marina in St. Claire Shores. The Ovation yacht is three levels of accommodations for 300 people. The event was perfect with a DJ on the top level with an open bar. The second level was the food, lounge areas, photo booth and open bar. The third level was the live band and more food. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the waterways and views of the boats plus the shorelines of both countries. A trip down the Detroit River is such a pretty sight.
