5 stars all around. The food was delicious, and plentiful and refreshed often. The desert was fabulous. Staff was really nice constantly cleaning up plates etc. The bar was top shelf, GREAT bar service. Music was good too. Wonderful evening, met some nice people, and many had done these cruises before, so seems they never disappoint, and some cruises are themed. It's Saturday! There is nothing but blue skies and white clouds for miles! Today was a high of 85 degrees which is perfect for a ride on the Ovation yacht for a few hours. The breeze and the water made it very comfortable even on the decks enjoying the sun. We boarded at the Jefferson Beach Marina in St. Claire Shores. The Ovation yacht is three levels of accommodations for 300 people. The event was perfect with a DJ on the top level with an open bar. The second level was the food, lounge areas, photo booth and open bar. The third level was the live band and more food. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the waterways and views of the boats plus the shorelines of both countries. A trip down the Detroit River is such a pretty sight. I recently attended a wedding on a yacht and it was a wonderful experience! The crew was delightful. Every person was professional, well-dressed, patient and kind. I appreciated the friendliness with all the servers and bartenders. The bathrooms were clean (and I'm guessing it the was the bride that placed the supplies in there but there was Dramamine and I was grateful!) I appreciated the multiple staircases and bars. The ride was mostly smooth. The only time I really felt it was while dancing and it wasn't a big deal at all. The food was delicious! So many options of appetizers and hors d'oeuvres, prior to the meal with multiple stations. My only critique is that I wish they had a salad option at both the beef and the chicken options, instead of just one. Not a huge inconvenience though. Servers did a great job of clearing emptying plates and glasses throughout the time aboard. I liked that we remained on time (we left when they said we would and got back when we were supposed to), and were able to stay onboard 30 minutes after docking. It was a pleasurable experience. I hope to have the opportunity to go again someday! read more

Attended a wedding aboard the Ovation Yacht this past August and it was the BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! Frankly, everyone should have their wedding on a yacht, it's so much fun!! My friends tied the knot on land right at the marina - the ceremony took literally 5 minutes and then we were boarding the boat! The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, pointing out gaps and spots we needed to step over for our safety. Ovation Yacht had 3 levels to it: the first level was the main banquet room where dinner was served, the bridal party had a giant table at the bow of the boat, which was surrounded by glass windows all around and above, so it was perfectly lit and magical! There's doors on either side of the bow to exit the enclosed banquet room area to the outside area where you can do your Titanic posing at the very tip of the yacht and get the best uninterrupted view of where the boat is heading! The banquet room was a ton of hemisphere tables (against the walls) or fully circular tables situated throughout the room with different food stations throughout. All the food was delicious and loved the variety you could get - pasta, chicken, beef - all different food stations. I'm unsure of whether or not this food was provided by the company or a separate vendor coming aboard. There were also very nice, even if a bit small - which is to be expected given that we're on a boat - bathrooms in the back, stern-side of the boat. The second level was where one of the bars was, with half the floor indoors and half outdoors. There was a staircase from the first to second floor from both the bow (indoor) and stern (outdoor) of the boat, which divided up traffic nicely. The bow was where the bar was situated, so blocked the view on the second floor, which was fine because there was never a bad view on the boat! They served snacky bits on this floor, along with the slices of the wedding cake once that was cut into. This is where some private rooms were on the boat for bridal/groom suites and the like and then the back half of the second floor was outdoor but covered awning with metal tables & chairs all around for people to sit at, along with the staircase on both the starboard and port sides up to the third and final floor! The third level was all outdoors, with the front half of it being shaded with an awning and the back half being completely exposed to the elements! Thankfully it was a beautiful weather day, bright and sunny, without being too hot even in August given that we were cruising up and down the river! There was another bar on this level (perhaps the least trafficked given its further distance) and was at the bow of the boat again under the awning. Further in front of the bar was where the crew was operating the boat from, which was completely enclosed as well. You were able to walk around to both sides of the bar, past it a bit, to get that high vantage point of what we were seeing ahead and what a beautiful view it was! The back half of the third level was open and had a few small metal tables/chairs around and a few high top tables as well to stand around, but for the most part this space was open because it was the DANCE FLOOR! There is nothing quite like getting to boogie down to the music while you're swaying a little bit this way and that on the third floor of the yacht! SO FUN! Overall, this was just absolutely delightful! The trip was so smooth and I believe we spent about four hours on the boat which departed from the marina at Saint Clair Shores and went all the way down to Detroit! The turnaround was just past the Ambassador Bridge, which meant we got to go under the bridge - TWICE - and that was truly incredible! The bride and groom had their first dance while going under the bridge and it made for some of the most spectacular photos! I do wish we could've gone down just a little further past the bridge rather than immediately turning around after we had barely cleared it just to be able to spend more time in that area, but ultimately I'm very pleased with the route they took! Parking at the marina was a breeze! I know some mentioned that earlier in the day as they were arriving, the gate to the marina wasn't open and people had to get out of their cars and walk up to the guard shack to ask them to open the gate, so that was a bit inconvenient. By the time I arrived 10-15 minutes before the wedding ceremony was set to begin, it was open and I was able to drive all the way to where I needed to be with no issue. If you're looking to valet with Infinity and Ovation Yacht Charters, you have to drive all the way to the front, which means driving by all the spots yourself. Since I was comfortable and able to hoof it a bit and saw some available spots further back in the lot, I just pulled into an available parking spot instead of driving all the way up to the valet, but that is an option and nice service they provide! When I asked management about the lack of seating I was told this was a strolling dinner cruise. This is not posted openly in plain view however it is shown in the frequently asked questions. Probably no ones fault, but with temperatures about 100 - seemed to be not enough seats in air conditioned areas. Also I felt really bad for the servers- long sleeved shirts, long pants and ties? I had a fantastic experience on the Infinity. I was on here for my brother's best friend's graduation party. I thought it was so cool that he decided to have it on a yacht! Talk about a cool graduation party. There was an open bar and we were having so much fun ordering different drinks. It was such a nice day too so we got to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. We booked a dinner cruise to the "Motown" Theme, and were profoundly disappointed with a shortage of seating, food & drink options, and music. Seating Issues: Boarding started at 6:30 PM, and my Wife and I arrived at 6:35 PM to find that there were already zero empty seats available due to the cruise being over-booked. We spoke to a manager and explained that my pregnant Wife was advised not to stand for prolonged periods of time and that we would be happy with a refund. The manager explained that refunds could not be given, but she was able to pull a couple of chairs out of a storage room for us to use. Additionally, the manager mentioned that this was advertised as a "walking cruise", and seats would continuously become available. We found out later that, though individuals do walk around a little, everyone leaves their belongings where they were seated as a way to reserve their seats. There were around 20-30 individuals standing in various areas that were never able to find a seat for the entire duration of the 2.5 hour cruise. Food and Drink Issues: Because we were preoccupied with seating for the first 15-20 minutes, we found that they had already ran out of potatoes by 6:50 PM, and thus we were only able to enjoy Meat and Salad as our main dinner course. Later, I attempted to order an "Old Fashioned" Drink, but the Bar Tender informed me that, while normally they have bitters available to make this type of drink, they were currently out. Music Issues: The cruise was advertised as "Motown Themed", however, the 2nd floor had a separate DJ that played modern pop songs which clashed with the live band. The live band generally refrained from any recognizable Motown songs until around 8:30 PM, playing mostly Bruno Mars and The Cupid Shuffle. In total, the band only played for approximately 1 hour, and played maybe 4 or 5 Motown Classics during that time. All in all, this could have been a very enjoyable cruise experience that instead ended up feeling like a crowded barge chalked full of annoyances. read more

Just had my wedding with them. So much went wrong. Let's start from the beginning. We booked a couple years ago and because of covid it was pushed back. Not their fault. What was their fault was their false promises. I was promised specific food and they later told us it wasn't possible. Very simple food for brunch. Was told there was a suite to get ready on. Was then told there wasn't. I ended up hiring a planner because the communication was so poor and needs were not being met. Food was cold when served to us.  Not an issue for guests as their food was warm. The way food was served was inefficient and caused our timeline to be pushed back. Bridal party had to wait in line for food. We went to a tasting and you were provided a sample menu that could most likely not be your menu. Was told the officiant was included then told a month out it wasn't. A month out told our numbers would need to be reduced. Reduced the numbers and weren't compensated. Communication about covid restrictions were not great. They waited until it was about a month out to tell us even though we had been in frequent contact. Good things to know: Ceremony site is not private so there may be people wandering (this was not an issue for us but noticed during the rehearsal) You have to use their dj services, florist, caterer, and bakery. No real issues with any besides the dj. Frequent issues with music not being queued, wrong songs played, music being played from a cell phone with poor quality and feedback etc. The gazebo was dirty. We did not sail out to where we should because of timing. Didn't have people sign the life saver which was supposed to be the guest book. The drinks were good. Open bar. Service for the bride and groom. (Us) was great and they were attentive. Decorations were great. Flowers were great. Customer service was decent. Guest say the service was good. Help for guest with accessibility issues was excellent. Guests enjoyed being on the yacht. All in all we were not satisfied and feel if we had known about the hidden fees, the poor communication, and the false promises we would have canceled instead of rescheduling  and feel their lack of communication and preparation could have been prevented and need major work. For the price you pay it was not worth it at all. read more

Last night we attended a dinner cruise for a 30th anniversary for a company located in Troy. We had a fantastic time! We couldn't believe how wonderful the inside service and the crew were! So professional and friendly, we chatted with Captain Mark who put up with all of our silly questions and jokes, the service staff was there with anything you might need. The bartender, an MSU student, even remembered my drink with every trip to the bar, and the food!! Delicious! Amazing experience! My wedding took place August 29th this year and it was absolutely amazing! Everything was so smooth, my family and I were blown away. The food just kept coming and it was all so good; warm gooey cake and potato stacks were delicious. The rehearsal dinner cruise we hosted for our son and his fiancee was even better than expected. After having been guided through the planning process by Laura, with phone calls and emails going back and forth for a few months, we boarded the Infinity, which sparkled inside and out. Meeting us was the captain, crew members and serving staff, all of whom put us immediately at ease. The captain was most personable, and told us he loves his job, which is a great thing to hear from the guy who is driving, right? One of the servers caught on that I was the mother of the groom, and honestly, waited on me all evening. Jordan, our cruise director, was right on task, making sure we had "smooth sailing." The microphone, camera and screen system worked just perfectly for our casual event. The food was beautifully presented, in a timely fashion, and was plentiful and delicious. The DJ kept the beat going with a great selection, and was very accommodating when it came to requests, such as mine, for golden oldie Motown. What completely surprised us was a stunning light show, included at no cost! Actually, as we were cruising back to port, we encountered a storm, which included wind, choppy waves, and lightning that completely surrounded us. The captain was forced to delay docking for about half an hour, due to the wind and waves, but the excellent service and great music continued until we docked. We attended a wedding yesterday at Jefferson Marina. After the ceremony we boarded a yacht and cruised. It was a good experience. It's an excellent way to see the water and shoreline of Detroit and its suburbs. The food was good and they had a full bar. I would give them 5 stars, except for one reason: the young serving staff. It was extremely annoying to have to guard my food and drink all night long. Management needs to teach the young busboys and girls busing etiquette. While finishing my dinner I told no less than three different people that I was not done eating and no, they could not take my plate. The fact that I was still chewing should have been a clue. There are signals they need to learn, such as crossed utensils on a plate. This means someone is done. When the cake was being served, a young woman came to our table and asked my husband what kind of cake he would like. She took his request, and walked away. She never even looked at me or inquired whether I would like cake. Also, it is very wasteful to take drinks before they are done. A lot of alcohol got thrown away last night. While dancing, my drink gotten taken twice. I had my purse, shawl, and two pair of sunglasses sitting right on the table with my drink. I was dancing 5 feet away. But each time I came back to the table, my drink was gone. At the end of the evening, I believe this was happening because the staff was in such a hurry to get off the boat. It felt intrusive and rushed. If these types of problems are fixed, the cruise will be wonderful. read more

I have attended numerous parties over the last 17 years on the Infinity and Ovation Yachts and everyone of them have been top notch. Starting with a high school graduation party to my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary, and even a company retreat. They all have been great. Every step of the way we received excellent service from the staff at the Ovation...from the initial phone call all the way through the planning and the actual event. Their attention to detail and follow up throughout the planning process was outstanding. Once on board, the food was excellent, the staff was great, and everyone really enjoyed themselves and appreciated the unique experience the Ovation provides.
