I would have added 5 more stars if I could have. Mark and his crews transformed my backyard into something awesome. They added decking, an eight ft fence, a swing gate, a firepit and an arbor. Each one is my favorite. Through out the whole process Mark was professional, even when I changed my mind several times and he had to redraw the plans. First and foremost the work they did was great (my pest guy even made a comment about they made sure to seal up the areas of work). Mark was very responsive and gave me plenty of heads up on when everything was going to happen. I do wish I had gotten to see some more of the design upfront it would have made me feel more comfortable with the cost (very reasonable after seeing the work that was done). My only knock is the contractor for the gutters doubled the cost that Mark originally quoted to me, however this could have been because I waited to see what the cover would look like. read more

Extremely disappointed in Extreme Woodcare! They built my fence 6 years ago (Mark) and it turned out great. Now I go to get it re-stained and dealing with Mark's son - Justin. From the first meeting, it was clear that Justin had zero customer service skills. He spent more time telling me what he wasn't going to do and what he would do, and then because he had to drive to my house to deliver the work order that I did not sign because I was going to get additional quotes. Wow we just needed to have 1 picket replaced. It is on the outside of the fence so we wanted to have an interior picket removed, and replaced on the outside then the repair put on the inside, then the new piece stained. He quoted me $375, ok no problem. Then he says it's gonna be another $1656! Text does clean stain outside only and both and both sides street side. Minimum repair $375.00. I knew I should have gotten an actual invoice in writing. I knew it I knew it. He didn't do anything I wanted, the way I wanted it. He had them start staining the original fence work, now I owe $1365 for work that isn't finished, isn't what I wanted and isn't what I asked for. His answer was to refund the repair money of $375, that took a whole 10 minutes. I could have done it myself in the same amount of time. He didn't use our picket which would match. This is a mess. I will NEVER use this company again and NO I won't have my husband call you. We paid $18,000 for this fence a year ago. This is what you get from this company people, GO ANYWHERE ELSE. Read the Yelp reviews also. There are several that say the same thing, he doesn't listen, he gets angry when you say, that isn't what we talked about. I never did get the invoices I asked for nearly a month ago. Always get the invoice first. He didn't do the work and I'm not paying him for anything else. I'll contact the staining company directly, regardless of whether or not he "gives them a lot of business", if they don't want to stain it, lots of other options in DFW. Funny he didn't blow up at my husband when we gave him $18,000 for the original work. He told me "unfortunately I know which customer you are". Oh my lord now he says they already started the staining, this means my fence is partially stained a second time, partially only stained once, and the repair is unstained. I never ever discussed staining both sides and cleaning it. I can't believe I allowed this to happen. Get the invoice, don't allow anything to be scheduled, check the details. He had one idea about what was supposed to be done and I a completely different one. It is true in one text message he sloppily writes about work he is asking if I want done, I said go ahead, meaning the TEXT MESSAGE before on the work I asked to be done, not what he offered. This is all for one picket (one board). He was gonna do $1,365 worth of work I hadn't paid for yet? I still haven't gotten the invoices yet. I can't believe someone else damages our fence and I have to go through all this to get it repaired. He didn't want to do the job in the first place, I should have said ok and found someone else. I wanted the job done so it would all match as best as possible so having the same company do it seemed the right idea. Honestly, I should have just done it myself. I have read the reviews about the owner of this company but we used him anyway. We were a little concerned by giving him half up front, but we did it anyway, because we tend to trust people on their word. He did build the fence and it looks awesome! He had suggested a viewing window because we had covered the gas meter. After fence was built he some how didn't remember to add the window and we had this conversation after we had several other conversations about the viewing window. Mark is the owner of the company: Mark - I'm going to take a 4inch hole saw and cut it for the meter reader Home Owner- No... that will look crappy. Needs to be a rectangle view slot that's trimmed and nice, like the rest of the fence Mark-You didn't pay me for that Home Owner-We all talked about it!! Okay whatever! Just forget about it, cause I don't want a big oil round hole in my fence! By the way, you were the one that suggested the view window. Why you wouldn't have included it, knowing we needed it and you suggesting it... WOW... typical contractor!! Mark-Find someone else to stain it I give you a great price I put the corbels on there for you for free but I'm a typical contractor so go ahead and find somebody else to stain it Home Owner-You're not gonna like my wife's review and we have a contract with you I didn't ask you to do the corbels. I cannot say enough good things about Mark and his company. First, he is proud of his product and he will tell you that in his first meeting. After that he shows you and you will understand why. He was at the job site everyday directing and making sure that the crew was doing everything as promised and the work was top quality. No scrimping on low cost materials or short cuts. I had a 30+ foot gate built from scratch and installed with new fencing within a one week period at a very reasonable price. After installation and payment, the gate settings needed to be adjusted a few times to get consistent performance and each time I called Mark was quick to respond and came over to help no questions asked. I have dealt with a lot of contractors and to find one that actually takes pride in their work and continues to offer service after the sale is rare. We had Extreme Woodcare replace our existing fence with a 6ft Board on Board cedar fence. After first contact with Mark he was very helpful in providing a quote quickly. And was even able to start the work in just a few days. Despite the drizzling weather his crew (who were great) finished the entire work in under 2 days. And I cannot express enough how great the fence looks. Mark and his son Justin were great and a pleasure to work with. As well as his crew. First let me start with the positive. The fence that Extreme Woodcare recently installed is beautiful and sturdy. Mark on the other hand is one of the most unprofessional contractors we have ever used. We had an issue that should have easily been resolved but he instead yelled, asked for additional money and was flat out rude and aggressive. When they came back to stain the shed they damaged some property in the shed. When confronted he denied responsibility saying we should have moved the items ourselves. He was aggressive and rude texting "you won't get a dime from me. Take some responsibility for yourself". Wow!! I'm so glad I didn't follow the reviews on this website prior to requesting a bid from Extreme Woodcare. I had received multiple quotes from several other builders to pour an extended patio and build a large arbor in my backyard. Mark was very professional and straight forward in what he and his team could deliver. Mark was the only one that had followed up with me multiple times where as the other builders provided the quote and followed up one time and then disappeared. Mark and his team were very professional and built an outstanding patio and arbor in my backyard. His persistence certainly paid off not only for him but also for me. I am one highly satisfied customer of Extreme Woodcare and Mark and his team. I got bids from 5 highly rated fence companies on 170' of 8' board on board cedar fence with an electric gate across my driveway, 15' of 6' BOB screening fence around pool equipment, and a patio arbor. Extreme Wood Care was not the least expensive but they were also not the most expensive. After looking at completed jobs by each company I determined that EWC produced the highest quality and best looking fence. Mark worked with my pool builder to coordinate the installation of the arbor posts with the pouring of the decking. Once the pool was complete he had my old fence taken down and the new fence, gate and arbor up in two days. His crew worked until 10 pm the second day to finish the job. The stain is contingent upon our place in line and the weather, and was completed in a timely manner. As I said before EWC quality is outstanding and everything looks amazing. If you want a smooth talking salesman who will tell you what you want to hear then Mark is not your guy. If you want some one who will tell it like it is and the best quality work at a fair price then you should go with EWC. Comments read more

I can truly say that I am disappointed with the lack of professionalism and the service. Had my fence replaced 3 months ago and week 2 several of the boards started to split. Had another contractor to come out and take a look and he responded "the wood was of cheap quality" The board were replaced after three months which is how long it took to get the fence stained. Mark was the only contractor who truly wanted to earn our business. Our project was not your run of the mill patio cover project. The project called for a creative engineering mind to focus on the roof lines for the water run off. Mark came through, he and his crew did a great job with the design and the final product looks great. Just before the concrete was laid, I asked Mark to add more concrete in an area that was not discussed during the design stage. Mark agreed with the extra concrete and went above and beyond, he did not charge for the extra concrete or labor. All the crews were professional especially the concrete crew. read more

My husband and I met Mark at a lawn and garden show recently and were impressed with the quality of his work that was on display so we scheduled a consult with him to discuss building an arbor in our backyard. When we met with him the following week we discussed different ideas we had in mind and in the end we paid him a deposit for a stand alone arbor. Shortly after we paid the deposit we concluded that if we were going to invest that much into an arbor we might as well go with an attached covered patio instead. So we met with Mark again to discuss the cost for the revisions to the project. Unfortunately our budget did not allow for us to move forward so we contacted Mark to request a refund of our deposit. I've used this company for my own fence, the owner's business conduct "Mark" is shady , dishonest and lots and lots of lies, My biggest mistake was that i paid him for the work , he never finished and didn't give the money back , the city inspection failed on the part of work he did , even with all the paperwork we signed he just didn't honor his own contracts... after what happened to me i research the company and found that they even lied about their BBB accreditation, they are not accredited (http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/fence-contractors/extreme-wood-care-in-garland-tx-90021472) and have several complains already.... avoid this company with everything you've got and if for any stupid reason you decided to use them just don't pay them more than 20% up front, and nothing until the inspection is done and make sure to write the check with the company's name.... just avoid and save yourself the headache. read more
