Casting of course, can be extremely timely and specfic. The several bigger paying gigs that they do…read moreget on their site, can be very specific, require multiple files and naming conventions - but - BS has been rudely insistent for years to their paying customers, that they will only allow a single file to upload in response to an audition. Perhaps they are unaware of the larger casting requirements that bigger casting agents require, as BS has asked me specifically for examples where multiples files were requested. On the other hand, a simple peak at Actors Access or Casting Networks audition requests, shows a very easy, clear multiple file and renaming ability - and ordering the files/takes, which is very important also. Larger Casting directors likely know these limitations of Backstage, and use the other 2 systems (as the number of quality, higher paying and Union gigs that they have, seems apparrent). I dont think I have ever seen a 5-15k commerical listed on Backstage, or a co-star on network TV. And they charge a very high cost imo, for the slow support, flexibilty and assistance in helping professional actors meet casting and submission requirements.

The casting experience was not as pleasant as I thought it would be. The studio was not baby friendly. They had metal benches as seats for the casters. The benches were definitely not baby proof! They had sharp corners. We're at a studio for a BABY casting right? So unfortunately, one baby was walking around and fell right on one of the corners. Poor baby bled. They asked mothers not to allow their babies to walk around, is that even possible? Obviously these people do not have kids. Part 2. We were told we made it as finalists and to hold a certain date open. 2 days before that date, I decided to call since I was not told what time to arrive for casting. Unfortunately, we were told that we have been released. No email or phone call were made to inform us. It would only be fair for us to be informed via the many available forms of communications. They asked their casters to hold a certain date for the final casting, but when we are not "hired" they simply waited for us to call to follow up. Their work might be keeping them busy from making a simple phone call or email, but our lives are busy too; especially working mothers. Even if we are the ones who have to call, at least employ people who are friendly and professional. I have definitely experience once of the sourest customer service from Paul. Blessing in disguise. Who wants to work with an unempathetic company.

Sheila and her staff worked around my girls crazy schedules with fulltime dance and competition at Pro Dance studio as well as their Little Miss Ocean City, NJ event schedules. The girls now take zoom classes every Saturday mornings from 9am until noon. Barbizon offers complimentary classes almost every night as well that the girls try to jump on as often as possible. The skills they are being taught in the industry are the best around. This is the best platform to introduce your child to the industry. It puts them in front of so many agents/agencies all in one place! We would have had no idea how to navigate the industry without their continued guidance. It doesn't stop when the classes are over. The girls will have lifetime access to the Barbizon classes, guidance and mentorship from Sheila and as well as her expert team. The staff and instructors are the best around. We are so grateful for this experience! We met some wonderful new friends and are making lasting memories. Don't go there except ring to be "discovered". I can't imagine Hasbrook heights is a bed of activity of agents and scouts... Fashion houses don't even put their warehouses there. That said, it is an excellent charm school. I choose to be crass and oft vulgar, but I learned how not to be at barbizon. I learned how to properly set a table, skincare, makeup, how to walk like a "model" or at least a lady , and how to correct my posture, amongst other things. It was fun. I only did the half program and was told then I could return any time for a refresher. I have no clue if that is acutely true, it would be interesting to see how things have changed. The fashion was a bit dated, even for the 90s. Some permed wanna be Stepford wife instructed me on the many ways you could wear an (outdated) scarf. I'd like to know what they teach now. Though I am more adept at these skills than my mother and may not need to send my daughter, I may because all in all it was fun and educational. They don't even teach home ec anymore.... I'm far from traditional in many ways but sometimes girls just need these skills. Maybe they should offer home ec lol
