I rarely write long reviews on Yelp but I certainly make an effort to write when I have a particularly negative experience or when I have a particularly positive experience. In this case, I don't know if there's enough room in this tiny text box to type all the positivity I want to type about Generation Model Management. I have worked in the entertainment industry since 2007, specifically in the NY market, and I have dealt with many casting directors, producers, and various industry professionals. One thing I learned (before becoming a parent) was that the entertainment industry is small and the people in it do not hold back on feedback. With that said, I have always been told that Generation Model Management was a top agency in NY and they stand apart from the rest by working specifically with children, by being extremely professional, and by having a strong and well-respected leader, Patti Fleischer. Patti Fleischer is an incredible businesswoman who always, without fail, has the best interest of her kids at the forefront of her efforts. Flash forward to having my own children and being on the other side of the desk... Myself and my husband were invited into a meeting with Patti Fleischer after submitting both of our children to GMM. I submitted my children at the advice of a fashion production company president who stated she would not put her own children with any other agency. Boy, am I glad I listened to her. Generation Model Management from the very first day has been a warm, loving, professional, and truly all-embracing supportive environment. During our meeting we spoke about the industry, what would be expected of a parent of a model, what the casting/booking process involves, and any questions we had as a family. We brought both of our "two under two" kids to meet with the team at GMM and we wholeheartedly signed that day with ZERO hesitation. Generation has proven time and time again to be a perfect match for our family. Patti, Ellen, and the entire team are hardworking, caring, knowledgable, and unquestionably great at their jobs. My children have booked well over 30 jobs in their young lives and made memories to last a lifetime. This is only the beginning, too! On a more serious note, we have always had thorough communication from GMM, my children have always been paid within 90 days of their jobs, and whenever I had a question or a situation arise at a casting or booking Patti and/or Ellen have made themselves entirely available and aided in the quick and positive resolution we needed. This team works with you the whole way. More than business though Patti and her team care. They have reached out and asked me about my family, our health, and my children's activities all unrelated to modeling. They asked "just because" as a family member or friend would. GMM invests personally in your children and in your family. It is no surprise that the parents past and present of Generation are very inclusive and welcoming. Patti leads by example. Soon after signing I realized that we were now part of a family. Everyone in the Generation family is not only supportive but helpful and kind. To sum up Generation Model Management as a business in one sentence: they have a very old school mindset in a new age world. Your children are PEOPLE before they are MODELS to them. I submitted photos of my daughter. Within a few hours I received an email from the owner stating she wanted to meet my daughter. She emailed me back and fourth a few times. We agreed to come in a meet with the owner. The modeling agency is in a dirty run down office on 20th street in Manhattan. We sat down and the whole meeting took 5 minutes where we said we would talk it over with my daughter because the owner was interested in working with her. Two days later I emailed the owner and said my daughter was interested. No response. A second, third, and fourth Email received no answer. The owner couldn't even give me a courtesy response or call. Very unprofessional, she also states she does no communication through the phone. Very shady and as I can see from the reviews she has a history of doing this. We can't comment on getting paid because she never responded after the initial meeting. I wouldn't recommend this as a professional agency. I know the business is tough and there is rejection. But at least have some dignity and respond to emails and make phone calls. read more

Responded to a post on Generation's FB page looking for models. I submitted my identical twins. That day I received a response (shock) that Dina would like to meet with us and have them do a cold read. Dina is from their tv/commercial division. I thought I was sending in for model/print not commercials, but whatever, we got an in and we're set up immediately for an interview. The twins fell in love with Dina. This is why I gave her two stars. She is wonderful with children. My twins felt right at home with her. She did say some things to me that just weren't right. For ex...they read excellent! Better than my 14 yr olds! oh come on. You think I'm that stupid? LOL and there were a few other things that lit the bulb in my head. All while she spent a good 30 min with my girls. Anyway, she said time to talk to mom, and then, you know what? Call me tomorrow, here's my card, call me at noon. We need to talk and discuss the girls. Her exact words. As we were leaving, she reminded me again. She displayed 100 percent interest in the girls. I thought we were going to sign right there. So, next day. Call her at noon. Receptionist answers. Remembers me. Puts me on hold. Dina is at a meeting! What meeting. Her desk is 10 feet from his if that. LOL seriously. He didn't need to put me on hold to find that out. He said Dina will call you back today and if not sometime next week. SOMETIME next week? Ok. That's where it ends for me. I emailed them yesterday and thanked them for the opportunity. And ended it. Highly unprofessional. She pretended to love my twins. A TOTAL FAKE. I'm not saying she's not good at what she does. She's probably great! I saw how she was with my twins. The proper ending to an interview would be to say, I will email you if we decide to sign on your twins. She basically faked the entire interview, never did plan on talking with me, has the gift of the gab, makes you feel your child is the best(like I said before, i picked up on that immediately) and dumped us. Someone mentioned to me i have to have thick skin in this business. And yes you do! Believe me, been there, done that since they were infants (now almost 7 yrs old). I know all about the thick skin part. We've been on plenty of auditions and call backs and interviews. This experience was the bottom of the bunch. Did not like the feel/vibe i got in the office. Staff was uninviting and had an overall feeling of coldness in the office. Very unprofessional on her part the way it was handled. read more

This review is only based on going to an appointment. We only went to meet Patti for the 1st time. Patti was very nice. She explained how the company works and asked if I had any questions. I asked my questions and she answered them honestly. As nervous as I was, it was still good to get a feel of how the business works. This was the only appointment I've ever been to. My child and I registered at Generation and were on their books for around 8 months. I found them to be a wholly disreputable company who never paid us a cent for our work. When I call to ask for payment they have threatened to destroy my child's modelling career. As any parent will know threatening a child is taken very seriously and I would warn other parents considering child modelling to avoid the agency and seek out a better more professional business. Run, don't walk ! Complete waste of time. You can tell a lot about an establishment by the office. Let me give you a few adjectives so you know what you are getting into: dingy, dark, small, hot, outdated..oh , and good luck riding the death trap of an elevator on your way up! I submitted my child's pictures via their website and heard back from Patti, the owner immediately wanting to meet me and my daughter. I drove an hour and a half in traffic and had my cousin along to help me as my child is two. Patti seemed bothered that my cousin was sitting in waiting "area" and was rude to her by barely acknowledging her and told me "nobody wants to meet your family when you go on auditions". She also barely looked at my daughter and wanted to just meet with me. I guess it's a good thing I had someone with me or else my two year old would have been left alone while we met. Our ten minute meeting went fine until I asked her a question about how many children she submits to her clients per job. I don't think She liked my question and wouldn't answer me directly, I asked for an average number and told her I am very new at this and just want to understand the process. She became irritated that I pressed her for an answer and it became very uncomfortable. She became very devil wears prada ish and said, "we will be in touch if we are interested". I didn't want to waste any more of my time so I thanked her and left. How can an agency that represents children not even look at my child? I have made a successful career in recruiting and sales, so meeting, getting along with people and communicating professionally is something I typically don't struggle with. She told me this was a horrible age to start modeling. Well, I submitted my daughters age and info so why in the world did you want to meet with us??? She was condescending and also seemed annoyed that I lived in NJ. I was on time for our meeting as well. Why would you trust or want someone who can't/won't answer a simple questions out their business practices represent your child? Trust me, there are hundreds of other agencies who have well known clients too, To summarize, this woman does not like to be questioned and wants to work with parents who will kiss her ass. I wasn't expecting much from this meeting, but didn't expect to be treated so poorly. I don't know what I did to deserve the rude attitude. Sorry Patti, you aren't that special and neither is your agency. By the way, stop being cheap and pay for some AC in your office . Both of my children have been with Generation about 5 years and we could not be happier. They are a professional and reputable agency who have provided my children with amazing work opportunities throughout the years. Prior to making the decision to have my children become models, I was aware of the many scam agencies that are out there. I did my homework to prevent myself from being, essentially robbed. We met with Patti and knew it was the best fit! I like that this is a smaller, tightly knit agency, that Patti knows all of the kids and their families on a first name basis, that we were not just a cog in the machine. There is a level of caring and understanding that I know does not exist in other agencies. Additionally, in my opinion, the clients who choose to work with Generation are also a testament to the quality and caliber of the outfit. My children have worked with countless major companies, and been compensated for each and every job. NEVER had an issue with non-payment! Patti explained on our initial meeting that sometimes payment could take several months, and even if a little late, it always came. Everyone in the office has never been anything but helpful and courteous as well. It is imperative to keep in mind that this is a business, one that Patti and crew exceptionally well. Sending the right kids to the right jobs makes money for everyone, and that's kind of the point. Sure its a treat to see your little ones accomplishments, but, it is a business arrangement. Parents need to trust their agency and respect its decisions. If I didn't, we wouldn't still be here! I wholeheartedly recommend Generation to anyone interested in child modeling. For us, it has been a very positive experience. They offer opportunities in print, TV, film and Theatre, many of which my own children have had the chance to experience. My daughter is represented by generation model management and we are very happy with the agency. She continues to be sent out for jobs and castings and she usually books them. It seems like generation has great contacts in this industry and they are recommended by anyone that has anything to do with this business. It is clear that they are not going to send someone out who is not right for the job or business. As they only want children who are willing and happy doing this kind of work. It is a shame to see anyone bash them as I know that the owner is sincere and works very hard to get these kids out there. As for us, I did not expect much entering my child in this business, but I have been completely surprised as to how many opportunities are out there, and proud that we have been able to take advantage of many of them, all thanks to generation. read more

The owner yells at me each time I call asking to finally receive payment for my child's work. This agency only takes care of kids whose mothers bribe the owner. My kids went for an interview and met an woman agent. (Name withheld). After the interview, my kids were upset and couldn't wait to leave. She was clearly not child friendly. We heard that they had a tough reputation with parents, sadly it turned out to be true for us. They were referred to us my family friends, who have a son with them. While their son has worked, they are afraid to turn anything down out of fear they would not be called again for another casting. My advise is to look for an CHILD FRIENDLY agency who deals exclusively with children. read more

My daughter and I are considering relocating to NYC from California so we were thrilled when Generation suggested I bring my 7 year old in. Patti had a toxic person narcissist vibe. She immediately mentioned that my daughter should take 'classes'. It sounded like a scam! Does she have some friend who teaches classes I wonder? I was shocked. She said 'we will be in touch' but we never heard back. Why lie? Why say you will be in touch when you obviously have no intention of following up? Why not say we will be in touch IF we are interested? She seems like a power tripper who likes to lead people on and her snickering scowling secretary was unfriendly too. I do believe it is possible to be in showbiz and be kind, fair and honest with people. Too bad this agency left my daughter and I feeling bad and wishing we had never gone. We have been with Generation for a year and have had nothing but great experiences! They are one of the very top agencies in the business and their models have booked the last two HUGE GAP campaigns. Other clients are J. Crew, Toys R Us, Huggies, Pampers, Macy's, Target, Levis, Esprit, Tommy H., Ralph Lauren, Justice, Aeropostale, etc. We were never asked to pay anything or to have any professional pictures taken. When I asked the owner, Patti, if she would please recommend a photographer, she helped me choose a very reasonable one and helped me make wardrobe decisions. I asked her, not the other way around! My daughter has been paid promptly for all her jobs. Some children work more than others, but that is due to client needs and preferences. There is also a wonderful FB network for the parents to share useful information and to celebrate accomplishments. The process of getting working papers and setting up a trust account can be overwhelming, but the other parents and Patti will help you with every step of the way. Patti posts several times weekly to let the parents know what is going on, so you never feel like you are in the dark. Asked me if I had any questions but reacted like all my questions were stupid. She had zero interest in my son whom I expected they would want to interact with. I am totally beyond disgusted with his agency. well Patti mostly because the other woman there is usually very nice. She calls herself patient but gave up taking picture of my son after 5 minutes. Hes 2! its surprising that with anyone else he takes amazing photos but i guess he wasn't feeling her just like i was not. She said maybe this is not for him and that he clearly didn't want to take pictures? Maybe because hes 2 and you got balls and shit everywhere!! She has a messy office basically like a children's room so its hard to see how any child could be focused on taking any photos in there.
