Some other sandwiches and a chef salad round out lunch. The beef is all from the Diamond A Ranch next door. They also have some breakfast items like tacos and biscuit sandwiches. The tea is fresh and good quality. The food is cooked fresh to order so expect a little wait. Unfortunately, we found the burgers to be rather dry and not tender and juicy, like there wasn't enough fat in the beef. The beefy flavor was excellent, though, and it was well seasoned. These half pounders are ginormous and two people could share one. The fries were obviously freshly made and flavorwise were tasty, but they weren't crispy :( I might try this place again sometime as there's a lot going for it and I like to support small local businesses. And you can buy the local beef to take home.

Im going to be harsher on the rest drop than others because Buc-ee's has set the bar so high…read more I grew up around smaller Buc-ee's and was in shock went I saw my first Gas Pro Shop mega location. This Giddings spot is tiny but mighty with a small deduction of the normal beaver fare, clean restrooms and drink stations, and a fair amount of pumps. However, they lack the quality I have come to expect. Specifically, the coffee station gained my ire this time. The last 2 times I have stopped here, the coffee was bad. Like Circle K bad. Burnt and tasteless. And they lack the space for the cold creamers to hide the flavor. The carafes are too low to fit a large cup under so you have to tilt them, risking hot coffee split across your hand. At least it isn't as hot as McD's.

On a weekday, they might still have these Czech treats until 3 pm, but on the weekends, they go fast! Always friendly staff and i just love looking through their home decor. They have the cutest little tchotchkes that are locally crafted and so wonderful for home, garden, or lawn. I have bought many a christmas and birthday gift on the way. Great metal art as well! The bathrooms are always clean and smell fine. I highly recommend stopping at least one time to see everything they have to offer. It's a true, "small Texas town" stop! Oh, and set the GPS! Given their location across the "street" from Buc-ee's, I assumed QT would bring their A-game to this location. Instead, it was pretty average all around. Bathrooms weren't particularly clean, and the overall store was about as clean as tidy as you'd see a Pilot or Love's. I thought the prices actually were a tad higher than Buc-ee's but it probably depends on the item. I am 'over' the Bu-cee's experience and crowds myself, but still, I'd wait the minute or two to turn at the TX-21 light and pay them a visit over this particular QT.

I was actually able to find some decently healthy food here, a prepackaged pickle and chocolate milk. Ok, now that I write that down it doesn't seem that healthy, but the pickle was actually pretty appetizing, (not disgusting at all, as you might assume a pickle in a bag to be, 100% recommend the pickle) and the milk was just... good. There is a Buck-ee's down the road but it's a smaller one and it doesn't have Tesla charging, the CEFCO is just as good in my experience when it come to bathrooms. The next time I pass through Giddings I will be coming back. (Also, saw a rainbow after a pretty intense rainstorm on Feb. 14 while they were playing my favorite song, so nice experience there.)

There were a lot of pumps down that visit, but I lucked into one that was working. The squeegees were viable and not out of water, which gave me a great opportunity to do some window washing while I fueled. It was late (after 5p) on a Sunday and with a lot of travelers, I found the trash bins overflowing as others have noted. I mean, it happens. People come by and clean out a trip's (or a year's) worth of trash here; not fair to them, but that's the deal you make when you serve the public. What I found interesting is that even though this is not a Top Tier fuel, my car actually seemed to run better on it.
