This is a small gas station in the parking lot of a shopping center in Cleveland Park, but it's pretty easy to get to. There are around four pumps and I've never had to wait to use one. read more

So thankful to have a service station right up the street from where I live. They were able to fix my flat tire and get me going in the time it took me to get a coffee a few doors down. In March 2019 I came here to because the steering in my car wasn't working. They charged me $1300 to replace the steering box and power steering pump. In July 2019, the steering stopped working again--I had to get the power steering fluid pump replaced again ($400). The guy at that place said that the power steering fluid pump that Tenleytown Exxon installed was an aftermarket brand, rather than the same brand as my car. So the expensive repairs from Tenleytown Exxon lasted about four months. read more

I am (mis)fortunate to own a Jeep Grand Cherokee that is getting older and showing its age by breaking down more frequently. In this situation, it's key to have an excellent mechanic. My husband and I have been going to Abed for nearly 12 years and have yet to be disappointed. This crew used to be in Adam's Morgan, but moved up here to the NW of Tenleytown, Cathedral Heights, American University Neighborhoods. It's incredibly convenient with the Tenleytown Metro a few blocks away, so you can drop your car/truck off and head to the metro to/from work while they work magic on your car! Abed and his team are skilled mechanics and knows cars; this auto repair shop won't take you to the cleaners like a dealership or some of the other places would. Fixing a broken car is expensive to begin with, but this team does it right and are exceptionally reasonable. Sure the shop is a little dirty, but like a good diner, the service and product are excellent! I send all my girlfriends there without a fear that they're going to be taken advantage of. Fellas, you would enjoy talking cars with any of the crew there too! This is a place I would send my grandmother to and know she would be taken care of. They fix your car and get you on down the highway with money still in your pocket for a nice meal in the neighborhood! read more

The Exxon people took my car right away on a Saturday and seemed to know what the problem was. A mere hour and $60 later I had a fixed car (I think -- too soon to say if the problem in fact is gone). read more

Meh, I've been to better places. I took my car there a few weeks ago. The regular series that they performed were fine. Among other things, the AC needed to be recharged. Everything seemed fine. Within a week, the AC had stopped cooling the air. This might be coincidence - maybe the unit failed soon after service, it can happen. I went back and he called to tell me that the problem was internal. He wanted me to take my car to somewhere else (he had no recommendation) and then come back to him so that he could do the work. It took me a while to understand that he couldn't figure out what was wrong, but wanted me to bring it back to him to fix it. Huh? So, in the end, I lost a day to his inability/unwillingness to diagnose the problem, and I will not return to this mechanic. read more

This used to be the adams mill Exxon service shop and moved. I had to come get a battery replacement after I initially bought it at the Adams mill location. Easily got the warranty on the battery. Mechanic stopped what he was doing to help get me fixed up and out the door quickly. Great customer service. read more

The service staff are polite and friendly. The mechanic, Abed, takes time to listen to you, and later explains what he has found and what needs to be done. I have never had to return the car for additional items, because the work has always been completed on time. The prices here are competitive and you will be dealt with honestly. Recently my car had a bad flat, and my husband said a new tire would be needed. I took my car in and later Abed called to report the car was ready, the tire was fixed, and a new one was not needed. Had a great experience from beginning to end with Abed and the rest of the staff!! After getting a price quote at a dealership for a new alternator, I called a towing company who recommended Tenleytown Exxon. The dealership would not release my car until a diagnostic fee was paid (which they would not take over the phone), so the driver took care of it and tacked it onto my final bill, relieving me of stress and inconvenience. Abed called me as soon as they received the car and again once he had examined it. The price they quoted me was 60% less than the dealership! He broke down the cost and talked me through the benefits of some repairs versus others. I am confident he gave me the best price he could. They had the car ready in two hours! Ten minutes after leaving the lot, I received a courtesy call asking how my service was and confirming that I was satisfied with my experience. I will return to Abed and his team time and time again! STOP!! PLEASE READ THIS !! This is where you want to take your car in DC! I have been taking my car to Abed for almost 20 years. He is a master mechanic and has worked on almost every car under the sun including my last two BMWs, 2001 330Ci and my 2008 335i coupe. I have never had to take my car back to him for any repair; including starters, batteries, struts and shocks, tires, control arms, power window actuators - you name it. Over the years I have had most of my repairs done with Abed or Winston (Valero in front of the Watergate on rock creek pkwy) Recently my tire went flat and luckily I was right near this Exxon. I pulled my car into the garage area, only to find that Abed was not there that day due to an urgent appointment - there was no one to help me plug my tire. I had to be at work within the hour and was about to call AAA to have my car towed to a tire shop. The man working the counter called the owner Eddie who was miles away at the Rock Creek Valero (their other location where Winston works - also a top notch mechanic) was driving up to help me. I was back on the road with a half hour. And though this is the most recent interaction with these guys, I could recount dozens of times over the years where I've saved tons of money and pain by simply remembering to take my car here first. If it's a repair that they cannot do there, at least I can go to the next place knowing what's going on and how much I should expect to pay. I would not be able to have kept a car in DC all these years without them and now you have a mechanic you can trust also. I just left this exxon and was very disappointed and I want warn folks they are ripping people off. I went in to buy some antifreeze. None of the brands were marked with a price. When I asked how much the Shell Antifreeze was he told me $20.99 I thought that price was outrageous. I asked if there was a cheaper brand he said they all cost $20.99. Hmmmm. I bought it and also asked if there was another place around I could buy antifreeze. He said no. When I walked out the door I noticed the 7/11 across the street. They had Peak Antifreeze for $9.99! I bought that one and went back to the Exxon to get a refund. Here is where it got weird. First, I waited 20 minutes because the cashier went to lunch and "Manager?" didn't know how to run refunds. When the cashier returned he scanned my item and $15.49 came up. He said that was the refund price. I looked at him blankly and said "But I paid $22.25." He said, yea but this is what you get for a refund. I said, "Uhhh no. I don't understand how I pay $22.25 for this but I only get $15.49." The "manager" at this point tells the cashier to refund me my full amount. The cashier says to him he can't because the machine is ringing up $15.49. The "manager" tells the cashier to do it as cash. He complies and I get my $22.25. Folks, they are charging people a higher price for the antifreeze than it's supposed to be. The antifreeze is supposed to be priced $14.99! I will never go there not even for gas. On the plus side like a couple other reviewers said. The "manager?" was nice and polite. He apologized for the "mix-up." Whatever dude. Let me start this review by saying the gentleman who runs the shop is very polite and I think he means well. That being said, don't go to this shop. My Jeep Cherokee was broken into, I called my insurance company who handled much of the claim and organized a tow to a repair shop that I decided on. Initially, I wanted my Jeep to go to Guaranis and when the tow truck driver brought it there he called me to say "they can't work on your ignition, let me bring it to my shop in Tenley Town." Suspect, but I still said yes against my better judgement. I picked up my Jeep a couple days later, it was FILTHY, inside and out. The steering wheel and drivers side door were covered in grease and there was cigarette ash all over the seats and the interior. As I pulled away from the shop, I noticed that the lights, turn signals and hazards did not work. I came back, they fixed it on the spot. Fast forward a week later, I notice that my cruise control does not work. I took a day off from work and drove it back to the shop only to be told that they can't work on cruise control there, so now I have to file another claim and put my Jeep back in another shop. It's all very trying. Again, the guy who runs this shop is very polite and I don't think he's trying to scam anyone, he just doesn't have good mechanics working for him and they don't quality check their work.
