Jeanna Hoyt screwed up my eye exam so my new glasses made my vision worse. The exam and glasses needed to be redone.

I'm a completely self admitted anxious medical person, especially given that I have a family history of melanoma and have been monitored closely over the years by my dermatologist. Plus, add in it's your eyelid which made me even more nervous. Thankfully I was in the best hands possible. Dr. Carey was so kind, calming, and wonderful throughout this whole process of getting this removed. His staff made everything seamless with scheduling, and answered any questions I had and were so kind when they could probably sense my panic at times about things. I'm almost 2 weeks out from him removing the mole and you can barely tell I had it taken off. I am eternally grateful for his care he has given me and feel so fortunate to have found him. Thank you Dr. Carey!

BEWARE!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS BUSINESS. Eye Associates…read moreNorthwest (EAN) turned what should have been a simple eye exam for my daughter into a $550 nightmare. She went to Eye Associates Northwest for her annual exam for new contact lenses. Instead of billing it as a regular routine vision exam for prescription contact lenses, they billed her exam as a medical exam. This mistake ended up costing my daughter $550, since medical exams are not covered under our VSP insurance. My daughter had to pay this cost herself. We tried to get Eye Associates Northwest to correct their billing, but they refused to change anything and kept insisting their billing was correct. As someone who has been going for regular routine vision exams annually for 40+ years, I have never seen any of my annual eye exams billed as a medical exam. We contacted their billing department, but they offered no help, no clarity, and no resolution. Once I started reading their Yelp reviews, with average score in the low 2s, I realized our experience wasn't unique, as many other customers report questionable billing practices, surprise charges, and difficulty getting their money back. Based on our experience and what others have shared publicly, I would urge anyone considering this clinic to be extremely cautious. This visit was a complete breach of trust. I would give them ZERO stars if that's an option.

I had to see Dr. Kenneth Fung for a follow-up appointment after laser eye surgery. I arrived about…read more20 minutes early, but the waiting room was already full. I ultimately had to wait approximately an hour before I was seen. When Dr. Fung came in, he examined my eye and told me that it appeared to be healing well. I then asked him about a concern I was having--seeing flashing lights when I look to the right. He told me that it was nothing to be concerned about. When I asked whether this was something I should be watching or concerned about, his response was delivered in what I felt was an annoyed and dismissive manner. I asked a few follow-up questions because I wanted to understand what I was experiencing and whether there were any warning signs I should be aware of. Unfortunately, my questions were met with the same irritated attitude. I was left with the impression that he was annoyed that I was asking questions at all. I cannot comment on whether Dr. Fung is an excellent or poor physician when it comes to the technical aspects of his work. However, I do believe that listening to and addressing a patient's concerns is an important part of providing good medical care. I was not impressed with Dr. Fung's bedside manner. Patients should feel comfortable asking questions about their health, particularly following eye surgery, and should feel that their concerns are being heard and taken seriously. In my experience, that was not the case during this visit.

That said, I ended up paying nearly $4,000 for a bunch of stuff...lid cleansing, and 4 IPL treatments for Rosacea and ocular Rosacea. I had inquired from her staff about Excel V which I had read was the gold standard for ocular rosacea and they told me IPL was the way to go. Well, I only saw Dr. one time. The 4 IPL treatments were done by her staff. When I told them it didn't seem to be working about half way through I was told I needed patience so I went for the entire course per Docs recommendation. Not only did it not improve my skin at all, it actually made my eyes worse. Wish they would have laid out my options before rushing me into something that was really not intended for rosacea. Surely as knowledgable as this Dr is she would have known about the procedures such as Excel V and V Beam and could have explained them all so I could have made a choice. When I told the staff it didn't work they just said "ok". No follow up with me by the Dr or anyone else. This did leave me feeling like it was all about the Benjamins to them. Hope I'm wrong but here I sit....my eyes worse then ever, my skin still bad and my bank account much smaller. She came highly recommended and is probably great for dry eyes but I would not recommend her for ocular rosacea at all.
