When my husband called and explained the situation to the office that his eyes were getting worse, he was shocked to hear that he would need to pay another $3,000 to fix it. Can you believe the audacity?! Who would spend $5,000 for a one year warranty?! He was never even told about a one year warranty. He couldn't believe the amount of people that would be lined up like herds of cattle getting their eyes done between 2-5 minutes and you're telling me you can't fix your mistake?! I've worn eyeglasses since 4th grade and now in my late 40s, I have astigmatism, high index myopia (I'm basically blind) and I'm on my way to the land of presbyopia. I've simply had it being blind at night around bedtime and not being able to swim or do sports -with all the hassle of annoying contacts. Not a fun journey but nonetheless I've been waiting and waiting to embark on my LASIK adventure. I've known about this procedure since I was a teenager but being the overly cautious person I am - I have procrastinated... So here we go! Dr. Ken Moadel and staff gave a professional and friendly impression straight from my first encounter. From the phone communication to the manner they receive their patients, you will be treated with compassion to the moment you step into their office as I was. The reception room is across from the main office area which offers privacy and exclusivity. The reception area is stocked with a basket of snacks for the patients which is a personable and thoughtful touch. After filling out the quick 2 page form, I was promptly called into the examination room with the optometrist "Anette". She was very empathetic and detailed, and explained the exact procedures, reasons and indications for them. Annette also spoke about my actual readings and parameters. She was also very jovial and inadvertently cracked me up a couple of times. Wrapping up her thorough assessment even showing me an eye model to make things more clear, she asked if I had any further questions. Without much further ado, Dr. Moadel kindly greeted me as he does with his other patients, completed a few more exams and presented me with my comprehensive and tailored treatment plan and the alternatives. He was candid and explained all of the associated risks and benefits in complete detail. My experience at NY2020 was wonderful and surpassed my expectations. The office is modern, pristine and professional and follows all COVID precautions. Most importantly- the staff and doctor treat you like FAMILY. At the end of it all - this is what matters the most.

But they refused to provide her the results of the exam without an additional $75. I spoke to them and their story made no sense whatsoever. They would immediately provide the results by email for $75 but -- due to HIPPA -- would require 3 weeks and a pile of paperwork to provide everything but the actual prescription. They called the $75 a "refraction fee" but it's actually a junk fee. It's also illegal to refuse to provide medical records under NYS 18(2). If their plan was to upsell $5-10,000 of Lazik procedures to a person whose family earns below 107% of the poverty line, it was a stupid plan and it was cruel. Don't do business with them.

During a routine eye exam with Dr. Koster, I experienced concerning unprofessional behavior. When I mentioned having vision correction surgery 14 months prior in another country and asked about my current eye health, Dr. Koster immediately became dismissive, stating "you know, I don't do post op care for other people" and ended the appointment without answering any of my questions. By his logic, if his own patients move to another country, they would never be able to seek routine eye care from a local doctor. No surgeon, including himself I'm sure, provides post-op care indefinitely, especially for patients who relocate to a different country more than a year after their procedure. When I requested my exam results at the front desk (as none of my questions were answered), Dr. Koster followed me into the hallway and publicly berated me in front of staff and other patients, repeatedly yelling "WHY DID YOU GET SURGERY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY? WHY AREN'T YOU GOING TO THEM FOR FOLLOW UP? WHY DID YOU GET SURGERY IN A COUNTRY YOU DON'T LIVE IN? YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN SURGERY WHERE YOU LIVE." His aggressive behavior and elevated tone made me extremely uncomfortable, especially as I was simply seeking a routine eye exam as a new patient. The level of hostility in his response was so disproportionate that I found myself wondering if his reaction was influenced by my age, gender, or ethnicity. I attempted to address this incident by contacting the office manager, Nicole, who apologized and offered to refer me to another doctor in the practice. However, my primary concern was Dr. Koster's unprofessional conduct, for which I never received acknowledgment or apology despite my attempts to resolve the matter privately. The practice's phone lines are managed by a shared services call center, making it extremely difficult to reach them directly. I ultimately decided not to pursue the matter further, but patients should be aware that they may encounter extremely unprofessional treatment at this practice. Patients deserve respectful and professional medical care regardless of their medical history or where they previously received treatment.

My friend also decided to get surgery with me and we were able to book for same day back to back. Scheduling was fine and so was all the pre-op and post op appts. Surgery was done on a Saturday and follow ups were always weekdays. The providers here and staff are all so nice and friendly. Very informative. The day of surgery everything went flawlessly and i knew exactly what you expect b4 and after. Highly recommend this place. I come yearly for annual eye exam and never have an issue making an appt. The only advice i have is make sure you plan ahead with trains/walking to get there on time. I always try to leave earlier so i don't have issues with being seen.

Absolutely don't regret getting EVO ICL by Dr. Kelly at all. I don't even feel like I had any surgery done and my vision has been incredible even post-op day 3 as I'm currently writing this. The halos that people share online was only present for the first day after my surgery (which is completely normal) and went away after the second day. Everyone in the office has been extremely helpful and wonderful and the process has been so smooth. It has been life changing and especially not having to worry about what would happen in a fire and I can't find my glasses/contact lenses LOL.
