Setting up the appointment was easy and their communication leading up to the appointment was great. Appreciated the text reminders. Rose, who took me back and did the initial screenings, was patient, friendly and really set the stage for a great appointment. Christina, the gal who helped picked frames/lenses after the appointment, was also fantastic - friendly, helpful, patient, non judgmental. They also have a pretty broad selection of glasses. However, the Dr. Ben Konyenbelt left something to be desired. This guy was a bit frantic, creating a chaotic feel in the room. His hand was shaking so perhaps he was worked up about something else and I just happened to encounter him at the wrong time. However, the feeling I got from him is that of a Nervous Nellie. He then proceeded to tell me that I wasn't welcome back because I wouldn't agree to having them dilate my eyes. I had alerted the office in advance that I didn't want dilation & they said it was no problem as long as I signed a waiver, which I did. I appreciated their ability to work with my preference & was conscientious to clear it with them first. Apparently the optometrist doesn't agree with their policy and told me that coming to an annual appointment for the purpose of getting my eyes checked & getting glasses through insurance is not a reason to come to the eye dr. Hmmm....seems odd! Would think he'd encourage people to come back every year to better monitor if patients are reporting any problems. I get that he wanted me to come to be more medically evaluated "just in case", even though I have no issues or history of issues. btw - if I were having any issues, I would have gladly agreed to and supported additional evaluation. Truly, he seemed annoyed that as an optometrist, he was simply checking vision and writing a prescription rather than doing more dr worthy stuff, but hey - that's also part of the job. Would I recommend Riverside Family Eye Care - I would for the support staff, convenience and selection. However, I would definitely pick a different optometrist! Picked up my glasses. Office was closed so I was going to come back but their lab mgr, david, saw me & unlocked the door, offering to get my glasses for me. Thats some pretty great service & he was obviously very knowledgeable. 5 stars for Rose, Christina & the David. 1 star for Dr. Ben Konyenbelt.

Not knowing what to expect, I was relieved to be greeted by the receptionist with a warm and caring attitude. Halfway through my conversation with her, Trish the optometrist appeared from the back with a reassuring "we can help" attitude. Not only did they help me navigate his old optometrists up north, but Trish herself showed up not once but twice at my dad's nursing home to make sure that he could (at the very least) see properly. If nothing else, their kindness and willingness to work outside the norm will stay with me and my family for years. This is the exact reason to work with small business, so you can reach a "human" to help you with a nontraditional need.

The tech, Sandra, dilatated her eyes to preform the tests. My 3 year old didn't want anything to do with her after that and proceeded to throw a tantrum for 10 minutes or more. They told us if they could not get this test then we would have to go to a THIRD Drs, which suffice to say didn't make me happy. Sandra could tell I was upset and stressed out and took the time to make my child feel comfortable with her again. When I tell you she went above and beyond what her job entailed, I mean it. She even got down on the floor and played and talked to her. She met my daughter where she was at in that moment and literally got on her level to calm her down. She came around very quickly and the test was preformed with ease. I am incredible grateful for Sandra's level of commitment to getting my child the help they needed.

I was amazed at the pre screenings and evaluations and the choices you have for the eye surgery. I had severe cataracts, with my left eye being almost fully occulded. I was scared of losing my sight. I was constantly reassured that the problem can and would be corrected. As soon as the first surgery was completed, I was amazed at the results. The second eye was done two weeks later with equal results. New lenses in my eyes and a new lease on life. I was counseled on the pre and aftercare and the entire staff was both professional ans reassuring. When I get up in the morning, I still look for my eyeglasses before realizing I no longer need them. I just need to use the cheaters for reading. I can now enjoy my reading once again, and have a renewed confidence in driving. The type and amount of pre and post care will make me recommend Franz Eyecare to any of my family and friends.
