When I finally managed to speak with the manager in person, she was extremely rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. Right in front of me, she popped the lenses out of my glasses and twisted the frame, then denied ever touching them. First she said she would help resolve the issue, and then suddenly changed her story and said, "Sorry, we can't help, it's been almost a year." The frustrating part is that when I tried to get help earlier -- before it had been a year -- the staff kept telling me the manager was unavailable and that nobody else could assist me. Now I'm stuck with expensive YSL glasses that I can't even use. On top of that, I feel like I was overcharged with unnecessary add-ons and hidden costs. I have honestly never experienced customer service this bad before. The manager was incredibly unprofessional, dismissive, and disrespectful. Very disappointed. I've experienced appointments being accidentally canceled, being placed on hold for 15+ minutes, dismissive attitudes, and staff giving inconsistent or inaccurate information. Most recently, I called to have a copy of my contact lens prescription emailed to me so I could purchase lenses while I was already at the store. I was told it would take 10-15 minutes, so I waited. After more than 20 minutes with no email, I called back. I was placed on hold again, and when someone finally answered, she asked for my date of birth. After I explained that I still hadn't received the email, she simply said they were busy and wouldn't be able to send it right away. I explained that I had already called earlier and was waiting at the store because I had been told it would only take 10-15 minutes. She then asked for my name, and after I gave it, she repeated my date of birth--but got the birth year wrong. It felt like she hadn't been listening and was just trying to dismiss my request. She eventually said she would send it "as soon as possible" because they were busy, but the rude attitude and lack of professionalism were disappointing. I understand that offices get busy, but clear communication, attention to detail, and respectful customer service should still be expected. I truly hope the front desk improves because the doctors are excellent, and it would be a shame for the overall patient experience to be affected by poor administrative service.

The next morning, the pain was getting worse and I was pretty desperate to get an immediate appointment into any optometry office. Most optometry offices open at 10am, but this one opens at 9am and I was lucky enough to get in for a 10:30 opening. Once I arrived, I got checked in pretty quickly. The staff there were all very pleasant and friendly. Soon after, I was in the exam room and Dr. Kimberly Haw came in. Dr. Haw was also very friendly and down to earth. I appreciated that she was very frank and straightforward about the potential level of injury that my eye could have sustained, yet also had a sense of humor that put me at ease. After examining my eye with some nifty gadgets, she was able to see that I had an abrasion on my cornea. She explained the condition, treatment plan - antibiotic drops, and things to look out for. I was originally just looking for ANY optometrist that would see me for my eye injury, but after my visit and positive experience today, I will return to Fremont Optometric Vision Care Center ongoing as a regular customer for my annual eye exams. Not that I plan to injure my eyes anymore, but if it happens again, Dr. Haw said to give their office a call as it is their practice to get people with eye injuries into the office ASAP for care. BTW, wear safety goggles when dealing with trees! I was just picking some dumb oranges when a random branch shot in at an angle right into my eyeball.

Of course they also do eye exams and contact lenses as well with an active lifestyle and two toddlers. I have mishaps with my glasses frequently and they always work hard to see if they can warranty my lenses or frames or both when they break. I even had a situation in which my frames broke and were discontinued so I thought my relatively new lenses would be useless, but they were able to find another set of frames that match the specs exactly. If you want a great eye exam from a friendly doctor, call and ask for Dr. Bahn. If you already have a prescription, I need help finding glasses and ask for Wendy.
