We told him what kind of frames we were interested in and he was able to showcase the frames that matched our descriptions. I could tell he really enjoys picking out frames for his customers because it was smiles all around. This review is long overdue, but great service deserves recognition. Hugo and Coco are simply the best! Rewind to 2014 when I hated glasses. I was wearing basic, bland frames from the eye doctor's office to get my eyes ready for Lasik. After Lasik, I never thought I'd be shopping for frames again...until I lost my favorite sunglasses. I have a really round, wide face that makes finding flattering and well-fitting glasses difficult, but Hugo came to the rescue! I was gravitating towards the kind of frames I've worn for as long as I can remember- inconspicuous, dark brown or tortoise shell- versatile but nothing that you'd think was especially cute or you'd even look twice at. However, Hugo said something along the lines of, "Glasses sit right on your face, and your face is the first thing people really look at. They should say something about you and who you are. Have fun with them! What are your favorite colors?" Dripping with skepticism, I told Hugo I needed something versatile- ahem, VERSATILE- that complimented my round and wide face, while he grabbed a handful of sunglasses that I would've never picked out myself. "Try these." Ok...hmm...I actually kinda like this one. This one's a bit much for me. This one isn't bad. This is cute but too small. OMG THIS IS ADORABLE!!...do you think I could pull this off?? Smiling and holding up a pair of gorgeous Lindberg rose and gold cat-eyed sunglasses, Hugo replied, "Of course, you can! I knew you would love these. They fit your face really well. This is such a fun, but retro-classic look that would look good with just about any outfit." Indeed, he was right. Refer to photos for versatility:) I've gotten tons of compliments on the sunglasses that Hugo picked out, and even a few years later, these glasses are one of the few things I never leave my house without. Hugo has also recently framed me with a pair of Lindberg blue light glasses for the office since I stare at a computer screen all day. I knew to trust him this time and didn't even bother looking around. I just let him do his magic, and of course, I ended up loving this pair as well. Oh, and who is this Coco that I mentioned at the beginning? Coco is the cherry on top of the whole experience at Eye Elegance- a sweet, extremely well-behaved Yorkie who brightens up just about everyone's day who walks through the door!...unless you're Robert T. apparently, who seems to have some sort of chip on his shoulder even though Coco is non-shedding and hypoallergenic lollzz. read more

I had a skiing accident with my sunglasses and my attempts to straighten weren't the best. They joyfully straightened the temples, replaced the nose pads, and rescrewed the frame together. All good. I've been a customer of Eye Elegance since Daniel opened the first store in the old Saks Pavilion (torn down now). I followed him to his store in Highland Village, and after spending many years living in other cities, I moved back to Houston recently. I was pleasantly impressed with his newest locations in Montrose and especially the one on Post Oak, which truly reminds me of the original boutique. As you walk around, you really appreciate the layout of the store, the lighting, and design. It is so easy to find the 'right' pair of eyeglasses and you're not lost in a sea of boring frames looking for that 'special' pair. Every pair they select to display is truly unique. Hugo and Daniel are the real gems of this store. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed. I recently had custom shaped rimless lenses made to suit my face and design preferences, and even after 30 years of buying eyeglasses from Eye Elegance, I continue to be impressed with the way they keep up with the latest technology. I am also impressed with Hugo's incredible ability to 'fit' my various pairs of eyeglasses. He always gets them just right. And when I come back a month or two later after messing them up, he always makes them perfect again! I didn't get this kind of high quality service or the high quality of the lens fit and finish at other 'high end' shops that I visited while I was living in Dallas or Miami. You come here for the expensive, hard-to-find designer frames from Europe. But don't accept the promotional (get second lens for "free")Varilux lens because they are priced way higher (like 500 dollars over) than local competitors that offer the same exact thing. If you are allergic to dogs, then don't go to this shop because the lady wants to keep a dog in the store. Also, the guy who answers the phones likes to argue and doesn't believe that the prices of their lens are set higher than competitors or that he doesn't believe that competitors would offer a much more competitive price. Come on now we know that the rent in the Galleria is a lot higher than most places in Houston. Wealthier people generally will spend more on items depending on the location than those that aren't and that is what Elegance is counting on. He also doesn't remember what he said before or makes up things in his head as if he is directly talking to me. I had to correct him on this odd error. He denied it of course. The dude that sent the rebuttal down below made up the story about explaining that I didn't qualify for the Varilux lens package. Of course I qualified because all that is required is to get the transitions lens for one pair and possibly buy both frames from his company, so it's a moot point. I already knew of this promotional deal from my talks with other optical companies. Again this dude is talking to me in his head. What was really discussed was the quality of Varilux over Zeiss and why Elegance was charging so much for the same product. Also, I never spent 4 hours at that sister store. Maybe two hours but certainly not four hours. This guy likes to exaggerate in addition to making up stuff (talking in his head). read more

I recently purchased a new pair of Robert Marc eyeglasses from Hugo and could not have been happier with my experience. The selection of eyewear is great and Hugo was extremely helpful in providing options suitable for my face. For Asians or those that need an "alternate fit" frame, the store is able to modify plastic frames to include nose pads thereby greatly expanding options for those of you with vertically challenged nose bridges such as myself. Very disappointed in the service at this store. I chose frames that were $480. Then, on top of that they convince me to get progressive lenses explaining that while I would pay more I would be happy. I am then told that they were kind enough to give me 10% off the entire purchase because they are "so nice". With the discount my total was $860. I was told that when the glasses came they would help me get used to the progressive lenses. This help was minimal. I had to figure it out. Then I was told they would call me in a week to see how I was doing. I also asked them to check on something regarding another pair of glasses of mine. You would think that with the amount I spent this follow up would not be hard. Needless to say no one ever called to see how I was adjusting to my new lenses. As for my other glasses, I had to call back and I was told they would call me back by end of day. NO ONE CALLED. It was Hugo who provided me with this poor service and the funny thing is that he asked me before I left to write a good Yelp review and mention he was better than the other workers. I guess he knows how bad he is so he has to beg for praise! Oh my gosh! You guys can't admit you were wrong. First off, the dates are wrong. Also, I said I was still getting used to the lenses when I went back in. No matter what, I WAS TOLD by Hugo he would call in a week to check in. I never expected that but I thought it was great service that I would be called. HE NEVER CALLED. If you say you will, you should. If he wasn't going to do it he should have never said anything. Also, yes the glasses were adjusted and cleaned for free but I DID OFFER to pay. Nonetheless with what I spent adjusting 4 glasses shouldn't have been an issue. As for the part I was asking about, Hugo NEVER apologized or said he dropped the ball. He just said he'd call back and got off the phone quickly. I had no idea what was going on. Also, Hugo DID NOT leave me a message. I still have no idea what is the situation with the part I'm looking for. Yes, Hugo dropped the ball!!! I notice every time you guys get a bad review you don't take ownership of your mistakes.
