If I could give a zero i would... a month and counting and my glasses have not arrived. I have called every week for an update. On week 4 I get glasses didn't pass inspection and needed to be done. In order to get this response I called was placed on hold for 3 minutes got disconnected.... called back no one answered and went to the location. I was told that an employee was suppose to call me 3 days earlier with an update - never happened. I informed them I will call every day until I have my glasses. That I expect them to contact the lab for a ship date since it has been month since my exam and payment for glasses. Totally unacceptable as a business. read more

I went for service on 11/16/2024 for my son. A vision exam is FULLY covered on my insurance. I even made written notes on all of my forms saying that I only consented to what was covered under the vision plan. Before I left, I confirmed that my balance was $0. I just received a bill in the mail for $68 for something called "Fit & Follow-Up Premium." I did NOT purchase glasses from this provider because their prices were outrageous, so how exactly do they feel entitled to charge a "Fit & Follow-Up Premium." NO glasses were fitted. There was NO follow-up. They also wouldn't provide the PD (pupillary distance) either, so I paid out of pocket at another provider to obtain this. This is absolutely unacceptable business practices. I patronized this business about a year ago. Dr. Major was amazing. The service I received was amazing. There was one hiccup and the only reason that I didn't give five stars. My prescription was supposed to include transition, it says it on the paper, but it does not. I thought to give it time but after several weeks of waiting and exposing the glasses to sunlight, it was evident that someone forgot it. It won't stop me from patronizing though. read more

I came here on a Friday morning, August 15th around 9:30am. And while I appreciated Dr. Archima Major being thorough throughout the exam, I can't help but feel like I was being swindled. The receptionist gave me a very weak greeting when I arrived and barely could answer any of my questions. She immediately asked for me my medical insurance card as she stated we'd need to do other routine tests using that insurance instead of my vision insurance, when all I asked for a simple eye exam. I asked if it would be covered by my insurance and she said she was not sure. Umm well how about you find out? I'm sorry, call me spoiled but my previous eye doctor's staff would take the time to call the insurance company and check. It's not like they were busy at all. After the exam Dr. Major stated that my prescription was way to high and she was lowering it drastically. I'm no eye doctor but I doubt my vision has improved that much if anything it's gotten worst. I was also rather perturbed by the lack of reasonably priced frames and I find it ridiculous that none of the frames are labeled with prices, so you literally have to keep asking the receptionist how much each frame is and she has to look it up in the computer. (What kind of nonsense is that? ). Needless to say I won't be buying frames from there or returning and when I asked if I could buy my frames elsewhere and use the allowance my vision insurance gives me for frames the receptionist stated that I had to buy it from there because you could not get an exam in one place and frames from another? Really well I thought you billed my medical insurance for this and didn't use my vision insurance at all? I'll just have to see about that. read more

Dr. Major was very personable but the wait time was insane (1 hr before seeing the doctor)! I came here to get my eye discomfort checked out (watering, pain). The staff misunderstood and almost started an eye exam. I corrected her and then she brought me to the exam room to wait for the doctor. I waited 30 minutes and then went to the front desk to check on what was going on. They said the doctor was with another patient whose appointment went long. I went back to the exam room and it was another half hour before the doctor saw me. Once she came in, she was personable and explained everything great. I was very frustrated that my appt started 1 hour after my true appointment time! read more

I have been coming to Eye Innovations for a year now and I absolute love the staff! From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed! At my prior eye doctor in Havertown the staff was always so rude, rushing me around, and always had sarcastic tone in the office and on the phone. This is not the case at Eye Innovations! Irene at the front desk is so friendly, knowledgeable, makes you feel incredibly comfortable, and she has the best smile! (I even know her name! At the prior place I knew zero people and went there for nearly 5 YEARS!) Dr. Major is wonderful and so funny! She also is extremely knowledgeable and sets a comfortable and easy going tone to the office! Every time I see her it's like being with an old friend and I've only met her twice! I just left the office at Eye Innovations and I was completely satisfied. Usually I read all the reviews prior to making any purchase but this time I didn't for some reason. After reading the previous reviews, I didn't experience any negative service. In fact I felt, extremely comfortable. Dr. Major was very professional, as were the two ladies at the reception desk, Ms. Irene and Ms. Rosalind. Test were run which I am glad of because this lays a basis for your care. I was given results with great explanation of what the meant. By the time I left, I no longer felt new but like I found MY Optometrist. As far as price, you get what you pay for. I want Service, Knowledge, and Trust, not a traveling optometrist that offers cheap service, product, and may not be there in a month or so. Kudos to Dr. Major and her staff. To be continued. P.S. I would never go back to this office! Avoid it like the plague! The doctor forces procedures and tests that I specifically stated I DID NOT WANT! Went in for a routine eye exam with children. Specifically said I did not want anything other than routine VISION - just a script with any changes in correction. Got glaucoma, circulation, pupil dilation - for 3 of us in the family. The staff confused notations in my children's charts and had a discussion about it within earshot. The scripts were not signed and they had contradictory information, so they could not be filled. I should have done my homework and read the reviews first. Several complaints on Google about the same treatment. I went to her office to have her pull the insurance claim so that we could go to another optometrist to get correct information - she refused. Both children had same exam yet one was charged $112 co-pay and one was charge $86 co-pay. $200.50 later and we have an issue...no script for corrective lenses and a fight with the insurance company and credit card company. Nothing makes sense here. Staff is rude! And inconsiderate! We waited a full hour after our appointment to be seen, and then 2 hours after that for dilation we specifically had said WE DID NOT WANT. In the spirit of full disclosure I actually met the owner of this practice at a social event more than a year ago. When I found out she had an eye practice I promised to check it out (since I wasn't happy with my current place). So I finally made it over for an appointment and decide to write a review. My experience was absolutely mind blowing. It was the most detailed eye exam I have ever experience. Not only was no stone left unturned but Dr. Major explained what she was doing and why...every step of the way. I left with some very good tips and a comfort that I had received thorough examination. Additionally her administration staff as well as her sales staff were all very helpful, pleasant easy to talk too. I was also happy with the selection of fashion and sports protection frames available in the location. The staff was able to consult with me on selecting my everyday frames as well as talk to me about frames that I could get to wear when I go target shooting (a hobby of mine). Finally the sales team took a good look at my insurance and helped me get the most out of my coverage. For example I never knew that my insurance covered transitions lenses. So I was able to get them without any additional out of pocket charge. Obviously that's more dollars in their pocket but it also was of help to me. So overall great experience and I would definitely recommend this practice. read more

I had a fabulous experience here. The only reason they are getting 4 out of 5 stars is the receptionist was a little rough over the phone. Also I wasn't sure why my contact lens fitting wasn't billed to insurance. Which meant I spent $120 instead of my suspected $20 copay. I will submit the claim to my insurance company later. When I arrived the receptionist was no where near as rough as she sounds over the phone. She apologized for the wait. It seemed like they scheduled 3 wild children at the end of the day. She was also helpful in giving me coupons for eye drops. The doctor's assistant was very thorough in his testing and took extra time to explain what each machine did. I was never left in the dark about what they were going to do to my eye next. He also has a wonderful sense of humor and great customer service. Dr. Majors is amazing! She really knows her stuff and really gave me a lesson on my eyes and how they connect to my body. I can tell she loves her field. She told me to smile in the mirror everyday and how much water to drink (80 oz!) She has a holistic approach without seeming condescending. She asked repeatedly if I had any questions and took her time to explain her reasoning. It wasn't the normal "You have dry eye. Here is a prescription experience." I'm used to having the "Jiffy Lube" of eye care experience where its very in and out. This was a very different experience. Secane PA. Dr Major was very through with the exam and reviewing the results. However, The office staff was challenged to do the billing correctly. They billed the exam to my medical instead of my vision insurance. It took over a month for them to get it right. If that wasn't enough, the were equally challenged with billing my vision insurance for my lenses. No one called to inform me they were having trouble with getting my prescription filled. Had I not called, I assume I would still be waiting, another 3 weeks. I called on multiple occasions, no one would answer the phone. Left messages. Had to almost robo call to get someone. Called my insurance provider who had me on the line with them explaining to them how to proceed, another 2 weeks. IAfter more than 8 weeks I went to retrieve my eyeglasses as they hadn't even sent them to the lab. Requested my deposit, was told it would have to be mailed to me, Seriously!! Inefficient business practices. If 1/2 star could be provided that's all I would give it. I use to work for her she is very much so racist to all black Americans I started working for her maybe 4 years or 5 years ago me and a white gentlemen before I started she did a very thorough back ground check on me and check all my references, I've been an optician for about 7 years prior to me applying ,the back ground check and the references wasnt the problem the problem was when I started talking to the young gentlemen Who had no experience in optical he told me she didn't even check any of his references and she didn't do a background check but I didn't say anything I proceeded to do my job , A couple of months go by I see cops coming In the office to talk her in the back , the white gentlemen leaves to go to the store and never comes back im getting confused at this point the police officer comes to the front to talk to me about stolen items in the store I'm mind boggled I had no clue about any stolen items in the store , the police officer says welp since the young man left and never came back we know who did it , but Dr major wasn't happy with that because she STILL thought it was me she wanted me to take a Lie detector test I was all for it until the police office told me it was pointless , I quit the job and never looked back a couple days after that the police District of Drexel Hill call me to inform me they caught the guy that stolen all her stuff and locked him up , but guess who didn't call to apologize miss major ... she's rude and disrespectful if it was zero star I will definitely give it to her , and she was very rude and disrespectful to the elderly lady the worked there as well Smh No Star read more

My understanding was that I was receiving whatever exam my eye insurance covers, however following the exam i was hit with 2 copays from my health insurance and was told that they type of exam they gave me was not covered by the eye insurance. My children loved Dr Major as did I she was GREAT!! The staff was AMAZING as well, friendly and helpful! The frames were GREAT.. Even though my children wanted Very expensive name brand glasses. I had the same experience as previous posts. Eye doctor was decent but the staff / business side was an absolute joke. They were rude and had no clue what they were talking about. Told me my glasses would be ready in 1 week, didn't receive them for over 3 weeks. I called 4x to check on the status and the first thing said to me "if you didn't get a text or email they aren't in" until the next time i called (without receiving said text/email) and they had them ... picked them up the next day and no one was there to fit the glasses and not a single employee could have cared any less. My boyfriend went to see Dr. Major after experiencing a random blind spot in his eye. The two of us needed to take off work for the day (I needed to drive him to/from the appointment), and we were told that it was an emergency and needed to be seen right away. When we went to the appointment, she couldn't tell what was wrong with his eye, and ordered a bunch of tests. She kept making a point of telling us that it was worrying her, and it could be something very bad causing the blind spot. A few days later the test results came back, and we went back to the doctor. We were again told that she didn't know what the issue was, and ordered more tests. She also gave him eye drops that she thought might work. We were told that he would be notified when the test results came back. We were never notified. He called after a week and a half and told she was on vacation. He waited another week and called again, at which point he was told that she was "bogged down with work" upon returning from her vacation, and would reach out to him soon. Two weeks went by, and still nothing. He called again and was told, "it's back to school time, it's very important for kids to have their eyes checked". So a routine eye exam is more important than a blind spot with unknown cause?! After that he tried calling one more time, in an effort to avoid having to get the expensive tests done by another doctor, and was told that the doctor was "busy". She still hasn't called. It's now November and well past back to school time. He never received the test results for tests that cost hundred of dollars. I consider this incident to be theft and negligence. read more

I had a poor experience here like most of the rest. I've tried to get contacts before when I was in high school, 10-15 years ago, and I wasn't able to be fitted correctly for some reason. I always got dry eyes or the contacts made me feel like I was underwater. I saw Dr Major about 4-5 years ago for a lense fitting. She was pleasant at first, but she seemed to lose patience with me after I had to come back a few times to give feedback about the trial lenses and how they weren't working for me. I did let her know that I had trouble with these before and she gave me the impression it wasn't a problem to try some things out. Guess that was a false statement. At one point she recommended a type of lense and I recall her trying to remind me that I would have be be diligent about taking them out. When she was educating me about those types of lenses she could have done a better job because she had said that if lenses are left in your eye that don't allow oxygen in, your eye could die. Maybe that's true over a period of time, but it's super important to choose your words wisely when explaining something like this. After all, that sounds pretty serious. She didn't help me at all. I didn't buy anything there and to this day, I still don't have contacts. Went to another eye doctor and got a script for glasses years later. Don't go here. Plain and simple. read more

I found this provider on my eye insurance website (VSP) AND IT WAS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The selection is limited and the service was awful and on top of that they tried to charge over $244.00 for a pair of plastic frame eyeglasses. I am in the insurance business so I was aware of what they were doing. So I went down the road to Eye to Eye Contact 1404 West Chest Pike PA 19083. Michelle R. was excellent warm and helpful and actually applied the discounts I was entitled to since I have insurance. I had to find a new eyeglass place and eye doctor. The eye doctor was very nice, however, the staff was extremely inconsiderate and did not really know what was going on. They told me my glasses would be ready in less than a week, it took over two weeks. They didn't even call me. Every time I would call to ask if they were ready their first response was, "well did you get a text." Ok so I'm waiting for a text or a call. After about 2.5 weeks I called and what do ya know....my glasses are ready. I go there and they hand me my glasses that I paid a lot of money for in a random case with no cloth or anything, no one even there to fit the glasses to my face. It made me question the authenticity of the brand, then the woman handed me a random purple Gucci case that was clearly not the case that belonged to my glasses she just pulled one out of the back....no. Backtracking to the actual appointment, they made me redo a part of the exam about 4 times because they didn't know what they were doing. I spent almost 3 hours there and it was pretty bad. I will absolutely never come back. When I did come back they conveniently told me I owed another 10$. I probably didn't and already paid it the first time I was there but I literally needed to leave I just gave her the 10$. Actually the most infuriating place and they have no glasses on the walls. I've been going to Eye Innovations since April 2017; it was recommended to me by an associate. The office is very clean, welcoming, staff is polite however where there's good there's always room for criticism. For starters, my appointment was scheduled for 9:30am; I didn't leave until 1:45pm! The same thing happened to my husband. The front desk moves extremely slow. There is always an issue with the computer, the system is down, they can't seem to see things on the ledger etc. I had an eye exam and had an exam for contacts. I was given a trial pair three times because the prescription was incorrect. Finally when I returned to try another trial pair I was told I would have to pay $25 to get a new trial pair although they screwed up the script. ok fine I paid the $25 and paid over $200 to order my contacts; that occurred on September 30, 2017. It is now November 1, 2017 4:45pm and I have yet to receive my contacts. I contacted the office to check the status of my contacts. Mysteriously they can't find that I paid for my contacts on their "ledger." I am truly truly upset with this business. Theres no way after a month no one from the office has contacted me about my contacts but yet took my money. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. It's no way I should have to wait for hours in the office and wait weeks for my eyeglasses and contacts. I think my husband and I will find another optometrist to go to because I refuse to spend my money somewhere and not receive quality customer service. read more

I encountered a number of problems and issues with Eye Innovations with their policies/practices. 1) Do you like playing guess the price? Well you are in luck, you come to the right place. None of the frames have prices on them. So a customer has to ask an EI employee what the price is for each and every single frame they want to even consider. Eye Innovations employee has to "look in the system" to give you a price. How absurd is that? I remarked it is a hassle to ask each time what each item cost. Paula (EI receptionist/salesperson) remarked "It is not a hassle for me.". Well, Paula it is a hassle to a customer to have to ask you for the price of everything. This is the only place where the price of a frame is not readily displayed. Actually, it is a big hassle if a customer has to ask you the price of each and every frame. This is retailing 101. No one is interested in playing guess the price game. 2) Frames kept under lock and key. If the lack of price transparency doesn't irritate you enough try having to ask EI employee to unlock a frame so you can look at it. Who wants the hassle? I just take the script and have it filled at the one of the clubs (Costco, BJs, Sam sect). You are not made to feel like a criminal and I will save at least 30% to 50%. 3) Eye Innovations will ask for sensitive info and claim it is required by law. They make you fill out forms and require your Driver's License. I inquired why they need a Driver's License to perform an eye exam? The response was it was because it was required by law. Which naturally begs the question - " What law is that?". This is where I get a Deer in the Headlights look from Paula. "Well that is our policy." Wait a second you just said it was required by law now you are saying it is your policy? When challenged about the claim a DL is required by law EI employee quickly back peddles and changes her story. Asking for Drivers License is an invasion of privacy, as is, asking for SSN. The patient's insurance card is sufficient you don't need a copy of a patient's DL. If a patient is paying completely by cash or CC then you shouldn't even be asking. Please don't hide behind a non-existent law to extract sensitive information from a patient. 4)Eye Innovations shouldn't be asking for and scanning in a patient's Driver's License and/or Social Security card. A patient is needlessly exposing himself to the potential for identity theft. There is no assurance the scanned image will not end up in the wrong hands. What sort of encryption do the use? Is it password protected? Does their system been compromised with a virus, malware ect? Basic idea is your personal information is entrusted to an organization that may not have the people, process or technological know how to protect you personal information. 5) Eye Innovation refused to do even simple adjustments. My 5 year old daughter got a prescription filled here. After a day of wearing her new glasses the sharp and hard plastic nose pad was so uncomfortable and painful. I asked Paula if she could replace the nose pad the eye glass came with a softer one. Paula's response "We don't do that, try Lens Crafters." Are you kidding me? Even the simplest adjustment and follow up care is pawned off to someone else. Doesn't inspire confidence. The only redeeming quality of Eye Innovation is Dr Major who provides a complete and through eye exam. read more

I am giving this a 1 star because 0 stars is not an option. My wife and I spent $1,356 for a pair of glasses for me and glasses and contacts for her. Since I am disabled and it's difficult for me to get around they told me it would be okay for my wife to pick up my glasses and I would only have to go back if there was an issue. The issue is - I don't see any better out of the new glasses than I do out of my old glasses and everything is blurry when my wife wears her new glasses. The problem with her glasses may have been noticed when she picked them up but they had her put in her contacts first therefore she was unable to check her glasses when she picked them up. My wife went back to the shop in an attempt to correct the problem but Dr. Major refused to even come out of the back (I guess hiding) to discuss the issue. They told her there are no returns and only offered for her to come back to speak with the person (she was off that day) who could train her on how to use her glasses despite the fact she's been wearing glasses for years. She didn't need training she needed customer service and Eye Innovations refused to provide any service. We are disputing all charges and will NEVER go there again (and neither should anyone reading this review)!!! read more

First time patients...please save yourself the time and trip to this office. They will withhold your prescription in order for you to return and purchase their contacts/glasses with the prices set at retail. When I first walked in two weeks ago, I was greeted nicely by a mature woman at the front desk. She asked for my vision insurance AND my medical insurance. This immediately seemed fishy to me, but since I was already there I just decided to stay for my ROUTINE EYE EXAM. Apparently what the doctor does is perform the routine eye exam AND additional exams VOLUNTARILY. Then they will bill your medical insurance because the CPT codes they use isn't covered by your vision plan. I work in healthcare with insurance contracts so I know all about this. I haven't gotten a bill yet but base on the current reviews I've read recently this is what they're doing. I'm just waiting for my insurance company to hit me with a bill so I can appeal it. They ordered me trial pair contacts which was ordered two weeks ago and still haven't been delivered. In the meantime I'm running low on my daily disposables so I called for my prescription. A young girl at the front desk responded, who by the way isn't very personable in person, nor is she knowledgable. She pretty much relays everything the doctor tells her. She was the one who actually checked me out the day of my exam and she didn't know what contacts the doctor wanted to put me on so she had to go ask the doctor. As soon as my exam was completed, everything should have been written down and put into a folder, usually a Manila folder. The folder should have then been handed to the young lady and all the information should have been right there in front of her. She gave me the price for the contacts and it was ridiculous! I asked the young lady to look up a specific brand that I wear and she couldn't find it. She told me it's not in her system. 1-Day Acuvue Moist is a popular brand so I knew she didn't look hard enough. Anywho, two weeks later I still don't have my prescriptions or contacts and they won't give me my script basically because I don't want to return to purchase their contacts. And please make sure you're knowledgeable on your vision plan because they will try to charge you $90 for the contact lens fitting. The girl told me I couldn't use my vision plan to cover the cost if I choose not to purchase contacts through them. This is not true! If you have $175 in benefits allowance, it can be applied to the fitting cost depending on your insurance. But if you choose not to order contacts through their office you'll just lose the additional allowance you have left after the fitting. To get the maximum advantage of the your benefits allowance, the insurance recommends you purchase everything through the eye doctor BUT it's optional. My insurance covers my routine exam AND my fitting but I'm choosing not to use the rest of my allowance towards their contacts. That's my loss and I'm choosing to take that loss! So after all that is said, I just want my prescription and I wish they had better staff who are more knowledgeable with insurance and provide better customer service. They're all about the money and organizations that are unethical and improper will lose their customers quick. read more

I went for an eye exam and found Dr. Major very nice and she seemed through and competent, but somehow my prescription was so far from correct it's ludicrous. I had gone to another place to order glasses where the frames and lenses were cheaper and when I came back with the new glasses in hand and asked for a re-examination the refused. They also refused to compare the new lenses with my current lenses. They just kept saying that Visionworks was in the wrong, not them, and inferred that it was my fault for being cheap. The staff was VERY rude. I went straight back to Visionworks and explained that Dr. Major would not be retesting my eyes and so they gave me a free eye exam - GRATIS! And they are refunding the difference in the lenses, since I only need a single vision, and NOT a progressive lens. GO TO VISIONWORKS! read more

Can I give 0 stars? The doctor was great, I left with a pair after being fitted. After a few days, my contacts became very dry and uncomfortable. I called to see what could be done, as I had placed an order for these contacts, and didn't hear back for a week. The receptionist said to use eye drops, which I was. I called back again to see what could be done, again it took a week to hear back and, of course, I missed the call. I sent an email and never heard back. Finally, I called and spoke with an extremely rude woman, who told me the doctor was away and nothing could be done. I had to wear my glasses for 2 days and driving in the sun is a problem for me without sunglasses. I was forced to pick up the uncomfortable and expensive contacts, and was met with attitude when I got them. I will NEVER be back. And I've been asking for my prescription so I could use 1-800-contacts because this place won't price match, and have not heard a thing. Tried calling but they're closed Tuesday. read more

Great eye doc- fabulous sense of humor & very knowledgable . Everyone in the office is so kind & accommodating.

So I found Eye Innovations through a website. Now I wish I had not. My husband needed to get an eye exam and new glasses. In the beginning everything was going smooth. The receptionist, technician and even Dr. Majors was doing a great job. Friendly service and open environment. The glasses my husband orders was started to peel and loose color. He called and explained the problem and they told him to come up to the office. He did and they said they will order him another pair and call when ready for pick up. Weeks go by...no call. I call them and firs the Dr was with a paitent...okay I left my number awaiting Dr. Major's call...no call again. I called spoke to the receptionist and first she didnt recall what I was talking about, then says oh now I remember. We will order his glasses and call you when ready...Do you think we rec'vd a call yet!!!!!!!!! NOPE!!!! So not its 8/7/2012 and the office is closed on Tuesday and I and my husband is getting frustrated. I will continue to call until my husband rec'vds his free frames and I will not be going to this office for nothing. We try to support local, small business and this is what happens. My EYE Dr. helped save my life. I went in for an eye appointment for some new contacts. I meet with Dr. Major and she had such a great demeanor. Very funny and made me very comfortable. I have some very bad habits with my contacts ands she did not talk down to me like others have in the past. She talked to me in a very caring way to let me know I was hurting my eyes. During the exam she told me that I was very low in Iron and I should call my Dr. today and let him know what she said. The fact is I have had a lot of health problem though out my life and no one has ever told me I was low in iron so I did not think much over it. Two days later I wound up in the emergency room with many Dr.'s and nurses around me trying to get me back into a normal state. They kept saying they do not know what's wrong and that the tests do not show much. I took off my mask and told them that my Dr had told me two days ago that she thinks I was low in Iron. The main Dr said, "that's it, he needs Iron." They went that route and that worked and slowed down my heart. The next day the Dr asked me why my Dr did not prescribe me anything for the low Iron. I said it was my eye Dr and she told me to call my Dr right away that day but I did not. He said to me "your eye Dr my have saved your life". The fact is I am very grateful to her and all of what she did for me. I will NEVER go any where for my eye then with Dr. Major. Thank you for everything.
