Couldn't find one (digital photography had already started to take over, photo shops were a dying breed). Looked for one near my office and found the Enlarger on the web. Not knowing anything about them, I drove over to check out their facilities, hoping for the best. If you remember photo shops from back in the day, not all of them were good. Some only wanted to print 4" x 6" prints off your rolls. No single prints. No size changes. Some glossy only, some matte only. Others took forever. Some used 2nd rate paper. I go to a number of signing events and usually pre-plan and order my 8" x 10" photos on Shutterfly. Sometimes I can't wait a week to get my pictures. This was one of those occasions. I bring in my digital photo on a CD and Jim, the owner says, "Let's take a look!" We loaded my photo on to his Mac. While both of us looked at the screen, Jim helped me crop and adjust the color quality so that I knew what the photo would look like before he printed. Just three or four of my photos needed slight editing. He didn't charge extra for doing this (I still recommend that you edit your photos at home first). I dropped off my small order in the morning and received my 8" x 10" prints in the afternoon on the same day! Jim and his wife at the Enlarger have saved me a few times. The Enlarger is capable of doing digital editing, retouch and repair of old photos, and can even make a life size blowup cutout of you mounted on poster stock or foam core! I've only used them to print up some 8" x 10" photos. They use high quality paper and the color on the pictures were brilliant. If your order is small and not too complex, they might be able to turn it around on the same day! I got my pictures, did I get my girls? Yes. Once I fixed the image with his advice he said, "I can get that done in two days." and he delivered! I placed the order midday on a Wednesday and it was ready for pickup by 2:00PM on Friday. Pick up was seamless. He knew exactly who I was without introducing myself, he was friendly, full of personality, and so sweet. He unrolled the backdrop to show me his work and it was PERFECT! His price was cheaper than I imagined especially since this was a last minute request. I knew that I placed this order last minute and I knew I was an amateur with the design, but Z made my vision into reality. Z, thank you so much for everything. Your work is impeccable! Z was able to help me make each of our 12 players their own card, which I then packaged as a team set and gave each player within a homemade/DIY sleeve. My stole was done THE NEXT DAY which is crazy because a lot of places said it would take several days or even weeks to complete and I needed it fast because I was taking my grad photos that following saturday. This next part is kind of embarrassing but it must be mentioned...I mixed up their hours and went to pick it up on friday at 5:03pm but they had just closed at 5pm. I panicked because I was literally having people come down to help me with my photoshoot the next day and the shop is closed on the weekends. I called and messaged them on yelp explaining the mistake I made. Karen found my phone number and called me asking if I would be able to come back to their shop later that evening because they would be out all morning the next day. Jason drove back and opened the doors just so that I could get my stole before my pictures. Since the new owner took over, the level of professionalism and reliability has changed dramatically. My last three visits in November were all problematic. On one morning, the owner arrived about eight minutes late, and another customer was waiting with me. On the other two mornings, I arrived at 9:00 AM (their posted opening time) and the store was still closed at around 9:12 AM. I never saw the owner arrive on those days, and I eventually had to leave because I couldn't wait indefinitely. I have photos documenting these late openings. These late openings were not isolated mistakes. They formed a clear pattern over multiple visits. After failing to pick up my mail during these three visits, I stopped going in person because I could no longer trust that the business would open at its posted hours. Because of these repeated delays, I asked the new owner to confirm a 9 AM pickup time for my remaining mail. I wasn't asking for anything outside their posted business hours. I even gave a wide range of possible days. Despite that, my messages were ignored for two full business days, even though I replied within a couple of hours during their business hours. When I finally received a response, it was a single word "Monday" with no apology, no explanation, and no acknowledgment of the previous delays or missed openings. The communication was consistently cold, minimal, and unprofessional. Update: I went in on 1/26/2026 to pick up my remaining mail. The owner arrived at 8:58 AM, and I was finally able to collect everything. I asked for a one‑month refund because I was unable to access my mailbox on two separate mornings in November. I waited until around 9:10-9:12 AM both times, and the store never opened while I was there. When I requested a refund, the owner responded by saying, "I called you," even though I never spoke with her. Regardless of whether she called, the issue was that I physically showed up during posted business hours and could not access the mailbox I was paying for. The time I lost waiting outside cannot be recovered, and her response showed no understanding of that point. This experience is completely different from the reliable service I received for years under the previous owners. After 8-9 years as a customer, I ultimately decided to cancel my account because the service under the new ownership no longer meets basic expectations. Everything in this review is based on my actual experience, with photos and message timestamps to support it. I also want to note that the current 4.6 rating on Yelp was built over many years by the previous owners, George and Kay, who were consistently reliable and professional. My recent experience reflects the new ownership, not the service that earned those earlier reviews.
