The latest frame I purchased from Eye On Vision Optometry in January of 2022.
    Michael W.

Context: I both got my eyes examined here and order my latest pair of glasses here (January 2022). My insurance is accepted here. I saw Dr. Owyang for my examination. She was very polite, respectful, and professional. Her and all her staff are very knowledgeable when it comes to eyes, glasses, and the care of both. Dr. Owyang uses modern technology for examinations (read: I can get the inside of my eyes checked without needing to dilate my pupils now, thankfully!) which I really appreciate greatly! I feel like there's a lot of great glasses options and found a set a frame that I liked here! This place is definitely my regular optometrist now!

Original (green) on the left, the updated lens (red) on the right. They tried to blame the color on me for "not specifying" the lens color.
    Harry S.

I've asked them to switch my sunglasses lens to the prescribed sunglasses lens. However, after two weeks of wait, they put in the wrong color; from green to red. The receptionist insisted it was the correct color until I drove all the way back from home after the glasses hurting my eyes. THEY WERE GONNA MAKE ME PAY FOR ADDITIONAL LENS THEY MISORDERED! Both receptionists and optometrist kept saying "sorry for your inconvenience" but every time I pushed her apology towards her negligence, both gave me an anxious silence. I even flat out asked whose fault it was, and again, unprofessional blame-shifting and silence instead of a simple "Sorry, we messed up." After a few minutes of a confusing argument with the receptionist who refused to take the blame for neglecting inspection (she's not colorblind by the way), I had to wait another three weeks! And the updated lens IS NOT EVEN PUT INCORRECTLY TO THE FRAME! I'd go back and argue with them, but I'm done revisiting that place. Friendly reminder to ask for lens price (around additional $150-300, I believe) unwritten anywhere in the establishment! If they ask for their receipt, it won't list anything but the total price so you'd have to do math in your head to review your purchase. Sweet.

We've never felt rushed and have always been given plenty of time to ask questions. More than once, they were able to accomodate a last-minute scheduling request (college kid home with a very limited window of time) and Doctor Ben stayed late to see him. How incredibly kind and customer-service oriented! Their office is especially lovely, with a soothing atmosphere, and parking is plentiful. They have a great selection of frames and a knowledgeable staff ready to assist. They are also quite reasonably-priced! I wholeheartedly give them five stars and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new source for eye care and vision needs.

I'm not sure why this place has high reviews but I had a ridiculously bad experience with this…read morestore. I had them make lenses for a frame I provided. The first time around they got the edge polish wrong (after 2 weeks of processing!). They had promised me matte and it came back glossy. I wore the glasses and was like whoa! Why's there's light shimmering all around my eyes? I gave it back to them, and grumpily the person said "ok we'll send it back". Then she informed me oh they don't even offer the matte finish! Then how come I was offered that in the first place? She had no idea. So she sends it back to change the finish to "satin". Well, a few days later they call me and say hey, we have to change the lens altogether, which will be another 2 weeks. Ok so after more than a month, I get my glasses back. They still feel shiny. But anyway, I get back to my life, but I keep feeling there's still some issue. I keep seeing reflections of stuff. And if someone takes pictures of me they see the flash instead of my eyes. What's going on? I finally figure it out - this lens doesn't have anti-reflective coatings. So I take it back to Cambridge. This time they say oh you declined anti-reflective. But the fact is I had shown them my previous glasses - which *do* have anti-reflective - and told them to make it the same way. They had taken a good look at it, and told me it had anti-reflective. Then why do they say I declined? Well who knows!!! Then they call me back again in 2 days and say hey you are out of our 90 day limit, so they won't do anything. They will neither fix the glasses nor refund the money. Later that afternoon I asked to speak to a doctor because a nearby optical store told me that their doctors will fix this issue for me even if the staff won't. Well, they wouldn't have a doctor speak to me. "They're busy". I have worn glasses for about 35 years of my life'. Gone through many frames and lenses. Not once did I have so much trouble with an optometry store. Not one single time. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Lots of good optometry stores in this area.

I have lived all over the Bay Area and I STILL go back to her. There were a few times I had gone to other eye doctors closer to my place of residence, I still chose to go back to Dr. Lisa. Why? Because of her customer service, professionalism, she's efficient, I feel GOOD when I go see her, and that's an important feeling to have. What's great is that she is very accomodating and getting an appointment in is easy. Sometimes even the same day. There have been a few times when I had contact lens emergencies, and she would leave a few samples out for me until my new orders came in! Isn't that so nice???? No other eye doctor that I've been to has done this for me. It's spring now and my eye a couple of weeks ago had a weird bubble/blister on the WHITE part of the eye (I was rubbing my eyes too hard, yeah gross right?)... I freaked out, thought I had to go to the emergency room, and decided to call Dr. Lisa. She got on the phone w me and I sent her a picture of my eye. She told me it was nothing serious and it would go away on its own with eye drops and a cold compress.. and it worked!! I will say this: Going to Dr. Lisa for yourself or your whole family is a great decision. You will be taken cared of. She takes her work seriously and she has a presence about her that is calming and confident. She has encouraged me to try getting a LASIK consult, and she gave me a few recommendations from great colleagues. I will be doing that soon! (as long as I don't chicken out) Thanks Dr. Lisa for being my eye doctor all these years!!!

Before seeing Dr. Lam, my eyes were constantly interfering with my daily life. I was always uncomfortable, and it felt like my red, swollen eyes were the first thing people noticed about me. Since I began seeing Dr. Lam in June 2025, everything has changed. She has been instrumental in helping me find a treatment regimen that actually works. My experience with her has been completely different from any optometrist I've seen in the past. From the moment I sat down for my first exam, I felt at ease. She is warm, personable, and truly takes the time to listen and understand your concerns. What sets Dr. Lam apart is her thoughtful, comprehensive approach to care. My partner and I visited Lux Eyewear in Palo Alto because we needed a simple adjustment on my Matsuda glasses. Matsuda had recommended that we visit an authorized retailer for service, so that's exactly what we did. When we walked in, both employees were already assisting customers who had clearly been in the store before we arrived. We completely understood that and had no expectation of interrupting those interactions. We were greeted, told to look around, and happily did so while we waited. After spending some time looking through the Matsuda collection, it became obvious that we needed assistance. We waited. And waited. What was frustrating wasn't that the employees were already helping other customers--it was that over the next 15-20 minutes, there was never any effort to simply check in with us. At no point did anyone stop for 15 seconds to ask, "What brings you in today?" That simple question would have immediately told them whether they could help us, whether we needed to wait, or whether they couldn't assist us at all. Instead, we stood there for nearly 20 minutes with no idea whether anyone was ever going to acknowledge us. One employee repeatedly walked back and forth with the family she was helping, including bringing them directly over to the Matsuda display where we were standing. We actually had to move out of the way because they were looking at frames in the same area, but even then, there was still no acknowledgment that we had been standing there waiting. Another employee got up from her consultation and walked over to the printer. While she was up, she acknowledged another customer who was browsing glasses, chatted with him for a moment, got him what he needed from a drawer, and then walked back toward her desk. Her chair was positioned so that, in order to get back to it, she had to walk directly toward us. Instead of simply looking up and asking if we needed help, or even acknowledging that we were standing there waiting, she kept her head down, avoided making eye contact with us entirely, and went right back to what she was doing. Maybe there was another explanation, but in that moment it genuinely felt like she was intentionally avoiding us, and it was incredibly uncomfortable. Only after all of that did someone finally come over and say, "Thank you for being so patient. Go ahead and sign yourselves in just in case someone else walks in after you. I mean, I'll remember you were here, but just in case someone else walks in after you." After standing there for nearly 20 minutes, that was honestly the final straw. We decided to leave. I don't automatically jump to the conclusion that poor customer service is discrimination. In fact, I usually go out of my way to give people the benefit of the doubt. But as the only two Black customers in the store, watching everyone else receive attention while we went nearly 20 minutes without anyone making the effort to simply ask what we needed, we left feeling invisible and unwelcome. Whether that was intentional or not, that's genuinely how the experience felt to us. The irony is that we weren't even shopping. We already own Matsuda eyewear. We were simply trying to have a loose screw tightened on a pair of glasses that had been purchased as a Christmas gift. This should have been a quick conversation that took less than a minute to start. Luxury retail isn't just about selling beautiful products. It's about making every customer feel seen, acknowledged, and valued. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience at Lux Eyewear. We left disappointed, uncomfortable, and with no intention of returning.
