If I could give 0 stars, I would. I received glasses here in early January and was told to try them for three months. When I returned for a follow-up because I still haven't got used to the glasses, I was treated with utter disrespect. The individual who performed my exam took me into the room and began shouting at me, insisting the glasses were fine before I could even explain the issues I was having. I have never experienced such unprofessional or aggressive behavior in a medical setting. Do yourself a favor and find another ophthalmologist who actually listens to their patients. I had got my glasses from the menlo park office and they told me to go to their mountain view office this time. read more

I just realized that my first review of Dr. Wang was over 14 years ago. Well, nearly a decade and half later, I'm still going to her for my annual eye examinations. It should be obvious that I trust her with my eye health. Dr. Wang is skilled, knowledgeable, and efficient. In addition to fully answering my questions (which are often very technical since we're both in the healthcare profession), she takes time to chat about different subjects such as work and family, and she remembers details about these conversations when I see her in followup. Joel, the optician, has also been there for a long time. He is helpful and gives honest opinions about the frames that I choose. Dr. Wang, if she has time, sometimes weighs in as well. My glasses usually arrive in the office much sooner than originally promised. Only once did my lenses have to be remade, when the progressive part of the lens (yes, I'm that old) was a little too high and there was a slight visual distortion as I looked through them. If I had one minor complaint, it's that there is a comparatively smaller selection of frames in the Menlo Park office (admittedly, I've never been to her Mountain View location). However, I'm always able to find something that I like and looks pretty good on my face. read more

Terrible. Cluster of an office. Twice 'scheduled' surgery only to find they had' forgotten to calendar it.! The second time was a massive paper scramble the day before surgery including requiring a hastily arranged last minute unscheduled pre-op appointment. People in the office have no idea what is going on. I cancelled the surgery. Moving on and will find someone else. Shockingly poor. read more

Agreed with previous reviews. Don't bother. Arrived at 4:33 for 4:30 appointment at their Mountain View location. They told me I need to reschedule. I was with a kid and just drove 40 mins. I told them that I wanted the Menlo park location but came all these way since 4:30 works for me. Horrible customer service. Inflexible. I am reading the negative reviews and I genuinely surprised, because I always had a great experience with Dr. Wang. Our entire family is seeing her since 2015, when we moved in the area. The entire team is great, and Joel, who is dealing with the prescriptions, fixed my sun glasses and some reading glasses several times for free although none were purchased from them. I highly recommend her. I am also doing some minor "beautification" proceeders with Dr. Wang (Botox), and she is great all around. I highly recommend her practice. read more

Dr. Wang, Thank you so much for your careful YAG laser treatment yesterday, I can't believe the difference in my eyesight. It's remarkable! We would have all of the lights on in the dining room and at dinnertime it seemed so dark to me that I complained to Ron regularly that I couldn't see my food and that I needed to in order to eat so would he please get better lighting. Last night the dining room seemed lit as if it were twenty years ago when we would have dinner parties. Everything was bright and full of color and beautiful. It was such a pleasure. Previously my eyesight had been as if I lived in the time portrayed by the movie "The Beguiled" made with Nicole Kidman, "The Beguiled" was shot inside with natural light during the day and only candlelight at night, as it was at the time of the Civil War which it portrayed. Everything was dim and as if shadows. Now my vision is full of color and I can see numbers on the oven panel and the clocks everywhere without scrambling to find glasses. Again, thank you Dr. Wang. I went here because it was close to where I work and they could take me last minute. It was totally NOT worth it. 1) They tried to hard sell me on glasses which were overpriced. They girl helping me didn't help much and seemed put off when I didn't want to make a decision right away. 2) I didn't feel welcomed by Dr. Wang, and frankly felt uncomfortable. I felt that my questions were annoying her and that she wanted to spend as little time as possible on my exam. 3) They overcharged me for the exam and then made up some excuse for extra charges. They didn't record that I payed my co-pay and it took four times on the phone with them to sort things out ( the charge mysteriously disappeared once I said I would pay and not come back) Needless to say... I upgraded the prescription lenses for the Maui Jim sunglasses I purchased from the optical shop -from regular prescription to progressive. The lenses were Maui Jim original lenses costing $700+. In less than 3 months they were already scratched, even if I take good care of them. Called Maui Jim to claim the warranty they publish in their website -2years. They claim prescription lenses are medical devices and have no warranty for them, and would have to deal with the optical shop. Called this shop and they said the warrantee is for 60 days max, and my lenses were short of 3 months. I do not recommend this shop nor Maui Jim glasses as they have proven to be of low quality. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Wang and her team! They are clean, professional and kind. They helped my 10 year old get contacts in. They were also able to evaluate my son, who is on the autism spectrum. They were empathetic, thoughtful and gentle. I'm so grateful for this team! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Wang and her colleagues since 2011 and I still drive 45 mins out of my way to continue seeing her. I am always treated very friendly and professionally. I recently decided to invest in a new pair of frames and it was a process for me to decide. Joel (the eyeglasses technician) was SOO patient with me while I tried on 30+ pairs and asked his opinion. I went to this office for an eye check-up and to update my contacts prescription. I had three main problems with this practice: First, I had to go back several times because the contacts fitting were so badly done - I repeatedly asked for a prescription for my old contacts, but was told I needed a new ones (when I turned out I didn't). With one of the contact sets I was given, they bothered my eyes so much I had to take them out after an hour. Second, they were out of stock with one of the new contacts they tried to give me to try , were supposed to call and never did. I finally called them. Third - and WORST in my opinion - the guy who sells the glasses and contacts (a young Asian guy) hard sells you. Because they didn't call about the contacts or give me a prescription (until I demanded one), I had to rush order my contacts online because I was going to be out of town for a while. When I called the office to ask for a breakdown of my charges, cancel my contacts order (he pressured me into pre-ordering them), and refund that part of the bill - he argued with me about it! And then never issued my refund, etc. I had to dispute the charges on my credit card. read more

I have been going to Dr. Wang for about 12 years and I rate her a 5 star. Her optical department (Joel) is fabulous and takes the time to work with you. Never a hard sell, as others have said. Like the previous reviewer, I can't say that I would recommend this establishment to any one (I worked across the street so it was convenient, so it was the only reason I went). I went there multiple times but, other than my first time, had multiple problems. I could write a book on the problems with this place, but I'll spare you and try to make an organized list. 1) I have seen different eye doctors there and got a sense that only one, Jennifer Wang (who is an MD and not an OD), actually knew how to conduct an eye exam. Apparently, some ODs don't learn that skill (shocking after their 4 years of school). I have seen excellent ODs before, but none here. 2) I had issues with one of the doctors writing the wrong prescription in my chart vs on the slip she gave me. They had a hard time reconciling which was the right one (I don't remember her name, but she was the worst eye doctor I've seen in my entire life... I got the sense she hated her job). 3) While I was sitting in the area with a pen filling out forms, the receptionist collected credit card information from a patient. I could have easily written it down and taken it with me. Luckily, I don't do that sort of thing. 4) I once did not order glasses or contact from them, and they were pretty rude about it (I got the sense that this was where their cash came from). 5) They are overpriced. You can get the same lenses and contact for a lot less money anywhere else. I'd give this place ZERO stars. There is no area where I can say that I was impressed (doctors, staff, price, service are all sub-par). read more

I visited Dr Wang couple times - Mountain View & Palo Alto office, both. Two out of three times, she kept me waiting for almost 45 minutes. Each time, I would gently approach the staff and remind them that I was visiting during lunch hour, and needed to get back to work! But, they paid no heed, and it almost felt like it was a norm there, and I should not be complaining! There were other patients waiting with me, and they were growing impatient too. I really liked Dr. Wang. This was my first visit and after filling out paperwork, I waited at the most 2 seconds. She was friendly, personable, and honest. With previous optometrists, I've felt like they were always trying to up-sale me on stuff like glasses when I've had laser eye surgery. The staff is nice and helpful especially Stephanie. Great selection on glasses and sunglasses to choose from. Another bonus is the skincare (though brown don't frown and I don't need much- ha ha). Nice to finally have a place to go to! read more

I have been seeing Dr Wang, ever since she took over Dr Rubin's practice. I see her annually. This year was the year for two cataract surgeries (one at a time). She required that I have a physical before she would do the surgeries. My internist was fax'd the requirements. I fulfilled the rqmts for the surgery. Also, the physical results would be honored for 30 days. Had the first surgery & it was indicated, initially, that the second surgery would take place a 1-2 weeks later. When I called the office to confirm the 2nd surgery, I was told that Dr Wang already had 4 surgeries scheduled for that day, I was not happy, and was told they would get back to me. I recently had eyelid surgery with Dr. Wang and it could not be more perfect. It wasn't too little; it wasn't too much. She took the time to determine what I wanted and did not rush through the surgery or follow-up. After the surgery, the lines around my eyes were more apparent and at my request, she used a little Restalyn to fill them in. It was so simple, so easy, and not overdone. Lastly, I like that her practice isn't a Money Making Machine; just professional and calming. read more

By far one of the BEST opthomologist I've been to- and I've been wearing glasses/contacts since 4th grade!! Dr. Wang is very kind, caring, considerate, and seems highly competent. I find the staff here friendly and professional, VERY prompt, accessible, and communicative regarding any request I've had. Very bad bedside manner. Inpatient and rude when answering questions. Ask me to come back multiple times, so she can charge more. Worst of all, the sample eye drop she gave was expired more than six months ago. This is very dangerous. Luckly, I checked prior to using it. She is so irresponsible! I hate this eye doctor after going to the practice for more than 2 years. I chose them based on location and that was a huge mistake. They overcharge for EVERYTHING. For instance, they charged me $180 for simply TRYING a new brand of contact lenses to which I did not actually switch. It was some super type of "fitting" charge even though they spent precisely 1 minute with me! They also fit me for glasses and contact lenses poorly. Finally, the receptionist and assistants are just plain rude. I think that they know that they are doing a bad job and feel defensive. Patients: get yourselves out of this horrible practice. I have been seeing Dr. Wang for couple of years now. I was not so bothered by her receptionist since my yearly visit was short. I noticed she was cold and not very welcoming. However, since their recent move to Menlo Park, I had to have more contact with her office, because I bought her Obagi system. The receptionist Christina was disorganized and cold. She told me she would call me back for an appointment on Tuesday which she never called. Then when I called, she did not remember. So we made a Thursday appointment. When I showed up, the person whom I supposed to see won't be there at all for the day. And she told me the appointment was at 2pm. So the appointment was pushed out to Friday. I hope she will not mess up my future appointments. read more

Both the staff and Dr Wang were rather rude and seemed unconcerned about the actual patient and my issues, and only want to talk about the costs of possible services. I have been with this practice for the last few years to get once yearly a prescription for glasses and have decided to change provider. The service is typically poor. For example, I recently called to see whether a same day appointment for an eye exam was available. Even though I called during business hours, nobody picked up and I left a message on the voicemail asking whether a same day appointment was available and requesting a call back. Nobody cared to call me back till a week later when I was informed that I was due for my yearly eye exam. On another occasion my frame had broken and the only glasses I had to wear were my sunglasses. I asked for my replacement frame to be expedited, but there we no sign of any effort being made by the practice to accelerate things (in the meantime, I was showing up at work in sunglasses). read more

I went to see Dr. Wang today and left extremely pleased and validated. After going to the ER twice and then to Stanford Eye Institute earlier in the day for a bad, reoccurring eye infection that wasn't improving, I was able to squeeze in an appointment with Dr. Wang and it was definitely worth it. She took the time to listen to me and genuinely seemed to care about how I was feeling and what I was thinking. She listened to all of my questions and gave me full answers (this was not my experience at the other 3 locations). She did a comprehensive exam, explained what she thought was going on, provided me with a new antibiotic, explained how to prevent this from happening in the future (including switching to a different type of contact lens), and scheduled a follow-up appointment for a week later. All-in-all it was a positive experience considering how concerned I was about my health and how I now feel I'm on the route to recovery. i chose dr. wang for my annual eye exam because her menlo office is on my way to work. i waited for ~15min; she apologized. the exam went fine and i thought she was professional, although her bedside manner was kind of cold. she didn't explain much about the exam results, just told me that i need stronger readers. the glasses selection is just okay, and i agree with another yelper who said that the frames tend to be on the expensive side. what disappointed me is that they are charging more than msrp, which i discovered when i looked online for frames. joel who works in the front did not exert ANY pressure on me to buy glasses, seemed like a decent guy. there is a woman who works in the front in the same capacity who just rubbed me the wrong way and i can't say why. i'm definitely not going to get my glasses there but might return for my next annual exam just because of the convenience. read more
