They explained the entire process in plain language so I felt informed and comfortable before even stepping foot in the office. When I came in for my consultation, Dr. Rivers was just as kind, personable, and friendly as everyone had described. He walked me through the different vision correction options, explained the pros and cons of each, and made recommendations based on my needs -- without ever making me feel pressured. I ended up choosing the SMILE procedure, which was offered at a flat, affordable cost for both eyes (no hidden fees or "per eye" surprises that I was seeing everywhere). The procedure itself was fast and smooth. Dr. Rivers has such a calming presence he talked me through every step, making sure I was comfortable and fear-free. There's even a waiting area where your family or friends can watch the procedure if they'd like, which I thought was a cool touch. I noticed a difference in my vision immediately after the procedure -- I could read the time on the digital clock in the wall right away! By the next day, my vision was perfectly clear. They sent me home with everything I needed: eyedrops for moisture, antibiotic drops, sunglasses, coupons!!! and clear instructions for aftercare. I experienced only minimal discomfort in the days following. The office is beautiful!!! It's modern, great views, clean, and spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating. The location is super convenient, and I loved that there was garage parking with an exterior door that led directly into their office (no awkward walking around a building post-procedure!). Now, a year later, my vision is still perfect. The best part? Waking up and not needing to reach for glasses or think about contact lenses at all. It's been truly life-changing. He's at this location on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; presumably he's in the DC office on other days. I was in for a contact lens exam, and I was pleased that he volunteered to give me my eyeglasses prescription, since I wanted to eventually get a pair of lenses, but not necessarily there. Fissel's prices are high for the exam on lenses -- I have primary AND vision insurance, and I was still out of pocket $110 for the exam and 4 boxes (24 weeks) of contact lenses. You have to keep in mind that he's in the heart of McLean, VA, where most cars are Mercedes or Lexuses, so I wouldn't call this unreasonable. If I had been shopping price, there's always Walmart. I DO intend to go back next year.

I was just getting comfortable riding the high of all green lights and zero traffic when I had the misfortune of entering the garage at 1700 N Moore. At first, it just looks like a normal garage. But as you ascend higher levels looking for parking you realize that's there are only like 10 parking spots per floor. Also notable is the fact that there were no elevators ... so I guess if you're disabled... better luck next time? I think I made it 3 or 4 floors before I decided to turn around (easier said than done because one lane for 2 way traffic) and find parking elsewhere. Luckily, I only encountered one other car coming while I was attempting going. I was going to make my way to the garage across the street but (surprise) the entrance on N Moore is employee only so take the entrance on N Lynn. So... 2 loops later, I made it into garage #2. Parking spaces were labeled weirdly, so I'm not even sure I parked in an allowed spot, but my car was still there after my appointment so there's that. I checked in w the security person at 1700 N Moore about the elevator situation and she said that the elevator was only available at certain floors of the garage. So ........ yeah. Also- Dr. Lobaugh is amazing. I followed her to NOVA optometry from her last practice in Arlington. Couldn't recommend a physician more. She's one of those people who just makes you feel like she gives a duck about you and whatever issue you're having. That's hard to find. She's basically the only person I'd ever come back to this god forsaken location for.

I had trouble finding any reviews but I was fine with that. I went in and had my exam and I was very pleased with how that went. At that point, I asked about some frames that were similar to what I had. They had a very limited selection and I was told that I had to wait until "Seeta", the manager showed up and she would go over all that with me. WTF? I have to wait until someone shows up from the other store? She showed up about 15 minutes later from their Rockville store. By the way, I found out, from them, that shop is "Your Eyes" in Rockville, which has by far the worst reputation. Go read the reviews and read the store's response. Unbelievable!! Seeta showed up and she started going over the 2 frames that were close to what I wanted. She sat me down and started acting like a car salesperson and was writing figures down. I told her I didn't want the frames that were there and preferred to go to the other store to see their selection a couple days later. She told me no problem, come down and we can finish up the order. I asked for the price and she had me at $900 but was giving me a special reduction and it was $750 with UV protection (which comes standard) and scratch protection. At that point, I had every intention of going Saturday morning to look sand finish the deal as I really wasn't up to shopping. I asked for my copy of my prescription, and Seeta had the nerve to ask me if I was going to take it and go shop elsewhere. I told her no, but I wanted it. At that point, she quickly told me they didn't have any prescription pads and I could pick it up Saturday morning. Hard sale tactics? I told a buddy of mine who is retired from the business and he went crazy. He told me to file a complaint, dispute the credit card etc... Well, I called the next day and told them I was coming in to get my rx. The gentleman told me there was no doctor there all day and that was impossible. I explained to him the law, and told him to just refund me the charge and I will go elsewhere. He told me "No, you have already had the exam". I explained that I hadn't received a prescription, which is a violation of the law and if he didn't have the rx for me that day, I would go ahead and handle things. Long story short he called me right back and he had it and I picked it up. Meanwhile, after doing more research I decided to go to Costco and see about getting the glasses there. GO TO place from now on. I got the identical frames that I paid $175 last time for $60 this time. Lenses with all the bells and whistles, without transition lenses, were $129.00. So for $200 I am now wearing my glasses, which took 5 days to come in, and they are absolutely equal if not better than the $500 pair I got last time. Seeta kept trying to explain to me that they were a "high end" shop and you get what you pay for. LMAO! That may be true in some cases, but after seeing the reviews of the Rockville store.... high end is not possible.
