My previous review was written a few years ago and I've been in a handful of times since, so I figure a quick update is due... I've continued to be pleased with my eye exams and overall experience with Eyecare Plus Scottsdale. I've purchased glasses and always been happy with them. On a recent visit, I popped in to see if I could find some new glasses or goggles with my prescription to be used for pickleball. While I didn't find anything too sporty, I did end up purchasing a new pair of glasses and sunglasses with Amanda's help. She was a joy to work with and I cannot wait to get my new glasses when they are ready soon. Thanks again to the doctors and entire staff at EPS for meeting all of my eyecare needs! Doctors, service and staff are great and I have been coming here for almost ten years. Outside of that, their options for men's frame styles have reduced significantly with my recent visit and it left me disappointed. I was hoping to select a tortoise/brass option as I have done in the past and their response was "men's styles are very limited". They kindly offered to restyle the frames I chose but their inventory was, in my opinion, lacking (and I assume this is a large part of their business). I hope they gain a wider selection that caters to us gents again soon! read more

Buyer beware! This place was bought out by a private equity firm. It is not the same business as before sadly. They are price gouging and I just got a quote for 35% higher than the year before for lenses. They are trying to bamboozle their prior clientele, do not fall for this. read more

We were in town for the weekend and my husband lost a contact lens. We were able to have our doctor email him the prescription which they accepted and he was able to get a new set in less than 5 min! Excellent experience and they didn't charge him anything! They saved the day! read more

I saw Dr. Kessler first - he was great, caring, knowledgeable,etc. Then my second visit, I saw Dasen...Honestly one of the worst medical appointments I've ever had. I came in for chronic eye pain. I felt so unheard and the lack of empathy displayed was so below my expectations of a medical provider. I mentioned I had gotten 7 hours of sleep the night before and she compared her sleep to mine saying "I was lucky" after I had just told her I was sleep deprived from working night shift for 7 months. Read the room. Then, when I mentioned this to someone, the office manager insinuated I was the only person to feel this way about Dasen. In my experience, wouldn't recommend at all based on a lack of ability to listen and lack of prioritizing patient experience. read more

Getting my eyes checked is not usually my favorite. However, this location took my insurance and had great reviews. From the moment I walked in the staff was very friendly and informative. My appointment started right on time and the Dr. was friendly and funny. He gave me great insight into my vision and some helpful tips. When it came time to get my prescription I was able to get that with no problem and I did not feel pressured at all to purchase glasses on the spot. I came back, the lady was very patient and helpful and I found a pair an thought that I received a reasonable price for my frames and prescription. I will continue to recommend them and go back when I am due for another exam. read more

Dr. Kessler and his staff are the best eyecare system I have ever gone to. That's sixty years worth of yearly visits in various states and offices as started wearing glasses at eleven. Dr. takes his time, is thorough, explains what is new, different or the same. He really takes an interest in patients. The "care" is there. Office staff is patient as it always takes me forever to decide on what frames to buy. Love, love, love the staff and Dr. Kessler. I've been going here for a few years. Last year, a couple months after getting my new glasses, I felt like the script just wasn't quite right. Dr. Kessler saw me right away, and made the adjustment to my progressives (prescription was right, I just like progressives to sit a bit higher than normal). Fast forward a year, to yesterday, the staff are all wearing masks and doing everything to make us feel safe & protected during this pandemic. Dr. Kessler is great at explaining the whole process of the exam and any changes/differences from past exams. The "girls" up front are all great to work with. Great office. Dr. Kessler does a very thorough exam, and I've never had a problem with my prescription. I always purchase my glasses here, and all the girls are very helpful in finding me a pair that work for my "not made for glasses" head. However, if you're one who wants to do it on your own, like my husband, they're respectful of that as well. Frames are more expensive than the big box optical shops, but definitely a higher quality. Or maybe it's just me that gravitates toward the more expensive ones. Either way, I highly recommend this office. read more

Dr Kessler and his staff are truly fantastic! I can't say if I ever have been more comfortable through an eye exam, actually understand what all the tests measure, or feel like I'm doing anything than desperately trying to say the right letters and not fail some test, the consequences of which, I don't know, but usually eye exams being up such anxiety in me I can only compare to pop quizzes and a miserable showing at a fifth grade spelling bee (I can spell, quite well, but get too anxious)! Well, none of that none sense, here! They are supremely professional and friendly, and the office is nicely stated (and super clean)! I don't wonder or worry about who's head was in front of those Mickey Mouse ears contraption. Dr Kessler was referred to me by a friend who stated, "I have a great optometrist, Jen, go to him; you'll love him!" I've been seeing Dr. Kessler for about 5-6 years now and have found him to be an excellent doctor. He has remembered my name every time I have gone in to see him which always amazes me considering I only see him once a year. He seems to genuinely care about his patients, which seems rare these days, and has an excellent attitude about his work. The staff that work there are great and really friendly but remain professional. They have always greeted me once I have walked in the door, immediately verify my insurance, and have me ready to see Dr. Kessler within minutes. And that may be the best part, I have never had to wait for the Doctor more than five minutes. So far, at least for me, he has been on schedule. He has not made me wait like some doctors have done which is really irritating as I am sure the rest of you will attest. Lastly, just to show you how professional and well run his practice is, I have a nephew who is 8 that I sent to him to get glasses as he was complaining that he couldn't see at school. Well when the glasses came in, my nephew said they were good and left. Well 2 weeks go by and his mom noticed that he wouldn't wear his glasses. It turns out that, after some prodding, the glasses were a little too strong for him and that they were making him dizzy. So she took him back to Kessler who promptly took back the glasses that my nephew told him were OK without any questions and had them remade at no charge. As far as I am concerned, that speaks volumes as to what kind of doctor he is and what kind of business he runs. I would recommend this place to anyone that needs their vision checked. read more

I've had my exam here on three occasions; twice were with Dr Kessler and most recently once with Dr Carlson. Both doctors were very thorough and sought to it that my eyecare needs were met. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. I should mention that I've had bad experiences with Eye Masters and Lens Crafters when it came to what my expenses were versus what my insurance covered. I always felt the staff at those locations purposefully overcharge me. That was not my experience at Eyecare Plus. I had an overall great experience at Eyecare Plus. So I walk into my Optometrist with a white cane, dark glasses and German Shepard...they knew they were in trouble! Ok not really, my eyes aren't that bad yet. You know how sometimes you visit the Optometrist and you feel like a number or they try to oversell you in buying some glasses? This is not one of those offices. Besides the normal eye check to ensure you're not blind, Dr. Kessler suggested some simple treatments to help decrease the redness in my eyes that I experience due to allergies. It has really helped! I don't live down the street from Eyecare Plus anymore, but I've always been a big fan of this 'mom and pop' office, and I have no plans of ever taking my business anywhere else. And after an emergency visit there yesterday, that decision as been reaffirmed. I had an eye infection which was making it impossible for me to keep my eyes open. My girlfriend gave them a call, and I was squeezed in for an appointment about an hour later. Dr. Kessler did another great job of carefully examining my eye while causing as little additional irritation as possible. He gave me a prescription and recommended some over the counter drops to take in between uses (he also gave me a coupon for those drops). Dr. Kessler even told me to give him a call if I had any problems over the holiday weekend, and he'd be able to see me. How great is that? Yesterday at this time, looking at a computer screen was painful. Less than 24 hours after my office visit, the redness is gone, the inflammation has gone down, the irritation hurts a lot less, and I can keep my eyes open. My vision and health insurance don't cover optometrist visits for health visits but it only cost me an office visit. Worth every penny. I'm looking forward to my regular exam later this summer.
