I have horrific vision with an extremely high prescription (-11 in both eyes). For decades I have struggled with finding good glasses and had pretty much accepted that I would never find a pair that made me look like I was wearing magnifying glasses. Vision Optic was a game changer. They did an exceptional job with my frames and lenses despite my high prescription. The lens were the thinnest I've ever seen for my high prescription. My family followed Dr. Rakowsky to this Scottsdale location, from East Mesa, a now 45 minute drive. Why? Because Dr. Rakowsky is the only doctor I have had to finely tune my eye prescription. He has many years of practice and does not rely solely on machines to determine your sight needs. He has recently helped me with double vision in fact. His new partner Sam Basari is a great fit too. Sam is easy to work with with a no pressure personality. The shop also has a great selection of nice frames and they carry contact lenses that actually fit without slipping off center. I am writing this review to help others who need to find a place they can trust to put their sight first. We pass many, many optical practices on the way to see Dr. Rakowsky and Sam so I hope that if you are less than pleased with your provider, that you will call them. They accept several eye care plans...mine is eye med and it costs $10 for and eye exam! read more

I visited Vision Optic, looking for glasses for my mother in Scotland, who had recently had a Stroke, which had caused loss of her side vision. I tried numerous opticians in Scottsdale Arizona, looking for help. They all said there was nothing they could do. Until I went to Sam at Optic Vision. I had checked out SVAG, side vision awareness glasses and he said he could help me. We picked out frames, Sam had my mother's prescription, he checked in London with his correspondent and said Yes, this will help. My mother was so excited and happy, that this might change her life, which it did! My mother has had her glasses for 2 weeks now. Sam boxed them and we got them shipped to Scotland. First, it was conveniently close to me and the second was so many wonderful reviews. It was enough for me to give that place a try. Had an excellent eye exam from the optometrist, Dr Jeffrey Rakowsky but after that the problem began. I identified glass frames with the manager and he proceeded that the cost would be $651 for the progressive lenses and frame. The order was placed but the site that does the work was already closed when the order was placed. I called back within in hour or so to cancel the order as I identified multiple other optical stores with substantially less cost. The Vision Optic manager said he would refund the money and only charge for the eye exam. When I went back for the refund he said there was a $50 charge for placing the order even though no work had been started. This surcharge is not appropriate and future customers should be cautious. read more

This is small shop managed by Sam Basiri and vision checks/tests are with Dr. Rakowsky. I got my eye exam here, and was very impressed with how much personal time the doctor took with me. The service was very professional and they focus on you as an individual. When it came time to get my frame and lenses, my insurance didn't cover the frame and lenses well at this shop so I got progressives from Visionworks on Mayo. The progressives from Visionworks had a number of issues and no one in the Visionworks shop could help... mostly I got shoulder shrugs and offers for a refund. I went back to Vision Optic and Sam spent quite a bit of extra time w/me and Dr. Rakowsky to help work out a single vision prescription. The level of service and results were well worth me not using my in-network benefit. This place is dedicated to its customers and I will return with my family members. read more

The doctor takes the time to understand your personal situation, compared to many eye doctors in the past I have visited who try and get you in and out as fast as possible. They also put me into a less expensive and better quality pair of contacts after I have been overpaying for years through another clinic. The office is easy to find and there is convenient parking. They take appointments on Saturdays as well which was a huge help due to my busy work schedule.
