I came to EyeCrafters this evening after getting some suggestions from some of my coworkers and this location was recommended. After reading so many positive Google reviews, I decided to stop by this evening. I was greeted by so many employees working on-site, and was paired up with Channi for my shopping experience. I've always had a high prescription for nearsightedness, specially in my right eye. I've been always told to lean towards children's frames to obtain the thinnest lenses possible. I've never really been able to choose or select a great pair of designer frames, until this evening. Channi ensured me the lab will provide me with the thinnest lenses possible with the high-index technology, and was very knowledgeable about the stored frames and lens technology. It's great to know the store has an on-site lab and direct communication with the lab technicians. All employees working this evening seem to really enjoy their jobs and were very professional and pleasant. I also love that this store has a lot of designer frames from European brands that can cater to petite faces. I'm coming from being a former LensCrafters customer, and not once was critiqued or spoken to in a certain way, or told to wear contacts. There were no employees at this store that were unpleasant or unhappy to be assisting a customer with vision needs and concerns such as mine. Channi understood what I was looking for in terms of frames and lenses. Although I have high nearsightedness in 1 eye, I still want to look stylish, and less vision impaired. I think the frames we selected fit my aesthetic and personality. I can't wait for the glasses to turn out amazing! I'm desperately in need of a new pair of glasses. Thank you so much in advance! I went to the store yesterday on 2/18/26 and received calls and a text that my glasses were ready today (the next day) 2/19/26. I am so HAPPY!!! EyeCrafters is a professional hidden gem in Downtown Brooklyn with pristine craftsmanship. This is a high-index order with a -7.00 and -12 prescription. The thickness is barely noticeable and the frames are so chic and snazzy. The Optical Store Owner and Channi were so wonderful! I will be back next week for another pair! So flawed and speechless at the quality of the frames and high-index lenses! Keep up the wonderful work and professionalism. Absolutely terrible experience at Eye Crafters Optical. I ended up being overcharged, they claimed maximum benefits to my insurance plan (including filing for frames that were not purchased) and were not up front about pricing, as well as lying directly to me about what my insurance did and did not cover. When I entered, I was quoted $95 for a contact lens fitting and my insurance would take care of my eye exam. Upon receiving the bill, the contact lens fitting was now $175. In addition, they claimed my insurance did not cover contacts and regular lenses (despite my insurance terms stating it clearly did, as well as when I called my insurance, they confirmed this). In addition, I did not purchase frames from this business, but they filed a claim with my insurance for the maximum benefit and kept saying they would cancel the charge but never did. The lenses put into my frames were the cheapest type of plastic lenses without coating (compared to the default covered lenses I received from other optometrists in the past). The daily contacts they sold me (Acuvue Oasys 1 Day 90 pack) retail for $45-$65 at other eyeware stores, but here are sold for $111 each. Meaning even with insurance they are likely more expensive than your allowance covers. The optometrist himself was very friendly and thorough, however the staff was deceiving and unhelpful on various levels as well as lying directly to me on multiple occasions. To summarize, this business committed insurance fraud and overcharged me on multiple fronts. I was unable to have them reverse the insurance claim for frames which were never purchased here and I received subpar materials at an outrageous price. While waiting for my exam and frames, it is clear that this store is deceiving customers of what their actual benefits do and do not cover. read more

I've had two eye exams here and the eye doctors are excellent. However, I will not be returning because of my experiences with the staff. Last year I received a new prescription and glasses that were covered by my insurance. I was also quoted a price to replace the lenses in my prescription sunglasses, which I confirmed would be valid as a price if I returned through the end of the year. When I returned a few weeks later, the salesclerk tried to charge me almost double. I insisted that I had been quoted something different; the salesclerk would not listen to me and insisted that what she was telling me was the only option. After a lengthy discussion, I noticed the clerk who had given me that quote across the room. I pointed her out and when she came over, she confirmed what I was saying and explained that she had quoted me for a less expensive type of lens. The second clerk was trying to charge me for the most expensive lens and not give me other options. I was finally able to get the less expensive lenses, which are all I needed, at the original quote. This year, I went for an eye exam and was not told that they were having trouble with my vision insurance and were instead using my medical insurance. I was surprised to be charged a small copay and was confused when they told me I wasn't eligible for new glasses this year -- I know my insurance covers new glasses every year. This led me to call my vision insurance, to confirm that my benefits were as I thought, and to sort out some issues on my account that, I thought, had led to this issue. I thought this was a simple issue of my vision insurance putting through the charges wrong. After sorting that out, I called Eye Crafters and found out they hadn't even run the charges through my vision insurance; instead, they had done a more thorough eye exam (without telling me) that they billed to my medical insurance, with a copay to me. When I told the salesclerk that they never told me they'd been using my medical insurance instead of my vision insurance, the person on the phone actually accused me of lying: she said I had told her that a salesclerk told me on my initial visit that I wasn't eligible for glasses that year, but was now trying to say that I hadn't been told anything. Even while I tried to clarify that yes they'd told me I wasn't eligible for glasses (which I knew was wrong), but they hadn't told me they weren't using my vision insurance and hadn't told me I'd been given a different eye exam, she kept saying I was changing my story from before. I am shocked at how defensive this salesclerk was and how much she would not listen. As a public employee on public employee health insurance, I think it is appalling that the City of New York offers insurance that caters to businesses like this. read more

This place made a good impression initially: wide selection, well staffed, everything laid out so that it was easy to see. When I explained what I was looking for in terms of style and showed my prescription to get an idea of pricing, they seemed to understand what I wanted -- which may have been the issue because I was treated v rudely for most of my visit. One employee, whom I asked to rotate a display so that I could see what was on the other side, informed me that I'd "have to wait" since she was helping a customer (who seemed more like a friend who had dropped in for a chat). When I explained that I do not want any fancy frames but, rather, something subtle, I was told that they have nothing of the sort by one employee, after another advised me to "bling it up" (who asked her?) Its an expensive glasses so when I first asked one of the staff(guy) he is not really smart and professional enough to explain and tell customer nicely why this type of Cazal is more expensive than other Cazal, he act like if I don't want to pay that price I don't have to buy it. Then I almost walked away but nice lady came (she wore white gown) she told me the reason why this one so special and went to ask the owner if i can get a discount. I want to give all of the credit to her and finally I decided to buy it. Although the eye doctor was a lovely man as well as the people I dealt with upon my first visit, there was a mix up with the frames of my glasses. I called to discuss this issue and was met with an employee with a nasty attitude when I asked questions about the mix up regarding my glasses. She became nastier when I asked how and if my insurance might be charged again because of this mistake. Although the manager there is rectifying the situation I shouldn't be met with a nasty attitude when asking questions about insurance and or how to go about my next steps. I wonder if I was met with a nasty attitude because of the TYPE of insurance I have. Either way I would suggest to ONLY go here to get your eyes checked. Get a copy of your prescription and go where the care doesn't depend on your insurance or the amount you're willing to pay. Funny thing is my mother was excited to schedule an appointment here and pay OUT OF POCKET for a second pair of glasses for both herself and I after her insurance covered her original pair. The examination was extraordinary. The Doctor took the time to completely evaluate me and she found all the issues that plagued me for months. After receiving the correct prescription, and a great set of frames, I was able to return to school. The Computer coating on the lenses made online study during COVID lockdown, a breeze. Keeping it real, the Frames here are not cheap! But they ARE different and the selection is impressive. And Jennifer is really good at Updating your Look. I'm so glad this Eyecrafters was so close to my job. 1st, they helped me out in a pinch, my driver's license had expired. I was able to run in during lunch break and take the eye exam for DMV. With their help I was able to attain my license online, and print out a temporary one. The staff were all very friendly, professional and efficient. Mila, really calmed me down when I failed the eye test at first. She let me take it over and I passed. Thank God. She is so sweet and reasurred me that everything was going to be alright. I bought the Groupon and headed on over to Eye Crafters. The Groupon acts like it's really gonna help you out, $29 for the exam and $225 toward your glasses. The exam was great, didn't feel rushed at all or discounted. The glaucoma test sucked but where doesn't it, ya know??? I was for sure ripped off on my frames which is annoying, they sell elsewhere for more than $100 less than what Eye Crafters sells them for, but with the Groupon I felt like I should just buy them there. Yes they're a high end brand but like why mark them up SO MUCH more than they're already pricely priced? The prescription lenses were $139 and I was also convinced to do the $65 reflective protection so REALLY when you take into account those two basics, the Groupon is barely a dent on the price of the frames. My boyfriend picked them up for me when they were ready because he was out. They didn't even come in a legit case with a cloth like every other pair of glasses I've ever purchased ever, they came in a case that my Gram most likely has from the dollar store down the block. If I'm buying $500 frames (when really they should be $330) can't I at least get the case they come in?! My thoughts on this place were initially mixed, but overall my experience was good. I made an appointment for 5:30, but I arrived about 15 minutes early. The girl that initially helped me was very polite and helpful, and was patient in helping me sort out my insurance information. However, even thought I arrived early to my appointment, I had to sit and wait for over an hour before the doctor saw me. The place closes at 6:30, and the girl worker even left for the day. I eventually got to go in for an eye exam at around 7. However, the doctor was so nice and funny, and was extremely helpful in answering my questions. The eye exam was also very thorough, and I felt like I was in good hands. Unlike some of the other reviews, I was not pressured to purchase new frames at all; I came in with my old frames and they were fine with putting new lenses into those. They told me to come back the next day to pick up the glasses. I went at noon, and I was in and out in under 5 minutes. The lenses are great, and the girl was very polite and apologized that I had to wait so long the previous day.
